Flackwell Heath Golf Club
Played On 01/03/2017Friendly staff and an Interesting Course
Even with the hum of the M40 in the background this course presents great views across the hills. It is on chalk so stays dry underfoot even during the wettest of months. Some holes are quite challenging and the layout incorporates some serious hills.
Played when 6 holes were "closed" but the routing for a provisional 18 is easy to negotiate and replaying 6 holes allows some altered course management strategies ... learning from any errors made the first time.
Exceptionally friendly and helpful pro shop staff. Also a good selection of golf equipment and attire should you need it. Some fantastic special offers.

Played On 12/27/2016Tee time issues and very slow play
Even with a tee time it is a matter of queuing on the first tee to set off. I suspect the members just show up and go and it can be an uncomfortable rugby scrum.
Have played this course a few times a year and each time state that, "It will be my last!" Recently behind a 3 ball who were not golfers. The group behind us regularly hitting into us. No marshals and no help to hand.
It is a pity because the course is a nice one but when it is heavily used the rounds will almost certainly be frustrating.
West Middlesex
Played On 09/13/2016Location with a Challenge
Within easy access to the A40 this course has great variety for an inner London course. A challenging mix of holes which will keep you interested. Course management is more important than a long hit on a number of holes. The staff are friendly and helpful and the pro shop is well stocked. Members do not make tee times so you can have a bit of a "scrum" on the tee box on popular days. Call ahead to avoid competitions and the like.
Ruislip Golf Club
Played On 09/11/2016A Welcoming Course
A course which is accessible for all levels of golfers. Initial reaction is that this is an easy course but don't be fooled. One needs to place shots to score. Pace of play is generally very good and if you call ahead they will tell you when the quieter times for your round are. Pro shop staff are exceptional ... helpful and knowledgeable. For a London course there is the added bonus of a driving range for a quick warm-up or a post round bucket. You can always get on this course at a reasonable price. Public transport by train or underground from central London virtually to the first tee.
