My family recently played the Golf Garden of Destin. It is a very nice layout for a Par 3 Executive course. For four of us to play and renting clubs was under $100. It is Par 29 with seven Par 3’s and two Par 4’s. The course is family friendly with a full driving range and two miniature golf courses on site. This course does offer special rates for seniors and military. If you are looking for a good value, Golf Garden of Destin is your course.

Piper Glen Golf Course in Springfield is returning to a top standard. I had not played this course in several years. The course was a little different from the last time I played it. The course has went through some financial difficulties in the last year, when the previous ownership filed for bankruptcy. The new ownership group is working on returning Piper Glen to a top level golf course. The day I played the course was in the late afternoon when they offer a twilight rate. The fairways were great shape and so were the greens. The course is definitely making a comeback. You can tell some former bunkers are now filled by grass. Other than that, my playing experience was good. I will be back to play this course in the future.

Bunn Golf Course in Springfield is one of the oldest golf courses in town. This course is part of the Springfield Park District. It is a very competitive eighteen hole Par 72 located on the south side of Springfield. I played nine holes on this particular day but I have played the full eighteen through the years. The course is well maintained and the rates to play are very reasonable. I recommend this course to play in Springfield.

Shambolee Golf Course in Petersburg, IL, is a wonderful course in the heart of where Abe Lincoln lived. The course is minutes away from Lincoln's New Salem State Park. It is a beautiful and challenging 18 hole layout. The pace of play was great as I played 18 in just over three hours. Good was very inexpensive. The staff was friendly too. I will be playing this course again.

Country Hills Golf Course in Greenview, IL, is lovely 18 hole facilities that is 30 minutes away from Springfield. It offers a challenging layout in the middle of the countryside. The day I played the course I was able to walk up and play 18. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Lunch was very reasonably priced too. I played the course in three hours. I recommend this course for anyone to play.
