Tubac Golf Resort - Rancho/Otero
Played On 03/31/2018A Challenging course for the Intermediate Golfer
This is a beautiful course set amongst old mesquite and cottonwood trees. The fairways and greens were in top shape. We played the Rancho and Otero courses (each has 9 holes for a total of 18). Each course has challenging holes that keep even the most seasoned golfers working for par. The newer holes are tough, with the older parts of the courses more forgiving. There truly is a "Tubac Triangle" that makes bogey golf a triumph. I would golf there every week if I could. The resort is stunning too.
The Nicklaus Design Course at Vidanta Puerto Penasco
Played On 10/01/2017Great course if you obtain discounts
The course itself is fantastic. Lush green grass, wide fairways, perfectly groomed greens and unmatched scenery on the ocean front holes. The problem is the price. Unless you get a discount on Golf Now or get coupons at the resort after sitting through the time share presentation, the rate quoted was $195.00/player. (No discount for guests at the Mayan) We booked through Golf Now. The starters were helpful, the pro shop staff were not willing to bend on the rate even after admitting they only had 7 booked tee times for the entire day. Take lots of golf balls b/c you will lose a few unless you are a scratch golfer. You will enjoy the golf once you get out on the course.
del Lago Golf Club
Played On 07/12/2015Great greens; challenging carries over natural desert
The course was in great shape. Fairways green, greens nicely groomed. Setting was a desert course with natural spaces in front of many tees. Skilled golfers will find it a challenging course. Novices like me found it daunting in some places. Beautiful views. Very nice clubhouse. Friendly staff. I will play again.
Dorado Country Club
Played On 03/18/2015Nice little course for a quick round of golf
I've played here many times and always enjoy the experience out on the course. It is an executive course so it lends itself to a quick 9 or 18. Great for practicing your game in an on-course setting. Prices are reasonable. The best rates are late afternoon. Rainy the day were there, but that is highly unusual for Tucson. Fairways were well groomed. Greens were a tad uneven. The staff is working hard to keep the course in shape. They recently replaced their golf cart fleet. The club house is awful. (the staff is great, the building is awful) Go there for the golf, not the club house experience.
Forty-Niner Country Club
Played On 11/02/2014Nice round of golf with great mountain views
The grass is great, lush and green. Challenging for all skill levels in my opinion. I love the trees and mountain views. On the edge of town, but worth the drive. The 13th hole has a vortex that sucks my ball towards the Tanque Verde Wash every time I play there. Maybe it's just me. That's golf.
Tubac Golf Resort - Rancho/Otero
Played On 9/2/2013Challenging bunkers and water features.
Long fairways. Interesting green set ups (bunkers, slope). Beautiful high desert with massive cottonwood trees.
Friendly, attentive staff.
