Better than expected

I did not have high expectations for this fairly small country course but since it was close by and recently added to golfnow I thought I would give it a try. Tee boxes were good, fairways adequate on the front side better than average on the back. However the greens were in great shape throughout. Nice, soft and grown in greens helped good approach shots stay on. Tips for this course- the holes can be confusing. #1 is across the bridge and all the way up the hill. To get to #10 come back down the same hill and across the bridge again, 10 tees off behind the clubhouse. #13 is parallel to the driving range past #18.

Great value for the money

Based on the lack of deals and tee times on golfnow I expected the course to be crowded on a Friday morning however there were just a few people there. Overall the course has good variety and the greens fairways are in great shape. Even though there was rain recently and the course is mostly in river bottoms the greens were fast all day. The 12 hole has two creeks crossing the fairway and a front side bunker that forces a layup or go for it decision if your tee shot is true. There are also a few par 3 holes that are a challenge. While there is water everywhere it only comes into play on a few holes if you stay near the fairway. Hard to believe this is a city owned park as it has amenities usually reserved for the more pricey courses. I wish we were offered more morning tee times here

Good easy course

Overall course was in good shape except for a few greens on the back side that looked like they are in the process of reseeding and filling out. Great course for beginners and novice players but ex[perienced players looking for a challenge may find it a bit boring.

Good looking course with great views

I was a bit apprehensive when I called in for a tee time as the guy was a bit abrupt. But when I arrived the staff was cordial but not overly so. Course has a beautiful island par 3 hole and some great natural views. The only drawbacks are too many blind second shots and tractors on the course. If someone is ahead, you have to be check to make sure the course is clear before shooting which adds up timewise over 18 holes. Twice there were tractors spraying and mowing mid morning which is distracting. I would think they would do this early or late in the day when fewer folks are out. But overall a positive experience. I recommend giving it a try.

Good for the money

Hard to judge the maintenance in the winter but nothing negative to report regarding maintenance. You can tell its done but I have seen it done better. The course is deceptively challenging at times and the course has a good variety of hole types i.e. uphill tee shots, downhill sloping tees, tees over water etc. For the money its a good value with a friendly staff and laid back atmosphere.

Ok for the money

Overall the course is maintained but most of the putting greens and some of the tee boxes need work. It is the middle of winter so maybe weather has something to do with it. Staff is friendly and helpful. Some interesting holes that can present a challenge. If you are a long hitter you can hit several of the par fours in one. I will go back in the spring to see if the greens are in better shape.

Good value for the money

Course itself is well maintained but the driving range set up is not great. Staff is friendly. Tight fairways on the front side that open up and are more generous on the backside. A few of the holes are a little confusing as to where your tee shot should be going but after the second round its a little easier to figure out. Two has a second shot over water that is quite a challenge and twelve is all or nothing over the pond from the tee with traps on either side of the green and out of bounds directly behind, scary hole that!
Bring your own food or eat before you come. Only thing available at the clubhouse to eat is hotdogs and microwave burgers and no place to go nearby.
