Pevely Farms Golf Club
Played On 09/26/2018Peveley Farms
Always a nice course. The greens were a little slow, but true. Front nine was real slow, but a few groups dropped off, and then it went very quickly. Not the courses fault, but players ahead of me would not fix their divots, so I was busy. And I birdied #18 to end with an 81.
The Prairies of Cahokia Golf Course
Played On 09/23/2016Inexpensive course, good greens, slow play, very flat couse
This is an inexpensive course, that I checked out on GolfNow to see if it is one of those hidden gems. It was not, unfortunately. It was inexpensive and the greens were very good. But the slow play made you feel rushed since there were sometime two groups waiting behind you as we were waiting to hit. A few holes were very narrow, which made it more interesting and the par fives had strategic water placement to keep you from hitting driver. It was an OK course.
Quail Creek Golf Course
Played On 04/13/2016Slow play and bunker conditions
Not that many on the course, yet it took almost 5 hours to play. It wasn't the group in front of us, but a group in front of them. Wide open before them. The fairways have not yet grown in, which is OK considering the time of year. However, the bunkers need to be raked, and there are weeds growing in the bunkers. Greens were fine, and the course has an outstanding design. Also, I would suggest getting an industrial size mulcher. There are so many branches and sticks, and leaves that could be mulched, improving the overall appearance of the course.
Crescent Farms Golf Course
Played On 09/10/2015Course in great shape
The greens were a little slow, but that is natural in late summer when it is hot in St. Louis, to keep the greens lush (except when I missed two putts dead center, that stopped one inch short both times).
Pace was good. Started to rain, but subsided quickly, so we (threesome) finished in 3 1/2 hours.
My biggest complaint is with GolfNow, whose fees have climbed dramatically.
Spencer T. Olin Golf Course
Played On 04/24/2015Great course, played terrible
The course is in outstanding shape, the greens very fast and I played the worst round in 3 years. But I am going next week and expect to shave 10 strokes off my round.
Mystic Oak Golf Course
Played On 07/03/2014Happily Sur[rised
This is the first time I played it. From the friendly and informative greeting when I checked in, to the excellent, faily fast and true greens to the extremely long Par 5s (I played the tips--605, 583, 568 yards on the longest ones) it was a delightful coaurse with a lot of difficult approach shots. I really have to play this again, so I don't make the mistakes I did due to lack of knowledge. Great course, wish it was next door.
Golf Club Of Wentzville
Played On 05/24/2014Quick pace of round
As usual, Wentzville is set up where there is a fast pace to the course. After bogeying the first three holes, I was one ove rthe rest of the round. Except for some aeras where the zoysia appeared to have died out, the course was in pretty good shape.
Nice people, nice course.
Stonewolf Golf Club
Played On 11/2/2013Good course, tough pin placements, good conditions.
Windy day. Apparently it was cart path only and no one told me (I had to rush to the teebox, even though I was 10 minutes early). It wasn't until hole 9 that someon yelled at me for being on the fairway (going in on the entrance and leaving on the exit posted). It would have been better had they explained that when I checked in. Only complaint with the course was the sand. Not raked, wet and hard as plaster board, so no way to dig into the sand to get the ball out.
Far Oaks Golf Club
Played On 9/15/2013One of St. Louis' best
Far Oaks is one of my favorite public courses in St. Louis, with tee boxes of different levels of difficulty. Each hole is different, and most have a lot of "character" in their make-up. With 2 of the four Par 5s reachable in two for most golfers, yet punishing with a ravine and water it you make a mistake, it gives the average golfer hopes to have an eagle putt. The elevated tee box on #16 par 3 is a fun one to hit and watch as it travels on the green. The "Pro Tips" on the GPS are very effective.
Acorns Golf Links
Played On 8/23/2013Fairways and Greens vs. Rough
The greens were, for the most part, in great shape on this hot day. The fairways were in good condition. Unfortunately, the hot spell and lack of watering in the rough made it look less appealing. It probably is a beautiful course in the spring, but in August, it was looking a little bleak when you got off the fairway. The gentlemen that checked us in was outstanding and very friendly. I wish it were closer to my home (58 minutes), as I would be playing it more frequently.
Pevely Farms Golf Club
Played On 5/7/2013One of the best and most interesting public courses in St. Louis area.
The course, as many know, is interesting and challenging. The first hole is a pretty, looking down, hole. The next 4 are holes you can par easily, and then the Bermuda triangle can turn a good start into disaster with 3 difficult holes. #9 is an good par 5, and 10 is an interesting shot if you can fade your drive. #11 is difficult, but you have to aim slightly left of green to get a good result. #12 is a challenge, and #13 is an easy par. #14 always plays more difficult than a short par 3 should. #15 is straight, but protected by a bunker. #16 looks easy, but a bogie is not bad there. Same with #17. And the finishing hole is fun, as you can think about how aggressive you want to be, yet have to avoid the bunkers.
Innsbrook Resort Golf Course & Clubhouse
Played On 5/1/2013Excellent shape
Excellent shape in the fairways, despite the rain. The greens were a little long, but they were true. Very enjoyable round.
We're sorry that your round wasn't up to par. Please come back and let us make it up to you! Thanks!
