What is going on with the tee boxes?!

Would give course 5 stars if not for the condition of the vast majority of the tee boxes. I've played this course dozens of times over the past few years, but never saw tee boxes in such disrepair. They are full of sand fill and it's almost like teeing off with your feet in a bunker. If you don't dig in as you would in a batters box, you will lose your footing. Ownership has got to invest in restoring those boxes before I would consider returning.

Nice Find

Been hearing great things about this course for some time now so finally decided to try it out. Very nice staff and tee boxes, fairways & bunkers (found myself in one a bit too often) were in great shape. Greens rolled very true at what I would consider medium speed. Loved the par 5 home hole. Will definitley add this course to my local rotation.

Great Experience

Always wanted to drive over to Daytona from Orlando to play this course and can share the it was most defintitely worth the drive. Proshop, curb & ranger personnel were friendly & accomodating. Played the Hills course which was in excellent shape despite all the rain a couple of days prior. I found it challenged both my course management and shot-making skills. Greens fan medium to fast & most importantly true in relation to slope & grain.

Bring Your "A" Game

Challenging & fun course. Very fast & true rolling greens. Would have loved to play with someone who had course knowledge, but unfortunately all in my group were first-timers so that just doubled the challenge. Can't wait to go back.

Can't wait to go back

Was only in Vegas for 4 days & wish I could have played a 2nd round. The course was interesting & challenging with some nice views. Loved the contours & the elevation changes. Played a few days after overseeding so the only bummer was the cart path restrictions (did some walking in 98+ sunshine) & not being able to experience what I presume are carpet-like fairways & faster greens, which were still a bit slow after obviously being punched not too long ago. But all the more reason I can't wait to go back.

Consistent Conditions

I’ve been playing this course for years & it’s always in good condition despite a very few areas that never seem to completely dry out except during droughts. The greens always run true, but there are very, very few straight putts on any of the 9’s. Pine & Maple offer the best challenge as Oak is wide open & very forgiving for those who need such. And don’t let the shorter yardage fool you as there is a lot of local knowledge needed to score well (e.g. where those little creeks are located, where NOT to use your driver, how to read some of the greens that defy gravity due to the grain & where to land your shots to the green for the best chance for par or better). The GM & his entire staff are very customer oriented and some of the starters are a real hoot (i.e. love to razz the regulars when they hit an errant drive, but always in fun). So all of the above is why I’ve always enjoyed playing the course & will continue to do so as long as they continue to maintain it as well as they do.

Perfection

Played this course a few years ago under Disney management & thought it was nice then. However, Four Seasons has really "classed up" the clubhouse and the course conditions from tee to fairway to rough to greens were excellent. Loved being able to warm up with ProV1s (my ball) and have never seen free water & sliced fruit on a course that was not a private club.

I know it's pricey in-season, but the GolfNow deal was excellent and well worth every penny. So I strongly recommend even during the more toasty spring season.

Can't Wait to Play Again

Played the Panther (had previously played Cat) and loved the elevation changes that are so rare in central FL. Found all holes interesting with each having its own unigue challenges. Fairways were perfect and greens well kept, albeit a little slower than I had expected which is probably a seasonal thing.

Stay out of the Rough

All 9's have interesting and challenging holes. Two complaints though....first, 1 foot off the fairway & you're in 4" of very thick rough on every hole. I accept rough that thick 5-10 yards off, but too penal for a just-miss. Second, tee box grass is a solid 2". Makes it a challenge to set your tee to the desired height.

Otherwise, love the course.

Rough is out of control

5 hr round for no other reason then searching for balls just steps off the fairways and even greens....and we weren't the only ones with this problem based on the number of other victims' balls found while searching for ours. It became comical when we didn't think about losing a stroke or the cost. So if you are the type of player that hits every fairway & GIR then you'll love this place because the greens are excellent. If you're not, beware. I for one won't go back until the Fall when the grass starts going into its dormant stage.

Great Course

As always, course was in excellent condition & there are many challenges to keep you on your toes. But there is some necessary local knowledge to play this course well (many holes, especially on the back can be tricky to the eye), so if you end up out there as a newbie, try to get yourself paired with a local.

Going to Miss this Course

This is a very nice and adequately challenging course that is very well maintained, however the greens were a bit slower than preferred. Was sad to hear that Marriott sold off the property to a developer that's planning retail & condo properties. What a waste of a beautiful green area. Was told it closes Mar 2015, so play while you can.

Nice established Arnie Course

Course had solid challenges and was pleasant to the eye. Only issue day I played was undissolved fertilizer granules had been spread all over all the greens except 1. This made choosing a line a best guess.

Challenging course

As always staff was great and course was in good shape. Only complaint was that the greens were a bit slower than usual, which screwed me up speed-wise all day (user problem of course) & that may have been due to their aerating planned for the next day.

Great challenge as always

Course from tee to pins in excellent condition & we were right on schedule pace of play wise, which was surprising considering the fall-like winds (i.e. gusts upward of 20) we encountered at some of the more elevated areas of the course.

Perfect greens

Greens are pristine but fairways could have a tighter cut and most of the tee boxes need a lot of work (i.e. many slope side to side or up and are very bumpy). I would expect more for the non-golfnow rate.

A solid challenge

It's been a long & lousy winter up here and the course is still recovering, which is the only reason I didn't rate as excellent. Up until a couple of yrs ago, I only played this track occasionally because I considered the rough much too severe (i.e. U.S. Open length). However, a couple of seasons ago I discovered that had changed for the better & when I inquired with the ranger, learned a new groundskeeper had been hired (amen!). So I increased my frequency of play there & learned to appreciate the challenges the course has to offer. All 3 of the 9's (my favorites are the white & blue) are more than playable for the 25 handicapper, but all level players will need a good putter because the greens, which I find roll very true, are the primary course defense on many holes...and some of the pin placements will really test your reading skills (i.e. speed & line are equally important).

In summary, very nice venue with lot's of room. In fact it's probably almost twice the acreage that a 27-hole'r would be built on today and there's only one hole that is lined with visible homes, but they sit will off the rough. So if you like a challenge, especially when you're on the "dance floor", you'll really enjoy the place.

Oh and one last thing, keep an eye out for an American Bald Eagle. Don't recall when I saw him last but when I did, I found it a sight to behold. I actually had the luck to catch him tearing into a snack right on the Red #8 fairway that parallels a small lake. So cool!
