Potters Resorts Five Lakes - Lakes Course
Played On 04/20/2019Bags of potential
Played the lakes off the back tees, well.. the ones that were still there. Lovely course and a great layout. Back 9 was noticeably better than the front. Greens were bumpy and slow but I'm assuming they had been spiked and sanded recently. All in all I really enjoyed the course, so many nice holes to play and look at. The one thing I would say it needs is money. It is a competitive market out there but if this just had an injection of money and care it could be a real top class venue challenging most to be the best

Paid £23 to play on a Sunday at 12.20. Pace was great as no one in front of me. For the money I would rate this as one of the best I’ve played in the area. Good layout, course requires thought to get round with a good score.for the time of year it was in good condition. The only down side was the green where running quick, this would be great if they where flat but they had just been spiked and where very bumpy so putting was difficult.

Not a bad course. Good value for money at £23 for a Sunday midday round. Course is in relatively good condition although the greens were like a hairy nut sack. Would return again once trimmed. Bunkers were also undergoing work. Once these two things are fixed it will be a good teat

Played On 09/17/2017Great value for money
Played Sunday midday for £25. Great deal. Course was not long and the opening hole was not great apart from that a nice course. Kept in great condition, fairways were lovely and greens were avaerage pace but good condition. Strange indexs to holes as par 3's and five's are rated more difficult holes.
Keeping it straight off the tee for at least the first 100yards is key here, if you struggle in that area it will not be an easy round. Apart from that plenty of good scoring opportunities.
Definitely worth going and will return again soon.
Hendon Golf Club
Played On 09/10/2017Average
Not a bad course but not competitive enough value for money. I usually play different courses in and around London and normally don't pay more that £30 as I play every week. I payed a little extra to play Hendon as I thought it would be superior to the others but it turns out it was average. The course was in good condition and was tricky around the greens as they were well protected by bunkers. I would play it again but would not pay more than £25 for an afternoon t time.

Nice course. Not much need for a driver for the longer hitter. 200 to 230 off the tee leaves mid irons to wedges to green.
Some slopping fairways side to side means runs offs into the semi rough.
Greens were in good condition just not very consistent making outside 12 feet hard to judge pace.
Nice course, good round and would definitely recommend it. Definitely requires some thought in managing your round.

On arrival we stood in the pro shop for 10 minutes with no staff. Then when going to the bar to ask a guy came to serve us in the pro shop. He didn't tell us anything, first tee, rules, facility's. Simple things make a difference. Big let down there.
The range was decent and close to the club house and first tee which was a plus.
The course itself was nice, a good challenge and nicely laid out. Some great holes which required a bit of thought to play off the tee with well placed bunkers. The only bad things on the course was some old bunkers were now just grass bunkers and the greens were not good. They were quick, but had dents all over them, not due to pitch marks but possibly due to dry weather. They need looked after. Disappointing considering the rest of the course. Hit a good putt and get strokes added to your round! Unfortunate!

Good course and some picturesque holes. Green were of an average pace but were true and in good condition. A stoke saver needed to plan your tee shots if you haven't played before, some doglegs which are hard to gauge distance off the tee with yardages. We paid £23 to play in the afternoon and was definitely worth it and more. If your not a regular player or walker a buggy is advised as there are some lengthy walks from greens to tees.
Wanstead Golf Club

I've been looking for a good course close to home and found it here at Wanstead. Not a long course so advise playing off the back tees especially if it's dry. Some great holes with elevated greens. Greens were true and well kept. One or two cross over holes and 4 holes separate to the rest of the course. I paid £22 and was definitely worth more. Buy a course stroke saver, some places you don't want to miss!

Nice course, true fast greens. Not much need for a driver for a longer hitter.
I enjoyed the course, some unavoidable downfalls like lack of rain. Best part was the Greens they were great, best I've played this year. Worst part was people walking all over the course and sitting sunbathing at the edge of holes. Some more privacy and some extra yardage and the course would have good potential. Wouldn't pay more that the £25 I did!

Not a bad course. Some simple changes would make big differences. No yardage markers makes it very difficult to judge shots into green. No course map and in most places signs to next tee. We got lost twice and had to guess several times where the next tee was. Too many dog walkers all over the course, at one point I had to shout to get people having a conversation off the fairway. Course in respectable condition for time of year, and greens were also not bad, A couple more weeks they should be good.
