Good early season round

We were pleasantly surprised to see Pole Creek offered as a hot deal, it was too hard to pass up. We found out that the course had just opened ~a week ago. The folks were super friendly. They did tell us that given the rate, the 9s were set - Meadows & Ranch. Still, all 3 are good. The fairways were in excellent condition. The greens didn't suffer from the winter ice. Nice! They were still healing a bit from aeration. There is one hole - #6 on Ranch where Garmin GPS indicates there is more room before the water...check it carefully before teeing off. The day turned out to be stellar. We enjoyed ourselves. We enjoyed a dinner at the restaurant afterwards. Thanks!

Great course, a bit beat up by winter/weather

This is always a course I look forward to playing. Today was no different. The staff was very friendly. The check-in was seamless. The course was cart path only, due to rain, I think. Some didn't see that despite it being on the door and at the check-in desk. That made for a bit of pressure, even on those of our group in carts. I chose to walk, since usually I can keep pace with cart path only folks. The course seemed a bit off the usual excellent conditions with the greens apparently suffering from ice, some linear aeration lines?, and unusual bunker conditions. Still, it was a fun round. Drinks on the patio allowed for watching the weather roll in, cool. I look forward to coming back when the course is in its usual glory.

Beautiful day out

Today was a glorious day to play some golf in Colorado with temperatures in the 70s and sunshine. It was a very easy check-in with nice folks. The course was in pretty good condition, given especially it was covered in deep snow a couple weeks ago. The greens were in good shape. The fairways were on the tight side, but it is early season. The pace of play was good. We had a good day out, thanks!

Good day, 1st open day after snow, nice

This is a good course that sometimes is just the ticket for a stimulating, fun, engaging day out. Today it was just right for a too long snow break. The check-in was seamless. The staff was welcoming. The course was in good condition, in particular after just melting out. The geese fortunately had not made too much mess. The fairways were good, the greens were pretty darn good again first day after the melt out. Enjoy!

Better than expected conditions

We stumbled upon this Golfnow offering. It was their first week since opening. The fairways were in great condition. The rough wasn't penal. The scenery was not obviously affected by the fire. The greens escaped winter kill nicely, though the aeration effect was still evident, and the green speed was on the slower side. It was a fine day out. Thanks! The season looks to be a great one.

A couple notes: the hot deal time apparently locks you into whatever 9s they assign you, in our case the original 9s. Looking at the course tee sheet could tell you which to expect.

There were no cart path restrictions.

Hole #6 tee shot on Ranch plays 10-15y shorter than Garmin GPS indicates.

The restaurant is open with no mask requirements.

Good day out late in the season

The hot deal popped up on golfnow.com. it was too tempting to pass on it. The forecast was cold and windy, but hey we Coloradans know how to adapt. The staff was super friendly and apologized for the front 9 being closed. A short warm-up and off I went, 36F with~15-20mph winds, first off!

#10 is like a ski run, green, screamer downhill, some dull yellow range balls in the landing area to remind you to hit white or bright yellow off the tee, a bit blind for the 2nd shot, try to keep it dry between the hazards. #11-13 were downwind/cross wind, fun! The fairways were in really good shape! #15 was a bit challenging 235y into the wind. Good fun.

Despite the frozen ground 1/2" below the green, the greens were actually receptive. #18 is a good finishing hole with adjustments for the uphill approach, 3 clubs with wind today.

It warmed up to 46F.

Good day. Thanks!

Good course, windy! conditions, still playable

This is a good place to play on a weekend. There are tee times, and the prices are reasonable. We picked a windy day, which significantly added difficulty, It made for 300y drives downwind and 200 y drives into the wind. The sideway winds on #3 and #13 make for challenging adjustments, kersplash! The course is in pretty darn good condition for November. The fairways are healthy. The greens putted pretty darn well, too! The folks here are always so friendly. It's a great place to play.

Solid course in good conditions

This is a convenient, reasonably priced, suburban course with enough challenge to keep one engaged but not too much to make it tedious. The check-in is all online with prepay. The course is quite walkable for those who like to walk. The fairways, greens, and teeboxes all were in good shape. The 1st 4 holes feel like a gauntlet of sorts, but the course turns to go mode after the 1st 9. #7 turns out to be the riskiest tee shot, because a well-placed drive can go 300+ and reach the next group ahead if you nail one. So, a bit of a gap by #7's tee is helpful. #9 is the narrowest hole, but you can go iron, iron...assuming you can hit it straight enough. #12 is a short, birdiable par 5. Water on 3 of the 4 par 3s add to the challenge. There are some leaves that can hide balls, like on #15 to the left of the fairway, but it is fall. The ground is firm, so you can get some good roll on the drives. #18 provides a solid challenge for getting home without too much anguish. Enjoy!

Good, solid course with friendly folks

This course is a solid option for a good challenge without excessive tricks or twists. You'll have plenty of wide open fairways, but don't forget to plan your tee shots as water and OB can gobble up the wandering minded golfer. The greens were in good shape and rolled well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a good place to get a nice round in away from the COVID madness.

Beautiful course, busy day

This was a treat round for my wife. We arrived to find limited parking. A large fundraiser tournament for women was finishing up as we arrived, and another optometrists' tournament was about to start. The round was listed as walking, but there were carts...they just needed to turn them over after the earlier tournament. The round started a smidge behind. The group in front of us were a bit new to golf? The front 9 went fairly well if a bit slowly, but the scenery took our minds off the pace of play. It's gorgeous! The back 9 went okay, but the group behind us were a bit impatient getting a bit too close, as we were rate limited by the others on the course...they hit through us a few times. The sand in the traps was a bit variable, but it's probably the COVID-19 situation. The experience was overall pretty nice, but pace of play can make for impatient fellow golfers. We like this course!

Good day out in good but hot conditions

The deal on golfnow.com was hard to pass up, especially with a reward code. I was paired up with 3 friendly guys. Check-in was a breeze. The range was open for irons. The putting green is open for 10 minutes prior to tee time for up to 4 people according to the sign, but it wasn't crowded. They had a towel water bucket out, nice for #1, #7, & #10 rewettings. The course was in good condition with fast greens, especially on the downhill putts. The rough wasn't too rough. As usual, the houses are close, I think we hit a few too many. Pace of play was good for the 1st 3/4 but backed up at the end, no big deal, a few minutes wait at maybe 4 holes? The round went in ~4h. This is a good course to work on non-driver tee shots. I hit driver 7x, maybe 2x too many...too greedy? One of our group used irons the entire round without too much trouble. The bunkers were a bit variable in condition, one very soft sand (#8) and the other (#10) distinctly firm. The beverage cart person came by a bunch, nice in the hot weather. I needed 5 bottles of water walking the course. This course rewards accuracy over distance. It is a bit like stepping back in time.

Engaging, well-designed course, super friendly staff

This was a course that's been on the list to try. Good reports and a twilight rate lured us out. The staff made the check-in easy. Rangeballs without COVID-19 time constraints were included, a nice bonus. We started on #10. #11 requires a bit of carry to avoid the ESA, it's 182 to center from the black tees, & 115 from silver. #13 has an inobvious, ball eating creek just before the green. Many greens were guarded by greenside bunkers. #3 is a raised peninsula green, don't err long. #4 is a really fun, tough island plus green. The black tees are not on the annoying cheat grass covered mound behind the gold tees, they are further, follow a walking path further from #3's green to find it. An extra ball or two can be useful if you fade. The course seemed quite well-designed, especially if you are playing the silver tees as a lady golfer. My wife found it still engaging without feeling like those silver tees were an afterthought. Nice job, Mr. Johnson! Golf surfcarts are an $26 option, though you have to reserve one well in advance. They're justifiably popular. Some of the ponds have nice wildlife like turtles, goldfish (#18'), herons, egrets, pelicans, cormorants, bass, and carp. This is a fun course that will engage most of the recreational golf crowd. Enjoy! We did!

Great course, great staff, a treat

This is a really nice layout with stimulating holes and plenty of challenge. The tee time popped up as a hotdeal last second, uncommon, hard to pass up! The staff made the check-in process and warm-up a breeze. The range and practice putting green were open. Up to 3 carts/tee time were available. Contrary to cooler month rounds here, a cart is very nice in the summer. We were paired up with a couple of friendly guys, nice. The GPS system is synched with the actual pin locations, sweet! The round started out almost perfectly. The course then breezed up a bit and engaged us for a good challenge, the course won, but it was a fun and engaging ride. The course is in fine shape, great fairways, reasonable rough, consistent but tricky greens. This is definitely a course where if you have enough time, you want to play all 27! Ah, the folks here make it easy to leave the woes of COVID-19 behind...at least for a few hours. Thanks!

Good course, fun day, bumpy greens

Playing here always feels like a treat. The staff are very nice. The COVID-19 restrictions limit you to using the range only 15 minutes prior to tee off, durn. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in quite good shape. The weather was nice but breezy. The course is always engaging. The bunkers were in pretty good shape. Oddly, the greens seemed suboptimal, perhaps the winter was hard? If you fret about your score, you may find the course devilish right now, mostly taketh. Still, the greens were receptive and even held my wife's hybrid approach on #13 for her tap-in birdie, sweet! A go-to non-driver tee shot would have been handy. This course lets you leave life's burdens behind...at least for 4 1/2 hours. It's always enjoyable at The Ridge!

Good day, really nice to have onsite dining

We play Spring Valley to get a fun round in at a course with a relaxing setting and a chance to see some wildlife. We were not disappointed. The range was open, nice. The check-in was seamless. We played as 4 walkers, since the course is quite walkable if you like to walk. The conditions were pretty good, although some of the greens seem to be a bit irregular, but it wasn't bad enough to keep my wife from going birdie-birdie on 2 #6 & 7. One buddy had never played before and remarked how nice a course it was. There were hawks, frogs, a muscrat swimming in a creek, big carp, and other birds. We were surprised and delighted to be able to enjoy a tasty meal onsite on the patio afterwards with a cold beverage or two to cap off a really nice day out during this COVID-19 thing. Kudos to the staff!!

Hot day, challenging course, open tee times

We got a rematch. With the COVID-19 era, tee times can be hard to find. Fortunately, we found a couple spots to allow us to play. The forecast was for heat, it was accurate. The front 9 here is more traditional as winds around a neighborhood. The native is healthy enough to warrant conservative play to avoid it. Going long on #4 may cost you. The back 9 probably warrants many non-driver tee shots if you don't control the shot shape reliably. #11 demands accuracy or straight shots. A driving iron may be worth adding to the day's clubs. The heat sapped as the back 9 has limited shade. Bring lots of water if the forecast is sunny and hot!

Good, solid course on a hot day

This is a course I play when I'm looking for a reasonably priced walking round on a moderate level difficulty course. The range and practice putting green are now open, nice! The check-in had the minor hiccup that when you selected 2 for payment, you were returned to the main menu, but the lady at the window got it all straightened out. I got paired up with a good partner for the day who got a PR today, congrats! 5 birdies and 2 near misses for him!. We both walked. The course was in pretty good condition with the exception of a few tee boxes like maybe #15. The cups were changed to the EZ Lift, and those are GREAT! One bonus feature is that you can refill water at the water fountain after #7 & #9. It was hot. It's funny seeing all these singles in red carts driving around in different directions, like ants in an ant farm on #16 & 17, like a dozen going all around. The native grass is growing taller making it harder to find stray shots, but it's all good. The greens putted well. The staff here is always friendly. The restaurant and bar is open for takeout.

Fun course, good day, thanks!

This course was inviting enough to give it another go with less wind. It played more predictably with a gentle breeze. The check-in was a breeze. The driving range & putting green were open, nice! The conditions on the course were good. The bent grass greens putted fast and didn't break as much as say Overland's, as my golfing group noted. I was paired up with a 3 some in carts, which was not a problem given the full tee sheet. This course definitely bares its teeth with trees and some native grass to hide one's golfballs. There is a fun exec 9 if 18 wasn't enough. This time the coyotes stayed away. Nice bass in the ponds. I like this course, I'll be back to play it again! Thanks!
