Raccoon Hill Golf Club
Played On 05/23/2014Nice little course
The front 9 is pretty open and what you see is what you get. THe back nine has some tougher holes and the goofy "Z" hole par 5. You can keep you driver in the bag on the back nine if you are a longer hitter. The entire course is short but I always enjoy playing there. The greens were in nice shape. And teeing off at 7:55 was great because we were the first guys out and played under 3 hours.
Deercroft Golf Club
Played On 03/29/2013course on its way back, nice greens good layout
This course has as very nice layout and the greens roll very good. Not super long but I enjoyed it very much. This course had gone down hill the last few years but sounds like the owner committed to making it a very good course again. About 30 min drive from Pinehurst and even though I expected more I am glad I made the trip down. Just go there with an open mind and give it a try. You can't beat the price.
Pinehurst Resort & Country Club - No. 9
Played On 03/28/2013great but tough courses. tyupical Jack greens
This was a great course to play but difficult and test all your abilities. Lots of room off the fairways but the greens are tough. They are really big but if you are not on the right side, you may 3 putt them because of the severe slopes. We were told by the starter to use one more clubs into every green and he was right. Lots of elevated greens so use that extra club. If you can get a good deal on golf now definitely play it.
Longleaf Golf & Family Club
Played On 03/28/2013wide open not a lot of trouble good for the money
Golf now has a lot of good deals for this course. Front nine completely wide open but gets a little tighter on the back nine. Bigger greens and kind of tough to read, pretty sandy but it is match. Played last 2 years and like the course enough to keep coming back. Lots of play so can be kind of slow at times, but with no one in front we played in less then 3 hours. Lot of courses in the area but with the openness of the front nine its a confidence builder for one of the first rounds of the season.
Talamore Golf Resort
Played On 03/26/2013Great course and layout...bring your sand wedge
They over seed in the winter so course was is pretty good condition in March with all the cold weather they have had. Very challenging and worth it to play. Got a great rate on golf now and will add it to our tour stop. Great staff and gave us some knowledge before we played. One last thing this course will test your bunker skills if you miss the greena because almost every hole has bunkers on 2 or 3 sides.
Country Club of Whispering Pines - River Course
Played On 03/26/2013great course and a super great price with golf now
Played the west(river) course this time. Its March and been very cold butthey over seed during the winter so the ffairways are green and taken care of. Greens were lightening but rolled very true. The river course has water on about every hole on the back nine so be prepared. This is challending but not super long (blues about 6500) but its great because you can see whats in front of you and no blind shots. Will be back every year.
Country Club of Whispering Pines - River Course
Played On 03/26/20132 very good and different courses
The west-rivef course has a lot of water but very fun and challenging to play. Great place and with the golf now prices you won't play a better valued course in the area. Will be back every year.
Beacon Ridge Golf & Country Club
Played On 03/25/2013great course for the money only 15 min from Pinehurst
Very friendly staff to start. Played in March everything dorment but greens were great but a little tricky. Short drive from pinehurst and will add it to our stop every spring. Great value with Golf Now hot sale. Somewhat challenging, but very straight forward and can score on some holes. Not super long and even for us longer hitters there are a couple of reachable par 4's and got to a lot of par 5's in two. Seemed like a lot of bunkers surrounding all greens. No gimiks just great course.
Country Club of Whispering Pines - River Course
Played On 03/24/2013hidden gem in Pinehurst 2 diff but good courses
The River Course (formerly the West) will remind you of the courses in the foothills of North Carolina. Though it plays much shorter 6521 from the back tees to 4653 to the senior ladies tees, the River Course demands more accuracy than distance. "Shot making" skills are necessary to navigate the terrain. With the elevation changes, towering oak trees that line the fairways and trees overhanging the small greens and less playable rough make tee shots a premium. Tranquil lakes and streams meander through most of the back nine. The legendary Ellis Maples, a Donald Ross prodigy, designed both courses with the ability and talent to create multiple themes on one property.
Chenoweth Golf Course
Played On 10/15/2012Good course for the money
Good course for the money, nothing extra special and a few weird hole layouts, but thats probably because of the housing development.
Windmill Lakes Golf Club
Played On 07/12/2012Avg course not as good as people say
Since its kind of a swamp area there are some low spots that always accumulate water. Have played a dozen times but not a course I would pay a lot for, plus its a pretty far drive for me. Greens are usually pretty good and the driving range is usually beat up. IT does have a great PRO SHOP.
J. E. Good Park Golf Course
Played On 07/01/2012Not a place I would go back to
played only half the holes and would not even give us a 9 hole rain check. Sounded like they frowned upon GOLFNOW uses. Probably won't go back anytime soon
Roses Run Country Club
Played On 06/20/2012Needs some attention but great potential
Played this course several times so its not that bad, but since Golfnow has some pretty good rates it hard to pass up. Course could use a little work and would get a lot more play, but doesn't seem to have a great reputation.
Brookledge Golf Club
Played On 04/06/2012Great course and great staff
Sometime a little slower play because of the leagues and age of players. play here 12-15 times a year and will always come back. The last 10 years it has gotten better each year. Greens are always tricky
Country Club of Whispering Pines - Pines Course
Played On 03/26/2012weird layout for 9 holes
We had to play like 4 holes on the front and 5 holes on the back to get 9 holes in. Not a bad course but nothing really impressed me with all the other courses in the area. May give it another try though.
Little River Golf & Resort
Played On 03/25/2012Cant wait to go back
After 8 rounds in 4 days we decided to play 1 more round before heading home. Found this just out side of Pinehurst on GolfNow and decided to give it a try. The course was in good shape for March and it was not that busy so we got out in 3 hours. We have already marked it for a stop this year and can't wait to play.
The Carolina
Played On 03/20/2012Great cource, great staff good for the Money
Once you get over the Clubhouse (trailer) its a very nice course and challenging. Played twice in March 2012 and the course was in pretty good shape and plan on making a stop there this March.
Arrowhead Golf Club
Played On 06/30/2011not even worth the cheap price
avg maintenance and course was not that enjoyable, maybe paid $15 but I would rather spend more and play a lot nicer course.
Astorhurst Country Club
Played On 06/14/2010ok for the money.
Some very gimmickey holes but OK for money and city owned course
Carolina Crossing Golf Club
Played On 04/10/2010needed attention but was years ago when i played
Would of liked to see reviews when I played. It was under new management and sounded like they were going to improve. Very cheap through golf now.
