About
I have always been a short hitter for my handicap level but now in my seventies it is getting even shorter. I no longer look for courses over 6500 yds. but look for the tee that is just over 6000. For the question "How often do you play" I checked a few times a week because there wasn't an option saying "Whenever it is not raining, not real windy and not too cold" or in other words, it is 7 days in some weeks.

Played On 10/15/2015October course conditions
Played alone at 12:30. Did not see anyone else on the course. I assumed by the name that the designer was Tiger - not. Golf courses in Mexico usually punch and top dress the greens this time of year so greens are not very good, also coming out of the rainy season sometimes have rain damage, not much this course. The one bunker I was in was rock hard. Quite a bit of water but mostly on the side except for one par 3 which is all carry with green fronted by vertical rock face.
I had difficulty finding this course as there are no signs and my GPS didn't have it. Google maps has it. From the main road travelling north from the airport, take the exit to Neuvo Vallarta Riviera Nayarit and look for the large stone security gate off the first traffic circle.

Played On 05/21/2015Interesting 9 Holer
They are making good use of the space they have to create variety when playing 18 holes by giving different lengths and angles on most holes. I am generally not a fan of trees in the fairway and this course has several holes with this feature. However, on a short course such as this, it seems to work OK. The fairways have a lot of dips and bumps. The 9/18th hole is very difficult as it is quite long par 4, is uphill and has a near vertical bank of about 10 feet about 40 yards short of the green. I could never hit over that bank to reach the green in 2 on my best day so par can only be made by getting up and down with a blind shot from 50+ yds. Not, I would say, a fair hole.
Another different thing about this course is the red tees are the longest yardage.

Played On 05/18/2015Greens in great condition
The greens are in excellent condition for this time of year - not a bare patch to be seen. The fairways were well mowed and the rough was healthy - keep your eye on the ball so you know where to look. That being said, this is not a great course. The fairways have a variety of grasses and playing the ball as it lies can be very challenging. The front nine is monotonous as it begins with 7 par fours. The greens are also somewhat uninteresting as most have the upside down saucer shape. There are few bunkers. However, it seems to be well looked after and it was great value through Golfnow as I played with cart for under $20. I struggled with the recommendation question so I'll add the proviso, if you get a good rate.
Shorecliffs Golf Club
Played On 12/16/2013fairway condition very poor
I was extremely disappointed in the fairways that in places looked like worn outdoor carpet while others had a smattering of grass but this seems to be the norm for lower end courses in this area at this time of year. The next day I paid more than twice as much at another course and the fairways were only marginally better. The greens were in reasonable condition. The course winds through canyons and is often very narrow with side hills that tend to feed the ball back to the fairway. There are numerous tunnels, some very narrow, that go under streets. Once I got over the shock of the fairway conditions, I found this a fun type course which made one think strategy on many of the holes.
