Very dried out

Staff extremely friendly. Pro shop, starter and beverage cart.

Course was really dried out. Hitting from fairways were difficult. No give to the ground.

Greens were slow for being dry. Pin positioning was crazy. Most were on a slope.

Price included cart. Cart needed to be cleaned up. It was filthy, probably not washed all year. Also needed a tune up. Struggled to drive up minor inclines.

I hadn’t played Lakeridge in several years and it might be several more before coming back. The course needs work.

Tough Course

I was a ClubLink member for about 12 years, so I’ve played Cherry Downs over 100 times. But not for about 5 years now. Cherry Downs was always a tough course. Does not visually look it but plays tough. And it has not changed. If you are playing well, Cherry Downs will ground you and humble your golfing skills.

It was in pretty good shape. Greens in particular were rolling fast and true.

Staff were always the friendliness and that has not changed either.

A more than fair price for playing a great, challenging course. Not for beginners.

Best Starter

I’ve played here several times this year using Golf Now. Hot Deals have always been worth it.

Check in is always efficient. The starters are terrific every time. Getting us out on schedule and chatting us up. Best starters in the area.

The fairways were in terrible shape today. Cut way too short and leaving it very muddy. The greens were okay. Bunkers I’m not sure of because I wasn’t in them.

Pace of play was 4 hours and 38 minutes. Seemed longer. Both foursomes in front of us were slow. And got even slower towards the final few holes.

Ending near to the season. Probably the final round here this year. The course isn’t in as good a shape as some of the others nearby.

See you next year. Thanks for the games.

Great Shape End Of Summer

Today the course was in great shape. The greens were rolling true and pretty fast compared to earlier this year. I’d say it has improved quite a bit since a month ago.

The staff are always friendly and accommodating. Never a problem.

Beverage Cart was present. Good timing. “Where is the cart girl?” She came over the horizon.

Girl in the clubhouse was super nice, friendly and offered ice and lemon wedge with drinks.

Overall great day.

Did not see the beverage cart

It was a scorching hot, humid day and never saw the Beverage Cart in 18 Holes. Unacceptable! The group in front of us were walking and must not have been impressed either.

When I went into the Pro Shop after the round they said there was only one cart out there for both courses. That is not Service. Someone could dehydrate pretty easily out there with conditions like today.

The course was in good shape. Greens unusually fast. Bunkers were rock hard but luckily I was only in one and it was along the fairway on a par 5. Pace of play was fantastic! The walkers in front were quick and we played in exactly 4 hours. Never waited, ever.

Fun course

This is a fun course to play with a tougher back nine. The fairways were freshly cut and the grass must have been long because the clippings were everywhere. It would have been nice if they were swept. The bunkers were rock hard. Alright for the fairway bunkers but difficult around the greens.

Today played more to a bump and roll game. Playing it short. Hitting the middle of the green meant putting from the far back. It was rolling and not holding.

Played in just under 4 hours.

One beverage cart for both courses is stupid on a hot humid day. We didn’t meet up with her until the 16th Hole. Unacceptable. Someone could have passed out on a day like today.

Course Great, Clubhouse Crap

The Pro Shop staff were very friendly and courteous. So was the starter and everyone else.

The course is in great shape, greens were rolling well and fast. A lot of fun to play a course with ultra fast, tap the ball greens.

The Club House waitress was brutal. I very seldom lose my temper but she was that bad. Ignoring me for 15 minutes while she played on the computer. Never acknowledged that I sat down. Then I had to enter the kitchen to find her again because she was too busy laughing with the kitchen staff. A quick snack took over an hour. Another waitress took over because she knew I was mad. She ruined a good day.

Thanks for taking the time to review your round with us. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the golf course and conditioning of the course.

We have shared your comment to our F&B manager. We always strive for better service than you experienced, and will ensure the team improved in that facet. We hope to see you back for another round to enjoy the course again.

Got through some slow players

The Pro Shop staff are always very friendly and efficient. Checking in has never been a problem.

The Starter is the same. He has us off just in time. The two others that were supposed to join us were late checking in and getting to the first tee. It was a good thing we didn’t have to wait for them. Later on we can see that one guy was giving lessons to the other on the course. And he wasn’t very good either. Not good enough to be giving advice anyways.

The two in front of us were brutal. Playing from the Blue tees and probably shooting over 120. Both all over the place. Plus they were driving their carts too close to the green and off the cart path on the par 3’s. We tried to call into the clubhouse but no one was answering.

We got through them and a walking Threesome on the 10th Hole. Then played the back 9 in 1 hour 40 minutes. We loaded our car, returned the cart and chatted with the Pro Shop staff. Pulling out and driving away I can see the Three walkers still on the 17th hole. Whew, we got by them all. It would have been a long, long day.

I like this course a lot. But they should match people up better and get groups of four out. Too many twos, then four, then two and another two, then three, etc. A Marshall should be available to keep the pace of play to a reasonable time.

Great Day

The sun was shining, there was a gentle cool breeze, and the course played in a few minutes over 4 hours. What a great day.

We booked our tee time through GolfNow and arrived quite a few minutes early, so they let us out early. Once we played through a couple of other golfers, we were away and never saw anyone until the 15th hole.

The staff here are terrific. Everyone.

After being a Private Club member for over 13 years it is amazing and refreshing to get some pleasant service for a change. Lakeridge treated better then any ClubLink course.

Great Value

Golf Now special deal on Lakeridge is great value. The staff are super friendly and check in was immediate, with no hassle. The starter was terrific and got us out right on time. The course is in good condition and the greens are too. Played with three others and they were very friendly. We had a great time.

Maybe the only thing needed is to open up the right side of the fairway to accommodate my fade.

Will be back

I haven’t played this course in a long time. I’m not sure why. The staff are super friendly and the starter was very accommodating in getting me out.

I’ve never seen the beverage cart so many times before. Six times over 18 holes. Terrific.

The course is in good shape. The greens are in very good shape. The traps were inconsistent.

I like this course very much and will be back soon.

Another Great Day

Another great fall day for golf. As usual the Pro Shop was very nice and got us going with no problems. The starter let us out a little early as there was a group of four coming and we were two.

We wound up catching the groups ahead pretty quick but one let us play through. There was no beverage cart out yesterday which was disappointing.

Course conditions were very good. Pace of play was 4 hours and 18 minutes.

Great deal with GolfNow. Will be back before the snow comes.

First Rate

Another beautiful sunny fall day to play golf. I came as a last minute single and was teamed up with three regulars. Great guys, and had a great time. Played in 4 hours and 18 minutes. It didn't feel that long, as play kept moving along. Maybe three times we waited at the tee area. I'm always amazed at how many times we see the beverage cart on public courses. This time it was four. At ClubLink (former member for 12 years) we were lucky if we saw the cart once or twice. The service and friendliness of all these public courses in the area are fabulous.

Quick Play

Lakeridge is always friendly and accommodating. The Pro Shop quickly processes you and lets you know what the day will be like. The restaurant coffee needs work. It is very weak. Hot but weak. There was no starter this day so we just went.

We played the course in 3 hours and 22 minutes. Saw the cart girl four times, the Marshall three times.

What a great pace of play. Love coming here during the week.

Uninteresting Course

Wheel / Grind Courses

It has been over 15 years since I've played here last, and I remembered none of the holes. Lots and lots of dog leg holes that are not very difficult, nor are they picturesque. I find it difficult to find a signature hole.

The distance between holes is ridiculous. Very long. Almost impossible for this course to be walked. The walkers would slow pace of play. Luckily it was too hot and we took carts. Most golfers we saw had carts too.

It was over 30c today. Wicked hot. By the 14th hole the food and beverage cart was no where to be found. We had to call the Pro Shop to find out if there was anyone out. Mill Run should have had more carts out on days like this weekend. Other courses loaded up their marshals with free water bottles to help golfers deal with the heat. (Oakridge)

The Pro Shop for checking in, the restaurant servers for breakfast, the bag drop and cart pick up area, and the starter were terrific. Very pleasant and welcoming. The golf course was a huge let down. It will be another 15 years before coming back. There are just too many better courses in the area.

Fun Round

Golf Now is a great app for looking up deals for last minute golf for a single player. I've used GN now for numerous rounds and it has saved me time and money.

Lakeridge staff are terrific. Very friendly pro shop staff.

Beverage Cart comes by quite a few times during the round. I've noticed that Cart is around more often then when I was a private member at ClubLink.

The course is in decent shape. The tee off areas should have seeding available. They are getting roughed up.

If you are a golfer that cares, you will notice that a lot of the greens need fixing. Very few other golfers fix their ball marks. On one hole I've fixed up to 17 ball marks. (not this round)

I like this course and will definitely come again.

Fun course

Lakeridge

This course is under rated by most living in the Durham area. It is very reasonably priced compared to the other nearby courses. The course is in fairly good shape. Some fairways are a little beat up but the greens are well cut and roll smooth.

Lots of picturesque holes. Varying lengths that make it challenging. Pace of play was very good. 18 holes in 3.5 hours.

I didn't play this course until later in the season but will definitely be back in the spring next year.

Good Day

First time playing here this year. Course was in good condition. Fairways were fair. Greens were rolling well, however other players need to repair their ball marks. 11th hole I fixed 17 ball marks.

The clubhouse was chaotic. The value was not there in their food.

Enjoyed the day. Will play again.

Suggest only booking on GolfNow.com because it is a lot cheaper than phoning in or just showing up.

The Rock Golf Club

No Services

I expected so much more because I got hardly anything. This was the first and probably only visit to The Rock.

Arriving in the bag area, No one there. Checking in the pro shop, no one there. A first class golf club would have someone always around to greet their guests. But not at The Rock.

Driving in from Toronto and the restaurant does not serve breakfast? They only had THE worst previously frozen muffins that were tasteless and soggy. Disgusting. Strike three and we haven't even teed off yet.

The golf was good. Thankfully! The course was in good condition. The greens were annoying. The ball rolls off even though you hit the green.

The next and last mistake was staying for a drink and meal before heading back. The food at The Rock is terrible. We should have left and eaten at McDonalds in Gravenhurst. That is how bad the restaurant is. The crispy wings were soggy (again) and drowning in a awful BBQ sauce. The Rock poutine was apparently the worst thing my buddy has ever tasted.

Grandview, Taboo, Rocky Crest or Lake Joseph is a lot better and you get some service too.

Taboo is at least closer too. Save the extra drive and go there.
