What a lovely surprise this course turned out to be. I had to be coaxed into playing this by a friend who assured I would enjoy - he didn't lie!
Yes it's not a championship course but having played many of both illustrious and mondaine golf courses I respect a course's limits. It's clear to see this is a course that it's members cherish and green keepers respect, as the condition the three times I have played this season has been as good as can be expected.
This course represents a chance for mid or high handicappers to score a birdie or three and for low handicappers to enjoy as close a score to the par as they wish - so an enjoyable round awaits. Par 3s are good, with exception of the tenth. Fairly easy course, which is flat, not a lot on on course long rough and it's in a lovely setting with excellent course conditions at a very competitive rate... What's not to enjoy!

Wow

A course described as the best in the local area... Best assault course perhaps! Couldn't fault the staff, course conditions was decent and clubhouse facilities were good, but if your wanting a game of golf then this is not the place for you - unless perhaps you are partial to combining golf with hill trekking.
I would advise that if you are intent on testing your game on this course that it would prove prudent to arrange a buggy.
I only managed the first seven holes before deciding this was not golf as I usually know it and threw in the towel. Unfortunately this is the first golf course I have actually walked off due to its gradient being beyond what is reasonable - and I've played a lot of hilly courses.
On a more positive note - the 6th hole (Par 3) is a gorgeous golf hole.

Greenburn

Staff & members clearly appreciate their course as is kept in very nice condition. Not a difficult challenge so makes for a fun round. Greens had nice contours. Only concern was a bit much on course out of bounds for my liking as its tight enough without! The par 3s are lovely, with exception of the tenth - lets the course down that hole!

This course may be a bit off the beating track but is well worth the travel! Stunning setting to play golf and has a very exclusive feel, but not in a snobby way. Lovely layout and some cracking individual holes both short and long. Can be a forgiving course should you miss in the right areas and there are plenty of chances for birdie to be had should you hit the ball well. Greens are small but have nice contours which makes for exciting moments should the putter do as is expected!
A must play for any keen golfer of any ability who loves a bit of parkland heaven! Only criticism is there isn't enough par 5s for my liking.
