Seascape Golf Beach and Tennis
Played On 07/22/2015Heartbreaking!
I set out to play a solo round of serious golf on my dream course, but in reality I lost half a day's pay to go be coach and caddie for some strangers on a course with sloppy greens.
I grew up in the area, and as a child (late 90s) we'd spend Veteran's Day weekend at SeaScape. Now that I've grown up and have taken on the bad habit of golf, I made it a point to save up and play a round at the old stompin' grounds. I've only been playing golf since May of this year, and I've yet to play a round solo.
Yesterday, I took a half day off at work and went to play my first solo round as what I thought would be my dream course. It didn't go at all as planned:
When I arrived no one greeted me and I wandered around looking for a cart attendant for 5 minutes.
Then I was told I'd be put with a foursome. I explained the sole purpose of my outing was to play solo. He said that when you buy through GolfNow you don't get that option. I said well, I'll pay whatever I need to pay to play solo. He said it was impossible the course was too full. I'm not in the business of telling people their business, but it didn't seem that full.
So, I was put with a threesome. REALLY NICE PEOPLE. However, they were even less experienced than myself, and I ended up playing Caddie and Coach for the next 4 hours. It was impossible to focus and concentrate and was a wild goose chase. I enjoyed their company, and would host them again at my home course any Saturday of the year.
Everything up to this point was just expectation management type of stuff. My biggest disappointment however, was the greens. I have never seen those greens in such rough shape. The Golf Garden's executive course across the street has better greens, and that place is just a step up from a goat ranch! I'll just say this much, putting is my strongest asset to my game, and I hit the green in regulation on all four Par 3s, 3 Par 4s, and 1 par 5, and still only made par twice. It was rough. They're sandy, bumpy, and nearly scalped in a couple spots. Total. Bummer.

I made my tee time and then started reading reviews, I saw people calling in a cowpasture and almost canceled… Boy am I glad I didn't ! This place it was great! Some the greens are rough, but they look like they're a week or so from being great... Other than that, I give this place a 8.5/10. I will be playing it again, soon!
