Pfau Golf Course at Indiana University
Played On 03/21/2017Course is in FANTASTIC shape for the Spring...
Played IU today for the first time this year, and I can confirm the course is in great shape right now. The greens are fast and smooth and the fairway grass is lush and green.
I can't say enough about the change in the greens from the past decade. Starting last year they finally got serious about taking care of the greens, and what a huge difference it has made.
Virtually every green is sloped from back to front, so be VERY careful about putting your approach shot above the hole.

Played On 09/25/2016GREAT SHAPE -- 3 WEEKS MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE
I left a review at the beginning of September warning people to stay away from IU until the end of the month because they heavily aerated the greens and fairways.
I played IU again yesterday, and course conditions have improved greatly. It is now ready for Fall play. Greens were fast and fairways were pretty thick with new grass.
Eagle Pines Golf Club
Played On 09/07/2016GREAT COURSE -- EXCELLENT CONDITION
I played Eagle Pines today and the course condition is excellent. I've played here 5 times now this year, and I've never been disappointed. The greens are always fast and well taken care of, and the fairways and tee boxes are in great shape right now, which is more than you can say for most courses.

Played On 09/02/2016GRASS IS DEAD -- AVOID COURSE UNTIL END OF SEPTEMBER
I live in Bloomington and have played IU approximately 10 times this year so far. The course has been in better shape this year, especially the greens which are noticeably faster.
However, they aerated the greens and fairways recently, and when you combine that with the dead grass everywhere, the conditions have deteriorated quickly. I would wait until the end of September (3 weeks or so) before playing again. It's just not worth the money currently, even for a cheap Hot Deal.

Played On 10/12/2015AVOID THIS COURSE!! HORRIBLE CONDITION
I had avoided playing IU since July because it was in really bad shape. However I played it again yesterday, after a 10 week hiatus, and it was even worse.
Greens are shaggy and bumpy. Maybe a 5 on the stimpmeter.
Fairway grass is dead. Rough is dead.
It's so bad the course shouldn't even be open.
It's an embarrassment to the University.
The Legends Golf Club - Creek/Road Course
Played On 10/11/2015COURSE IN GREAT SHAPE
We grabbed a Hot Deal, and played Sunday October 11. Course was in outstanding condition. Greens are fast and true. Fairways are lush and green. Tee boxes were well kept. I've played here many times in the past. It is a similar course to Heartland Crossing, but the Legends must have more cash behind the operation because they are doing a much better job of keeping up their property.
Great course for Fall play. Fewer trees means less time trudging through the leaves.
Eagle Pines Golf Club
Played On 08/31/2015GREAT CONDITION FOR LATE AUGUST!!
This is the 4th time I've played eagle pines this season, and it remains one of the best courses on the southside of Indy. The fairways, tee boxes and greens are all in excellent shape for this time of year, especially compared to most other courses where burned-out grass is common right now.

Played On 07/28/2015FAIRWAYS GETTING BURNED OUT -- GREENS ARE SUPER SLOW
I have played IU 10 times so far this year, and I would now avoid the course until late August or early September.
Why?
Several fairways are now dead or dying. The grass is gone. This always happens at IU in late July, and this year is no different.
And what made things even worse, was the condition of the greens. I doubt they were running even at a 5 on the stimpmeter the day I played. BUMPY AND SLOW. I thought I was at Chambers Bay for the US Open, the greens were so bad.

Played On 05/22/2015BEST CONDITION IN LAST 5 YEARS
Fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. Bunkers are well-maintained and the greens are rolling nice. I have played here 8 times in 2015 so far, and yesterday the course was almost picture perfect.
Eagle Pines Golf Club
Played On 05/07/2015Short but challenging old-school course
We have played here 3 times so far in 2015. Greens have been pretty fast, tee boxes are lush, and fairways are in nice shape. Shot shaping is required off the tee or you will get abused. Greens are small on all except for a few holes.

Played On 04/24/2015DEFINITELY Improved Since Last Year
I have played this course 4 times so far in 2015, and they have definitely improved things over last year.
Greens have varied. Today was the slowest so far this year. I probably caught them right before cutting, because they have been faster this year than today.
BUT STILL NOT FAST ENOUGH
Fairway and bunkers are in very good shape. Today the rough was very long on the the front (at least 3 inches) but they had cut the back and it was more manageable.
Tee boxes are also in good shape.
NICE WORK!! KUDOS TO COURSE STAFF!!

Played On 09/02/2014Solid Course For The Money
You better have control of your golf ball when playing here. It's not about distance, my friend. Fun course. Always enjoy playing here.
Southern Dunes Par-3 Golf Course
Played On 08/20/2014NICE GREENS -- NICE FAIRWAYS -- NICE TEE BOXES
Impressed with the improvements at Southern Dunes since earlier this year. Greens, fairways, and tee boxes were all in much better shape than 2 months ago, which is shocking if you consider that it's now the middle of August.
Southern Dunes remains one of the top 5 courses on Indy's southside. Well done management team and staff, well done.
The Links at Heartland Crossing
Played On 08/18/2014GREENS ARE FAST -- BUNKERS ARE GETTING BETTER
We played twice in the past 10 days -- both times for about $20, which is a GREAT price for this course. Greens are fast, fairways are fast and burning out, and the bunkers have improved from earlier this year, though there is still work to be done.
Eagle Pines Golf Club
Played On 08/06/2014HIDDEN GEM SOUTH OF INDY -- STAFF IS AWESOME
Eagle Pines is the old Mooresville Country Club.
Greens are fast, but not lightning. Wish they were faster.
Played the back tees -- only 6200 yards -- but still challenging.
I love these old Coutnry Club courses that were built in the 1920s and 1930s -- lots of doglegs, undulating greens.
Only 35 minutes from Blomington -- a true hidden gem -- have played here 4 times in the past 3 weeks.
Foxcliff Golf Club
Played On 08/03/2014VERY FAST GREENS -- NICE COURSE
Greens are faster than most of the good courses South of Indy -- a nice treat.
The normal rates for this course are high, but if you can snag something under $25 thru HOT DEALS on golfnow, then it's worth your time.
We played the back tees -- 6800 yards -- and it was definitely challenging. Again, let me say, the greens will kick your butt, and you will 3-putt many times.

Played On 07/31/2014HORRIBLY SLOW GREENS -- NOT ENOUGH SAND IN BUNKERS
I'm from Bloomington, and have played this course a few hundred times over the past 20 years, so I know it well.
The greens are ridiculously slow -- compared to Martinsville CC, Foxcliff, Eagle Pines, Hickory Stick, The Pointe, Timbergate, Heartland Crossing, and Otter Creek -- IU has BY FAR the slowest greens of the bunch.
It's a freaking joke how shaggy they are, and this course should be avoided until management gets serious about course management.
Yes, it's THAT annoying.
And, the bunkers need a lot of work as well. Pretty embarrassing lack of sand.
Hickory Stick Golf Club
Played On 07/29/2014AWESOME FAIRWAYS + FAST UNDULATING GREENS
A great course on Indy's Southside -- very challenging greens and huge fairways. Try to get one of the daily HOT DEAL tee times and you'll save big. Not sure if I would pay full price for this course ($49) when you can play twilight for $30 starting at 3 every day.
