Torrance Park Golf Course
Played On 01/25/2021Lockdown Escape
Frozen Mid winter is not the best time to play or review this local course. Like very many parkland courses in Scotland it hold too much water in the winter months and is only at its best in Summer. However the course is long and very well laid out quite open and so very playable for all levels of golfer. It’s a bit rough round the edges especially in the wet winter months but those who brave the weather on a cold bright winter day are usually rewarded with unexpected views across Lanarkshire to Glasgow and beyond. The layout and fabulous vista are spoiled slightly but as unsightly electric sub station and associated power lines but this does not impact up the golf or take away from the course layout. Quite a few long relatively open holes which are well designed and laid out. The course could be better manicured and surroundings tidied up a bit but overall this is fantastic value for money and a really good walk with panoramic views but best choose a warm dry day in Spring or Summer as it is very slow draining heavy underfoot in places. All things considered this is a very welcoming , under rated and enjoyable test of golf with a nice modern clubhouse and good parking facilities. It’s never too busy and rarely closed even during bad weather and was ideal for getting some welcome fresh air and exercise during the current lockdown period.
Torrance Park Golf Course
Played On 05/26/2017Long and well laid out but needs some but a bit rough round the edges.
A well layed out parkland course with some good views across Lanarkshire and Clyde valley but needs some tidying up around the edges. Venture even slightly off the fairways and the rough is unfairly punishing with balls almost impossible to find but some really nice long holes and some challenging par 3 holes. A difficult test of golf and a great layout but the course and surrounds needs some further investment to better screen electrical pylons and sub station which would make it visually much more attractive and make errant shots a lot less punishing. The new clubhouse is pristine, compact and functional with a very relaxed and friendly welcome awaiting visitors.
