Mystic Hills Golf Club
Played On 06/21/2018A Hidden Gem in Northern Indiana
You have to check out Mystic Hills if you are ever up in the N. Indiana area. The Pughs are fantastic folks who would bend over backwards for you.
Pros of the course...
It is fairly wide open off the tee.
Fairways are normally in good shape.
Greens are big but fair.
You'll get to use most of the clubs in your bag, if you play the back tees.
Cons of the course...
The cart paths are not in good shape.
The rough can get high enough that you can lose balls in plain sight sometimes.
The bunkers need to be re-sanded or pushed in.
The cabins they have on site are great. They stay-and-play options are unbeatable.
It is pretty obvious that they need to have more course maintenance help. More play=more money for upkeep. This course could be fantastic under the right conditions.
Come check the place out...and bring a friend.
Green Hills Golf Course
Played On 06/03/2015Very scorable but challenging
Loved my round at Green Hills. Even after 10" of rain in the past month, the course was in excellent condition. There are a few blind tee shots, so you'll want to check aiming points off the tee the first time you play it. Greens are large, but not too difficult to maneuver. Great cart paths. Staff gets an A+ for friendliness.
Mozingo Lake Recreation Park Golf Course
Played On 05/23/2015Best in NW Missouri
Best course in a 50 mile radius. Championship caliber layout. Challenging but still fun. Quite a few blind shots so beware. Bogey golfers bring enough balls.
Copper Creek Golf Course
Played On 05/21/2015Neighborhood Course Tucked in Nicely
Nice, short, yet challenging course. Most of the front is wide open. #9 gives you a good taste of the back...tight with well planned and placed shots needed. The 5-3-5 start wakes you up quickly. Good elevation changes. Greens are big and ungulating. Most slope back to front, so be below the hole for best results. Greens were quick and course was in very nice shape. Would play again with a HotDeal.
Lamoni Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/09/2015Good 9-hole Track
Lamoni's golf course is one of the best maintained 9-hole courses in the area.
Rolling Hills Golf Course
Played On 03/21/2015Nice little 9-hole track
I played this on a 35 degree morning in late march. Conditions were terrific for this time of year. Course attendant was outstanding. He said the course was under new management and shouldn't be listed on GolfNow anymore, but he honored my tee time and price.
Loved the layout of this place.
This place has a nifty, lighted, par-3 course as well.
Hidden Valley Golf Course
Played On 09/15/2014Rainy day...but the course held up
I played this course in the middle of September as a part of a tourney. Course was in great shape over than the lack of mowing in the fairways. It looked like they hadn't been mowed for 5-7 days. It played just fine even after getting about an inch of rain during my round.
Driving range is nice, but they required us to hit off of the mats.
Nice course. Would play again for the right price.
River Glen Country Club
Played On 06/27/2014Beautiful and Challenging
I played four rounds here this past weekend and was very impressed with my experience. The course was in great shape. You're forced to work the ball right to left and left or right. All of the greens were sloped back to front, so you must make sure that you are below the hole or three putts will be very common. The facilities were very nice, although the practice area could be a little better. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The selection in their tavern was a little limited. On Fridays they have beer, brats, burgers, and hot dogs for $1.50 each. You can beat that!!!
The Golf Club at Camelot
Played On 05/31/2014Busy busy busy
Camelot seem to be a very popular place on Saturday. Not only where there groups upon groups of golfers, there was a wedding going on, on the golf course. These two things didn't concern me too much. But what did bother me a little is the pace of play. I had to wait before every shot I took, unless I was on the green. At one point there was five groups on a hole and a half, with a sixth group getting ready to get on the teebox. There were no long waits, but when you have to wait 2 to 3 minutes before you take a swing 35-40 times, it could make for a long day. I think part of the reason behind this, was the length of the roof. The rough was thick and appeared to be not well maintained. There were large patches of dead brown grass on almost every hole in the rough. It was too long for your average "Saturday golfer". When groups spend 5 to 10 minutes on each hole looking for errant drives, it becomes a problem. Our group lost three balls that came down in clear sight in the rough. Sometimes it is just impossible to find them, even though they're out in the open. The greens were fairly fast, which is normally a good sign. The size and shape of the greens at Camelot can be difficult to maneuver, especially when the green speeds were as hot as they were. When you add the rough length with the greens, you're going to be in for a long day that might not be enjoyable for your golfer who only golfs once or twice a month.
I can't comment on the food or beverage or facilities, because the bar and grill was closed due to a wedding reception.
The Preserve on Rathbun Lake
Played On 05/22/2014Hidden Gem
The Preserve is one of the best conditioned and well run courses I've played in many years. They are literally in the middle of nowhere, so not many people know about it. It was ranked the #5 public course in all of Iowa in 2012. If you find yourself with time to kill in central Iowa, you must check this place out.
Bethany Country Club
Played On 05/21/2014Small town course
This place has some challenging greens, but that's about the only positive besides its a golf course. The fairway and rough are indistinguishable at times throughout the year. Some teeboxes have been under repair for 3 years now, so you tee off from the "fairway". The built a brand new clubhouse area that is hardly ever staffed.
Rock River Country Club
Played On 5/24/2013Nice Course
Rock River is always in great shape. It is a very challenging course.
