Wow. Save your money

For a discounted rate I got to play it - and I paid too much. 3 temp greens on the front 9, and a closed hole on the back. The course was in such disrepair it was impossible to putt on any green and honestly were close to the same speeds and cut as the temp greens. Our playing partners joked about it but honestly- it wasnt worth it. As for the hole that was closed - not sure why since it looked just as bad as the rest of the course, certainly no worse.

Played here a few years ago and loved it - couldn't have been more disappointed.

HORRIBLE tee sheet management

11:57 tee time -- tee'd off at 12:20 thanks to an outing going on that they tried to put 4somes out in between gaps...we pulled into the clubhouse after 18 holes at 5:15. completely unacceptable.

we should've been given a free drink at least to ease the pain.

Another Beautiful Round at the 'tects

What can I say - this place keeps me coming back. This is the 5th time I've played it this year already (not a member either) and it's always in prime condition, regardless of season. They will be aerating in the next few days, but they use small tine holes so the greens will still be in very good shape. Tee to green, this course plays incredibly fair with generous fairways and multiple tee locations.

Soggy; Great Layout

I played here with a friend on Sunday. The course was soaking wet -- expected for this time of year. For the value, can't beat it. Will have to play again in season to make a fair conclusion about the greens/rough/fairways. Great for getting out this time of year and knocking the rust off the clubs (and swing). Holes are very fair, only a few blind tee shots and overall a well laid out and fun course.

Thanks for opening up the season at Mattawang. We appreciate you giving us a try. Hopefully you will come back when the course gets dry enough to begin our maintenance program. So far the course has been too wet to get any equipment out. Glad you enjoyed your Golf in February!

Best of the Poconos - Hidden Gem!

I've played here numerous times and have always found the course to be fair, well maintained and always a great value. Greens range from fast to slow depending on aeration sessions in spring/fall. When the greens are in good shape, they're the truest in the poconos (and quickest). From tee to green, the course is very fair with no hidden trouble and the couse plays different from each set of tees. Doesn't matter the players handicap - the course is challenging for all boxes, a true test for any player. Pace of play can vary depending on the weather - if it's sunny and the wind is down; the tee sheet fills up fast and the rounds get longer - when the wind is up the course opens up and you can get a round in very easily under 4.5 hours. The proshop guys are great and the cart girls/cafe attendants are friendly, courteous and overall great people.

The practice facilities are great - grass tee boxes with 10-15 'bays' marked off, an approach range as well as a multi-tiered putting green commensurate with what players will see on course. Top notch for a younger course - will only get better with age.

Good Course, VERY tough in wind!

played off the tips in 25-30mph wind and wish i moved up. course was in great shape however the bunkers could've used some more sand versus stones/pebbles. greens were very quick and receptive. will have to play again once it's warmer (was hovering around 45*F not including wind chill).

Fantastic Course/Layout, great price, a bit out of the way

I've been playing this course for about 5 years now, and it never gets old. With 3 sets of 9, challenging forced-carries on many holes, nice green complexes and varied tees; this course has so much to offer. The back 9 greens (blue course) were punched not too long ago so putting wasn't too great but, overall the course was in very good condition given the long winter. If you get out this way (and it IS a ways off the beaten track), you have to play this course.
