Painted Mountain Golf Club
Played On 09/30/2023Never again.
Painted mountain is one of the worst courses I’ve ever played. Awful pace of play. Slowest round and slowest greens of my life. Please look elsewhere.
Sun City Country Club
Played On 04/02/2023Glacial Pace
So slow. No rangers. We showed up and had a tee time through golfnow but it didn't show up on the course's schedule so they had to squeeze us in. The greens don't roll true. The carts are the slowest I've ever been in. Too much $ for the course. Super slow conditions and no rangers to speak of doing anything. Will not be coming back.
Coldwater Golf Club
Played On 11/04/2022SO SLOW
Pace was horrendous. No one playing ready golf, and no ranger moving things along, nothing.. Greens were also insanely slow and fuzzy. Look like they hadn’t been cut in a couple days. Won’t be coming back again.
Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort
Played On 04/17/2022Fun track
Really enjoyed this course. Good mix of holes. Conditions were good! Will definitely come back.
Peoria Pines Golf Club
Played On 02/12/2022Slowwww. Slow play and slow greens.
That about sums it up. By the 3rd hole we were backed up up 2-3 groups. Almost 4 hours for an executive course. Greens did not release at all. Super slow. Had to really whack it with the putter. Would not recommend.
Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
Played On 07/15/2022Awful.
Wow. Hadn’t played here in a while but the conditions were just horrible. Got lost once because it’s not clear where to go for the next hole and no signs anywhere. Greens were bumpy and had patches of sand all over.
Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort
Played On 06/04/2021Kept in great condition. Had a great time.
Big fan of orange tree. Nice wide open fairways so you can let the driver rip! Fun course. Was kept in good condition as well.
Will definitely be back.
Continental Golf Course
Played On 08/29/2021Not worth the $$$ - Tee boxes are awful
I played here in the past and it was what it was for 15 bucks - but now they’re charging over $30 in the middle of summer when the course has clearly not been maintained. Tee boxes were a joke, you could barely tell the difference between them and the rough on some holes. Greens were pretty bad as well - Weeds growing on most of them.
I played a day earlier at a far nicer full length course for the same price. I won’t be coming back here, not worth the ridiculous price they’re charging these days.
Wish I had read this review before I paid for a tee time today. Worst course conditions I have ever seen.
Dobson Ranch Golf Course
Played On 08/28/2021Course in good condition, great range
Had a lot of fun here. The course layout is pretty standard, not too difficult - no elevation changes on any holes, not much water. But the course is in good condition and the greens were well manicured and plenty with various undulations to make things a little more difficult. Pace of play was good. Starter and all the staff I encountered were great.
The driving range is by far the best in the area as well. Plenty of mats and the toptracer technology is awesome.
I will be back to play here again!
Arizona Biltmore Golf Club - Links Course
Played On 08/06/2017FUN Course! Always in good shape
This is probably my favorite course to play in Phoenix. I was going back and forth between "Fairly Easy" and "Moderate" - it is definitely not the hardest course but there are some tricky holes. I like that you don't need to pull out the driver every hole - some shorter par 4s require some more strategic club selection off the tee. All in all, lots of fun and it's always in good shape. Occasionally it gets a bit busy but usually it's not too bad.
Thank you for the excellent review of the Links Course. We are so happy to hear that it is your favorite course to play in Phoenix. Can't wait to see you out on the course again soon!
ASU Karsten Golf Course
Played On 07/26/2015Will never go back to Karsten.
The condition of the course was not great, but not terrible. It was a bit hard, but that's expected in the middle of the AZ summer.
I was thoroughly unimpressed with the course staff as well as the pace of play. We finished our round in - wait for it - FIVE AND A HALF HOURS. We waited on the 10th tee for about 15-20 minutes, and the ranger was informed of the hold-up. The ranger did not do anything to increase the pace of play, even though it was painfully obvious the foursome in front of us were holding everyone up. It's really difficult to get into any kind of rhythm on the course when you're waiting on people ahead of you.
This is a VERY hilly course. You will be shooting on a downslope or upslope A LOT. Course is not very forgiving - missing the fairway means dealing with the hills (uneven lies, blind shots, etc) or worse. Length of course is not very long. We played the "Championship" yellow tees and length was about 6200-6300 yards. Shooting off blue ("Regular") tees would make the course <6000 yards. Don't let that fool you though. As I said, it's very hilly, and there are a number of bunkers in tricky spots around the green. I found the course to be quite challenging.
After the round I explained to the staff that it was the longest round I've ever played in my life, and that the ranger did not do anything to increase pace of play. I also asked if they just simply booked too many golfers on the same day. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Karsten because of this.
Painted Mountain Golf Resort was closed for over-seed on the 30th of September, we did not reopen the golf course until October 6th.
