Great Palm Springs Course

The North course may not be as picturesque as its sister South course, but it’s a challenging tract in great shape. Greens were is excellent shape, not any bad fairway spots, and no crowds, so the round was quick. A great place to play.

Greens Need Work

I played at the Resort about 3 years ago, and the greens were in great shape. Putting aside the fact that the greens had been aerated about 1 week before I played this time, I can say that the greens were terrible. While a few were is reasonable shape, most had large bare patches and were mostly sand. Every putt was bumpy, and I watched my playing partner miss a 1 foot putt because the ball took a bump and a left turn at the cup. It appears that the course needs to do some serious work to get the greens in playing shape.

Response from on 06/01/2018:
We are sorry to learn you did not enjoy your time at the golf course this time around. A majority of it is due to a water issue we had out here to start the season. We are currently treating the water as much as we can with chemicals. We hope you give us another shot in the near future. Also, our source of sod has not been able to grow fully ye, which leaves us with some bare spots. The sod company should be ready this month and we will work diligently to expedite this process. Thank you for your time and attention.

A Bar That Happens to Be Next to a Golf Course

Ultimately, I can only expect that Tour 18 is lining up to be sold -- it's apparent that their focus on tournaments and no upkeep of the property is about raising money before a sale. With that said, while many people have told me that there have been improvements at Tour 18, there is little to show for it. The greens have more speed bumps in them than a high school parking lot. The conditions were wet that day, and I can't complain about the lake-like bunkers or the squishy conditions in the fairways -- expected after several days of rain. However, the unkempt conditions of the greens are unacceptable -- between weed, bare patches, repaired areas, and just shoddy runs, the greens have deteriorated over the past two years. Adding in that the pace of play was just around 5.5 hours -- in fact, on this go-round, call it Tour 16 since it was too dark to play the last two holes. I can't think of a reason to go to Tour 16, except that the cart service was frequent and there appears to be plenty of alcohol on sale -- perhaps the only thing that can get you through 16 holes here. My last visit.

No Investment

While the course has lots of promise, it's really clear that no one has placed any investment into the maintenance of this place in a long while. The bridges are falling apart, the course has big potholes on it, the fairways are not maintained, and while the greens rolled fairly well, it was over a combination of grass and bare patches. In the Palm Springs areas, compared to other courses, this place is a real eye sore. Would not go back.

Good Round and Slow Pace

The course was in great condition and played well. Greens were at great pace. Reputation for slow play is well cemented...round was long and marked by no ranger presence. Cart had no soda, since the order comes in on Monday (I guess the rush hits then!)
