Blackpool North Shore Golf Club
Played On 08/13/2020Immaculate
This was my second visit here.
A played a few years ago and nothing really stayed with my about the experience.
All I remembered was it was in good condition and an open course with quick greens.
The condition of the course today was perfect. It was immaculate.
The course it’s self requires simple golf. Like all courses really. Just keep it in the short stuff. There’s no trees but the rough is punishing. It gives you a relaxing sense to unwind your shoulders and let rip, but I wouldn’t. It is a lovely course but not overly challenging. The walk is easy. The wind wasn’t howling today,, just a nice breeze that did make you think about club selection a little more.
We were stuck behind a two ball for 11 holes which was a bit frustrating. One of the lads I think might of been his first or second round. I know we all start somewhere so just plodded along behind them.
Members and the guy in the pro shop were very pleasant..I would Recommend the course to anyone. It is lovely. Not played many courses this summer where all the courses was immaculate as this one.

I’ll be honest.
I’ve played golf around Manchester for 30 years and I’ve never met members of a golf club this friendly.
I’ve been a member of 4 different clubs and played all other the north west. No other club comes close.
I’ve never heard of greenmount until recent. I like trying new courses so arranged a four ball.
The course was immaculate.. Fairways were just lovely. If I had to nit pick, there was one tee block with no grass, but it was flat so for me it didn’t matter. That was the only thing I could even think of.
The lay out for being my first time was strange This is where members really helped us out. Didn’t even know it was a 9 hole course until we turned up. In saying that though only a handful of holes play the same. I said strange because some holes have two fairways and 2 greens which was nice, so it felt a lot different on the back 9.
If you haven’t played it, I recommend it to anyone. I’m a 5 handicap but enjoyed the challenge. Stay straight and your good like any course.
Since I now know the lay out I’ll be returning just to enjoy the greens. Ran so true with good pace.
Again the members were an absolute credit. I’m not one for writing reviews but thought it deserved one. Thank you for the warm welcome greenmount.
Saddleworth Golf Club
Played On 08/24/2020Twice in one week!
I played this course on Monday and Wednesday.
First Impressions were excellent. The pro in the shop, sorry never got her name, was lovely.
Really explained the course, what she expected from the visitors. Just took her time and made you feel welcome.
The course it’s self is lovely. Both days I played the day before was torrential rain. Didn’t see one puddle. The course is on the side of a hill but drainage was superb.
The strange part was the greens were very soft. The ball would stop dead to where it landed. When you walked on the greens you expected them to be slow. They weren’t. The roll was fantastic. The greens are some of the toughest I’ve played in a long time. The breaks look little but often aren’t. If you decide to play this course and see a two inch break. Play for 4 inches.
The fairways and tee blocks were immaculate.
The course isn’t hilly compared to some. But it is up and down and a few parts take there toll. To be on a hill it’s layout is fantastic.
The members are lovely and welcoming. Especially if you treat the club with respect.
Anyone who hasn’t played it before should. It’s a challenge. Strange that the first time I played a shot 74 but 75 on the return. Thinking that knowing what to expect would help, didn’t.
Thanks Saddleworth, throughly enjoyed.
Walmersley Golf Club
Played On 08/19/2020Tricky
First time I’ve played this course.
Definitely would return. Course is tricky for a first timer as we were unsure where we were going. Couple of blind shots that really help if you know where to aim.
There wasn’t much to complain about. Our tee time was in the middle of a mid week medal. Since we were the only four ball we had to let a couple of groups through.
The tee blocks were a little patchy and uneven.
Everything else was excellent. Greens very receptive and great roll.
Fairways and rough were at a great length and condition.
The course is tough on the legs when walking. Nothing horrendous or to steep but constant changes, if you struggle mobility wise I might just give it a miss.
Members very pleasant. Clubhouse very welcoming.
Overall a good experience.
Werneth Golf Club
Played On 08/02/2020All to do with preferences
Over the summer me and a few friends have been trying to play new courses. This time it was Werneth
I’ll get the negatives out of the way first.
It’s a beginners course. Great for beginners to high handicappers. It’s fairly short but tight.
The tee blocks really let it down. The tee blocks grass at times was as long as the rough.
The worse part was the time between shots. Slow play was a grind. Just constantly waiting. To the point I started giving chipping lessons to my friend to pass the time. We gave up on the 17th and called it a day. I don’t believe the cause of this was from members but a couple of lads learning to play.
The good points. It’s a tricky and interesting course. Fairways and greens were lovely.
The professional was very friendly. Gave us a map of the course to help us get around.
The members were some of the friendliest I’ve ever met. Happy to chat and have a good laugh with.
I would return but hopefully on a quieter day when I just want a knock around for a bit of fun.
Bolton Golf Club
Played On 06/15/2020Greens to die for
This course has always been in good condition, but today the greens were perfect.
Ran so true and with a good pace.
The rest of the course was lovely. Tough testing track as well. Does help to play a couple of times as some shots will catch you out. A lot of undulating ground which can punish you if on the wrong side of it.
Members are very friendly.
North Manchester Golf Club
Played On 10/10/2018Great course
Tend to play this course at least once a year.
It’s got a fantastic lay out, really test all parts of your game.
Fairways were just immaculate, same as the greens.
Only negative was that we were playing in a two ball and got stuck behind a 3 ball. Me and my friend have respective handicaps of 2 and 12 so aren’t the slowest, but weren’t given any option to play through. But I will concede that the weather was beautiful, especially to be October and a lot of golfers came out to play.
Recommend this course to everyone.
Great Lever & Farnworth Golf Club
Played On 10/04/2018What a shame!
Normally this is a good go to course, I’ve played here many times. Generally it’s in good condition, maybe boggy through the middle part of the round at times.
Yesterday, the tee blocks were not the best but not the worst I’ve seen either. Fairways were immaculate and so was the rough. The bad part. Greens were awful. Never had to experience anything as bad. Huge holes throughout, impossible to keep a putt online and you can see there trying to grow them out so majorly slow.
I like this course, normally good value for money but it’s going to take time to repair those greens.

Played On 07/26/2018Worse I’ve seen it!
I play this course every year and it was a bad day to start. M6 was closed by Preston so we were over an hour late. Staff were lovely about it. But couldn’t relax into the round as a no smoking ban is across the course. Fully understandable with the heather like a tinder box but when you need one after a long journey and a couple of bad shots lol. The tee blocks were just bare! No grass on hardly any of them. I understand the weather has been glorious but the tee blocks could of had a quick hose down here and there. The fairways were good considering. But I did hit at least the centre of 10 fairways that nearly then ran out of bounds because of how hard the ground was. The greens were good. Been aerated so a couple of dodgy lines sometimes. Then when we came off the course a pint of coke and a bottle of corona was £8.25. It was a long frustrating day. I’ll definitely be back when the court has seen a bit of water. I know that every where is struggling. But I’ve played lesser courses who have managed better than here which was a shame.

Played On 06/04/2018What a beauty!!!
First time playing this course but it won’t be the last. It’s hilly at times, mainly between tees but not too taxing to make it unjoyable. It had some lovey holes. Luckily the pro was great at explaining the 7th and 13th. If you haven’t played, don’t go further than 200 off the tee. The greens were the only downside, you couldn’t chip and run you would go through the green, every time. You had to either get a lot of spin or tower shots in. The greens were also patchy but ran pretty true to their credit. Recommend anyone to play. Especially on a hot deal.

Played On 05/15/2018Great little course!
I’ve played here now about 6 times, never well though! It’s a tight course with some lovely interesting holes. You can’t over power this course. It’s was in very good condition when I played. I’ll play it again before winter hits. Well worth a visit if not to much rain has been coming down. A few holes are notorious for getting water logged. Recommend all abilities to play here.
Pike Fold Golf Club
Played On 05/14/2018Always good!
Found this course about 2 years ago. I like to play different courses but this one I’ll play a few times a year. The course is normally in great condition but never played it when wet. The greens are lovely. Members are super friendly! Spoke to one who told me about the club and how it’s always quiet which is fairly true. If you’ve never played be a recommend it to anyone at any level. Not many times I had to hit drive which made me enjoy thinking about course management.
Chorlton-cum-Hardy Golf Club
Played On 05/09/2018Nice course, better price!
I play this course every year. Every year it’s in good condition, this year the greens weren’t quite as good as usual. It is early in the season and they look like they just need a little more growth and good cut. It’s a nice little course and for the price I paid a bargain with no complaints. Fairways were excellent and tee blocks were mainly fine. Recommend all golfers. Big hitters or high handicappers will find it interesting. The bar staff were lovely and pro shop has everything you need.
Ellesmere Golf Club
Played On 05/07/2018Great little course!
This course is always in good condition. It’s not the longest course but many interesting holes make it more difficult than you can imagine. It’s a classic, you better hit it straight course! I play all over the north west and I’ll play this course a few times a year. I paid £16 on bank holiday Monday for a 3pm tee time. We pretty much had the course to ourselves. Didn’t go into the club house but it looks lovely. Recommend to anybody, first time playing though will be difficult because some holes are that tricky. You’ll enjoy though.

What a stunning course. I honestly didn't know much about this course. I had no expectations but came away looking at how much membership was. I know courses come down to preference but for me it had everything. It was a true golfers course, if you made a mistake, you were punished. The tees, greens and fairways were lovely. The views were very nice. The course had dog legs, blind tee shots, bunkers to catch every stray shot In the right places. The greens we're aerated at the time of play but still didn't make me not enjoy the course. Would recommend maybe hiring a buggy unless you like a good walk. It does take its toll. Recommend the course to anybody. If your not so straight of the tee it will be a long day as the rough and heather will swallow the ball, I lost almost every stray shot i hit. Will be playing again very soon.

Doesn't seem that you can go wrong playing Golf in north wales. First time I've played this course and won't be my last. Course was in good condition,
Fairways a little burnt but that's being picky. Greens ran well all day. Scenery was beautiful. Helped by the day we played being glorious sunshine. Pro shop was well stocked and very friendly. Couple of practice nets were good to loosen up. Never went in the clubhouse but looked nice with it over looking the 18th green. Recommend this course to anyone looking for a challenge, low or high handicappers will enjoy this course.

Played On 07/13/2017Great little course
This course isn't for the big hitters but more about accuracy. It's got some great holes to work a lot of different shots. It was in great condition when i played. Greens maybe on the slow side but I do think there normally a little bit quicker. Was fairly quiet when I played so that was a bonus to take out time.

20 years ago I was a member briefly of this golf club. I fell in love with it then. Having not played it in at least 15 years I wanted to make sure it hasn't changed. It's still exactly the same accept a few trees and bushes have been removed. Anyone who wants a hidden gem of a golf club, play this one. It's worth the extra money compared to the others. It's got a great challenging lay out. The course is normally always in good condition and it's probably one of my favourite courses I've ever played.
Chorlton-cum-Hardy Golf Club
Played On 06/04/2017Great little course!
I first played here as a junior 15 years ago. Little has changed, which is a very good thing. Some interesting little par 4s and the two par 5s need two amazing shots to hit the green. Generally it's always in good condition. I do my best to play here a couple of times a year. Recommend to any player.
De Vere Wychwood Park
Played On 05/09/20172nd attempt much better
First time I played this course I was disappointed! People highly recommended it but the general condition was poor. From tee box to green. Yesterday was much better. It was in good condition all round, only shame was that the greens are still having a little work done on them from the winter, so they were a little slow and bumpy. Guarantee that most courses are like this at the moment and that give it a week or 2 and they'll be quick and true. I will be coming back here no problem. Some really good holes to test all abilities. Does help playing here a couple of times. Some holes aren't as straight forward as they seem. Overall very good course like most de vere venues. One thing I do love is the yardage markers on the sprinklers all over the fairway. Great help.
Thanks for your feedback. You were spot on with your analysis, the course is now in excellent condition (early June) with the greens running true.
We look forward to welcoming you back soon and remember you can book your tee time direct with us at https://go.teeitup.com/19990#courses.
