The Ledges Golf Club
Played On 10/06/2016Big let down
The course was in poor condition. Plus the set up was annoying. Our foursome decided to play the white tees which is about 6200 yards on the scorecard. However, most holes had the white tee markers moved up to the next tee box making the course play much shorter. Also the pins were not alternated (front, middle, back). The guy who set up the course for the day should be fired. When we checked in, we were told that hole #16 was under construction and would play as a 230 yard hole instead of a 500 yard plus par five. This should have been mentioned on the course's website. Had we known, we would not have played it.
Sand Hollow Golf Resort - The Championship Course

Spectacular course in great condition. Very payable as fairways in general are quite wide. Tricky around the greens. All four of us agreed this course is in the top 10 of all courses we have ever played.
Superstition Springs Golf Club
Played On 11/03/2013Quirky layout.
A lot of blind shots, bumps and mounds. Tough around the greens. Many unrepaired ball marks on greens throwing putts off line.
Club West Golf Club
Played On 03/20/2013Fun course.
The course is well-laid out with a good variety of holes - requiring you to shape shots both ways. You have to think your way around the course (e.g. where to lay up, where not to miss, and especially staying below the hole on several sloping greens). The greens were fast but true giving the chance to hole putts (which I finally did after vacationing in AZ for 2 weeks resulting in my best score even though I hit fewer fairways and greens). Played the blue tees and the course did not move several tees forward as seems to be the habit of many other courses in the Phoenix area (that was my experience anyways and is a pet peeve of mine).
The Lakes At Ahwatukee
Played On 03/19/2013It has it's place.
If you are a somewhat serious golfer, this is a great course to take a friend who doesn't play much or who is just starting to learn the game. It is very rough around the edges, but the greens are decent. The layout is interesting and challenging with water hazards and sand traps. The water is clear enough to fish balls out (we did this several times). The price was great and it even included a cart. And, we played 18 holes in 2 1/2 hours.
Arizona Grand Resort
Played On 03/15/2013Dont use your driver.
Course was in great shape and fun to play. Greens have some undulations but nothing severe and not hard to read. Had to really think my way around the course. Seldom need to use your driver. I hit a 4 hybrid on the first two holes and made pars. Came to the third hole, a par five, and pulled out my driver. Big mistake. Drove it through the fairway into a fairway trap and made a triple. Didn't hit driver again until the 10th and made another triple. Driver on the 13th and it paid off with an eagle. Nevertheless, had I left driver in the bag, I would have broken 80.
Bear Creek Golf Complex - Cub Course
Played On 03/10/2013Fun, fast round
Great course for beginners. Played 18 holes in 2 1/4 hours. My friend who hardly plays and is a novice had a great time. It was perfect for the situation.
