Glad We Played

Our 4some was in KC for a buddies golf trip and I chose this course entirely based on the reviews on this site. Glad I did. The course is in what seems like an isolated area, but has plenty of houses around it. I liked the set up. Clubhouse was great, although the food choices were limited. Plenty of beer choices though. Course was in great shape. Every once in a while a few bumps on the green from recent aeration but nothing major. Starter was very friendly and the course was crowded, trying to get everyone going after a golf scramble. We started about 15 minutes late but still played in 4 1/2 hours. I really thought it would be over a 5 hour round, but the player assistant seemed to keep things moving. Great course and a great day. We stayed downtown KC and it was about a 20 minute drive. And worth it!

Great Scramble Course

Played here in a scramble which made the course more interesting. I probably would have been frustrated had I played my own ball on a normal day. The course was in pretty good shape. The cold and the wind added to the overall difficulty of the course. Greens were tough. Always staff below the hole on this course.

A return visit

Played here several years ago and found it to be a fun and interesting course. I played again recently and still found it fun and a bit challenging. Honestly I wanted to play a few different courses while visiting KC but because the other courses do not update or post anything on their calendars, I found those courses to be filled with events during my stay. Oh well, I liked Adams Pointe before, why not try it again. It didn't disappoint. I found it to be in very good shape. If I would have remembered some of the holes from the previous time I played I think I could have scored better. Staff was friendly. Starter let us go early and immediately put a twosome behind our 4 some. Not very good planning and we immediately let them play through. Still an enjoyable round.

Great Muni Course

Played here on our way to Kansas City. Easy access from the interstate. Our group of 4 was impressed with the course conditions and staff friendliness. Some hills to conquer and the day we played a couple of the par 3's were long and uphill. Made for a great time.

Nice Course

Nice layout with some long holes and some reachable par 5's in two. Condition of the course was very good, but some of the bunkers needed some attention. Greens had been aerated about two weeks prior to my play, but were in good shape. Horned sheep roam several areas of the property and seemed unconcerned about any golfers. They generally stayed out of the way and were something different to look at on the course.

My favorite in Nashville

I played 3 courses in the Nashville area during a hot weekend in September, and although each course was great, this one stood out more than the others. The price was the highest out of the courses I played, but this place is run as a first class golf experience. Great driving range/chipping area, two practice greens, attendants loading your clubs for you, plenty of marshals on the course to maintain pace of play, and a detailed GPS in the carts lets you know just how far each bunker or water hazard is from your location. Gives the exact distance to the pin, not just to the middle of the green. A few too many commercials on the screen between holes but not a big deal. Landing areas on some holes were tight and every green was fun but very challenging.

Fine Municipal Course

I played in a scramble here so I'm not sure what the cost to play 18 would be on a weekend. The course is laid out well, with several bending fairways. It was in excellent shape with fantastic greens.

Great course

Picked this course as a place to play on the way to Nashville and I'm glad I did. Course was in excellent shape, nice layout, great lake views and abundant wildlife. Deer walked right up next to our carts. They started us on #10 which wasn't a big deal. Didn't see a driving range so come ready to play.

Course was in nice shape

For as dry as its been in the area, this course was in great shape. They must water the fairways all night because some spots were still wet in the morning, but it made for a green, lush fairway. Anything past the rough was hard as a rock, but everything else was top notch. Most of the holes are fairly easy, with a few challenging holes on the back nine. Groups tend to back up on the par 4 15th hole island green tee box. Everyone wants to go for the green off the tee, (approximately 235 from the whites) but few are successful, making groups to hit again from the drop zone, slowing down play. If you do hit the green an eagle is a real possibility with birdie more of a reality. I go with a group to this course yearly and I believe its in the best shape now than at any time in the past.

Well Run Course

Staff friendliness was my first impression of this course. It's no fluke either. I tried to play this course a year or so ago and got rained out after 9. Staff was friendly and accommodating then, and was again on my return visit. From check in, to bar staff, everyone was great. Course was is great shape except for those that don't repair their divots on the green. Only a couple of the many sand traps looked to be under repair, but not a big deal. Pace of play was excellent and as we took a break at the turn, the manager asked us if it would be okay to send a threesome out ahead of us on the back 9. Very nice in making sure we were alright with his decision. What a great idea, being nice and accommodating to those that choose to play your course. Other golf courses could take a lesson from The Rail. I don't get to Springfield often, but when I do, I'll be playing here.

Like the Course

I hadn't played Governor's Run in over a decade. I knew I wouldn't remember the holes so I got the course guide book before my round. It helped but didn't show a few obstacles that were on the course, (creek/ditch, water areas). It wouldn't have mattered if I could have kept the ball in the fairway. It was pretty dry and the ground was hard in most places, making a good shot run out further than expected and putting a misplaced shot deep into trouble. I do like this course and would have hit a few different shots had I known the hole layout. Overall, a very good course at a respectable price.

A Slow Day

I played the Fort several years ago and couldn't wait to play it again this year. Some heavy rain had washed out some areas and the course was cart path only so the pace of play was very slow. Course was in great shape. Starter filled us in on the local rules before we headed out. Marshals on the course tried to keep things moving but it began to back up fairly quickly because it is a challenging course and cart path only that day. Expect to see deer crossing the fairways and other wildlife while golfing. Some forced carries and elevation changes make for a few very difficult holes. I thought the price may have been a little high, but overall a great place to play.

Wazjd-

We appreciate all of our customers feedback. It is unfortunate to hear that during your round it was cart path only due to weather conditions, but great to hear you still enjoyed your overall round. We would love to have you come back when conditions are not affected by unfavorable weather.

Great Course

Chose this course due to its top 20 listing of Indiana courses and it didn't disappoint. Clubhouse was nice sized, driving range was in very nice shape. Rain the previous day had packed down the bunkers but other than that the course was in great shape. More rain interrupted our round but the course handled it well. We were on #9 which is probably the furthest point from the clubhouse. No place to hide from the rain since the turn does not come back near the clubhouse. Maybe a shelter near 8,9 or 10 would be nice. They have a snack bar they call the halfway house but it was not open and it's located at the intersection of holes 3 and 12. So once you are out on the course, you're on your own. Overall I loved the course and would play it again. About a 35 minute drive from downtown Indy, but well worth it.

Should be in Indiana Top 20

This course was one of my favorites on a recent trip to Indianapolis. Clubhouse looks like an southern mansion, inside it's not as extravagant but still very nice. Driving range and putting area were nice, carts seem new and plenty of yard markers on sprinkler heads which are easy to find. Nice layout to the course. I thought is was challenging yet very fair. Fairways were in excellent shape and so were the greens. You can see the layout of each hole as its played and aren't surprised by any hidden hazards. You're not too far from downtown yet it feels like you are far away. I played in a scramble so we paid more than normal, but the posted prices were between $35-$40 for 19 with a cart. Very good value. I would play this course again in a heartbeat.

Old Style Course

Based on the reviews I chose this course to play. When I saw that it was in the top 20 Indiana courses for 2015, it got my attention. I was anticipating a more picturesque clubhouse, driving range, course ranger, etc. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice course that I would play again, but it should not be the #8 best course in Indiana. The clubhouse is very small, and that's ok. Chipping and putting area is good, as were the fairways and greens. GPS in carts had "just the basic GPS yards to the center of the green", no hole layout, etc. That's ok as well, probably a step up from similar type courses. Staff was friendly. A good experience overall, but just not a top 20 type course.

Needs yardage markers

Greens-great shape; fairways-fantastic shape. The only complaint I had was a lack of yardage markers. The 150 pole is very evident on every hole, the 200 or 100 is sometimes tough to find even in the fairway. Some sprinkler heads have yardage markers, but most are missing any kind of distance indicators. Score cards are as basic as you get, yardage and that's it. Same for the tee box markers. The sign says its hole number 2, but doesn't say its 630 to the green. I still love this course, but for the price, an upgrade in the yard markers or gps in the carts would make this a 5 star course.

Fine Course

This course costs a bit more for the standard rate compared to other courses, but 3 of the 4 players in my group got discounts, making it very affordable. The course was in great shape. Starter on hole #1 is nice, although our tee time was late/mid morning and tee times were already running late. Pace of play was slow on the front 9, but not unbearable by any means. Pace picked up considerably on the back 9. Greens were in great shape.

Needs Some Work

Walters Golf just took over the course and not a minute too soon. I gave it three stars only for the potential because right now its probably a two star course. Greens were generally in good shape, the fairways were awful. Even though they are Bermuda grass, these fairways are way behind in condition. It looks like years of neglect have taken their toll. On some tee boxes it was hard to tell where to hit your drive because you couldn't tell the difference between the fairway and the rough. Hopefully Walters can turn it around in a year or two because it can be a challenging course and fun to play. I used a Walters golf coupon and played 18 with a cart for $10. A great deal for a spring warm up. Carts were extremely dated and generally in poor condition and the clubhouse was out of cups with few options for soft drinks.

Fun Place to Play

Very hilly course tucked away on the north side of Sand Springs. It can be very difficult the for someone playing the course for the first time. Many blind shots off the tee box and huge elevation changes makes it hard to know where and how far to hit your shot. I would play this course again. It was a very nice course at a reasonable price.

Great Course

Even though the course was extremely busy, pace of play was good. Starter shack hands out cart keys and announces your name when your tee time is up. Not a hard course but you need to hit the ball straight or you are likely behind some trees. Greens were hard and fast. Nice course for the money.
