Still Great!

Hadn't played Mystic in a couple of years, so I wanted to see if I still loved it. I still love it. Great layout, greens rolled great in spite of its being mid-October, and pleasing to the eye. A tough course, but fair with one exception. We played the gold tees at about 6700 yards. Better be solid off the tee. The one thing that sticks in my craw is the tenth hole. Same as before, but now a par 6!? Do everyone a favour: move the tees up so that decent golfers can reach the second landing zone in two. Not fair to have to hit two career shots (drive 270, fairway wood 240) just to get within striking distance. I'm a 5 handicap, but I can't bomb it like I used to.

Convenient for me

I live 20 minutes away, so I play here often. Great and difficult layout. Well-groomed in full season, but rough in the early season (it's April after all). Not long (6400 from the tips), but you'll use every club. Some easier holes, but many will test your mettle. Low-flying, huge planes are part of the charm. Hackers need not apply. Hit it pure here or bring a lot of balls. I wouldn't pay full price here, but there are plenty of deals.

Excellent Greens

Great conditions, especially he greens, which run true and consistent. You'll likely see breaks that just aren't there, so don't borrow too much. Holes are well designed, but not much variety. Lots of fairway bunkers, but easy to avoid.

Very slow, but never saw a marshall after the first tee.

Excellent practice facilities.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the course and we hope to see you again in the near future to try Ussher's Creek which is a bit more narrow off the tee.

First Time Playing

Great condition for mid-November.

First time playing this relatively new course, in surprisingly good shape for November 10th. Large, undulating greens still rolling pretty well, I can only imagine how slick they must be in mid-season. Interesting and varied layout requiring thought, precision, and brawn in varying measures. Low rates this time of year. Challenging and fun, great bunkers, greens, and layout. I look forward to playing it again in better conditions; this time we had gusts to 70km/hr, intermittent rain, 5 degrees C.

Lots of fun, challenging.

You really have to think your way around this course. You'll use most if not all the clubs in your bag. It's an easy and pleasant walk. The course is in great shape with lots of attention to detail (gardens, paths, etc.) One distinguishing feature is the 19th hole, an island par three, great for final bets or tie breakers.

This course is not for serious golfers.

It has a few good holes, but it has been butchered to make way for development. I'm sure the remaining 9 holes will disappear under the bulldozer soon.
