Ballamor Golf Club
Played On 08/27/2015Just a great course
This is a pines course. I saw some people mention it was a links style, but maybe just barely. I really like the layout. It is always in good (or better) shape. It really has a nice feel to it. It can play as long as you want. The last hole is one of my favorite finishing holes.
Don't hesitate to play it if your a mid handicap. It is pretty generous finding lost balls.
Mountain View Golf Course
Played On 08/15/2015Sloping fairways
This course is fun to play. The condition always seems to be average, nothing to scare you away. Many of the fairways slope to the side (though you are not really in mountainous or hilly terrain.)
A few of the par 4's are longer and reasonably challenging. Though not "special", I would play it more if it were closer. some of the back (read further from the clubhouse) are pretty fun.
There is a range here.
Harbor Pines Golf Club
Played On 08/01/2015Nice, just Nice for Egg Harbor TWP
I enjoyed the course, but I don't know that it is worth the costs. The conditions are good (as I'm told they always are.) The organization at the bag drop and first tee are good. I saw a ranger a few times. He questioned our speed even when we were almost hitting into the group in front. But, for the record, the speed was good. 4:15 round on a Saturday at 2pm.
Overall, I guess I felt other top tier Egg Harbor TWP courses make me feel more welcome. BTW, $35 for a 9 hole replay after 6pm, ouch.
Woodcrest Country Club
Played On 08/30/2014A tough course just turned public
This was always a forbidden fruit. I lived close but could not play. well, its public now. It is kept in great condition. The staff is very friendly. The other golfers here tend to be retired or business types and are quite friendly. Everyone is and feels welcome here though, play this one!
The course plays longer than the card. The fairways are fair but demanding. The bunkers are kept very well.
White Oaks Country Club
Played On 08/21/2014Getting better each year
I have played this course a few times each year. It seems to get a little better each time. The conditions are overall good. (The first green always seems to have issues, but after that not bad.) The layout is very pleasing. I could play here regularly if it were closer. There is no driving range. They have a net to hit a few warm up shots into if you want. If you are using a coupon, be sure to have it with you. Same for GN receipts.
Seaview - The Pines Course
Played On 08/07/2014A great Jersey Pines course
This is the first time I have played this course. (I usually play the Bay course when in the area.) I was very pleased. I would bump this above BHP course. The fairways were wide but not much after that to the tree line. You can usually play out of the first 10 feet of trees. The greens rolled very true. No forced carries. Sand was a bit "stoney", but not too bad. They really control the pace here, so it was smooth. I will definitely play this one many more times.
Seaview - The Bay Course
Played On 07/17/2014A Classic that is a pleasure to play
I really like this place. From the middle tees, the course is not long or overly tough. But it is challenging. (If you want an extra challenge. the LPGA Shoprite Classic is here each year, play the week after - shaved all around lightning fast greens.)
The greens are always in good shape. The views of Atlantic City are awesome. They have done a great job controlling greenhead flies, but wear some deet.
You really have to experience this place. Many legends have stayed and played here.
Rancocas Golf Club
Played On 04/12/2014Almost always in good shape + Value
I have played here many times over the last 20 years. In the last 4 or 5 years I think the course has improved. The greens are always decent, the fairways average, and rough just OK. The driving range is right next to the 1st tee, so if you are early, you can warm up. I would not say it is special, but you really can't go wrong. It is sneaky challenging.
Vineyard National Golf Course
Played On 10/27/2013A good course for something different - it's fun to play
This is a very nice course. The course is well maintained however they do have drainage problems after a big rain. They also have a goose problem. This course is more open than the website leads you to believe and you only see the vineyard on 1 hole. This is not bad thing, the course has that manicured feel and if really fun.
Inniscrone Golf Club
Played On 8/10/2013Get a yardage book
If you have never played this course before, get a yardage book or have a GPS. Not for yardage, but features. This course has a lot of blind shots. There is an elevation change on every hole. I really enjoyed the layout, but the uneven lies in the fairways got me. I hit all but 2 fairways, but still had trouble scoring. This was my first time playing here. I would go back if it were closer. The fairways and tee boxes were in great condition. The greens were not bad considering all the rain we have had.
Scotland Run Golf Club
Played On 7/25/2013Each hole is unique
This is a great course. It is on an old quarry or something. every hole presents different visually and provides its own challenge. Playing from the Blue tees here can make a big difference in how it plays, so I suggest whites first. There are a lot of hazards on this course, so assume if you can't see where you landed, it probably is not good.
This place is always in great shape. They had a bad year on a few holes about 2 years back, but all that is behind them.
Finding a deal is tough. At full price, this place is still a reasonable deal. If you need a place to take an out of town client, this may be it.
Bella Vista Golf Course
Played On 7/13/2013Course Knowledge Helps
This is a very well kept course. Course knowledge would help. Consider a yardage book if its your first time. The island green is pretty generous. The 18th (a par 3) is a visually strange hole, but fun. Overall I enjoyed the course. If it were closer, I would play it more.
Blue Heron Pines Golf Club
Played On 6/2/2013Always in great shape!
I really like this course. It always seems to be in great condition. They have a range for warming up. The clubhouse is great.
The course is well bunkered and each hole presents a unique challenge.
Beckett Golf Club
Played On 5/30/2013good value for the money
This is a nice 27 hole layout. It is a great value at the normal rates. Plus you can always find a deal. The other side of that is that the rough is rugged and the greens are just OK. It is a great laid back place to play 27.
Indian Spring Golf Club
Played On 5/25/2013Upper end for a municipal course
This course is always in reasonable condition and has some challenging holes. The best part is that the layout is robust in that every hole feels different than the others. Great deals in the afternoons.
The Links Golf Club
Played On 9/7/2012Great course in a quiet setting
This course has started offering reasonable afternoon pricing. It is always in good shape. (It is a pine baron course so the soil is sand like; so watch for aeration dates.)
I really like the layout. It is not a long course. The first 2 holes (par 4's) are really short...after that it all seems normal. Over all it can be a tight course. The back 9 is quite tight. The greens roll very true. Remember, the regular length Men's tees are the Blue here, not the white.
This place is a great deal under $50. Play it!
