Cimarrone Golf Club
Played On 05/31/2021Oh, the greens
Most of the greens really are in awful shape. I can remember at least five putts that I felt were going in but we’re diverted by the dead and dying grass. Most of the course is in dec ent shape and I love the layout…..but the greens need som serious help. Additionally, there are a large number of tee boxes that are also in bad disrepair. I remember #9 being resodded this winter and it’s already dead again.
Cimarrone Golf Club
Played On 01/07/2021Ok, but.....
I’ve played here quite a few times.
Course Conditions: they vary month to month. One time I met one of the six or so local owners, after my fourth or fifth time there, and not realizing they were an owner, complained a bit, but then regretted it upon realizing their difficulties. So I get it. Owning/operating a course is extremely difficult. So this was about a year ago and I was hopeful things would improve after the impassioned discussion. They have not. Greens are sketchy at best and other areas of the course are maintained with questionable standards.
Pace of play: good if no one else is on the course (obviously), terrible otherwise. There is no pre-round explanation of expectations for players who are members or players who are new to the course. Both groups are self-centered and don’t care about anyone in front of or behind them. No rangers add to the poor pace of play. Clueless. No starter at the first tee does not help.
Layout: I love it. It’s what keeps me coming back. A good challenge. It commands the best of your game.
I’ll keep playing but the downsides might keep me away at some point.
My bottom line is this (an opinion): I don’t think they ever wanted to be open to the public, but had to in order to survive. The problem is their private club opinion of themselves has not transitioned to the realities of them being a public club.

Cimarrone Golf Club
Played On 03/18/2020Still needs work.
There are some rough spots around the course for sure. A few of the greens are nearly unputtable. But a great layout and great value. Give it a few more years and hopefully they’ll have it in prime condition.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we hope to see you again in the future.
Cimarrone Golf Club
Played On 02/13/2020It’s getting there.
6.5 years after new ownership the course is improving. Still has a way to go. I counted at least four greens in pretty bad shape and there were some other areas that were scarred, unwatered, and in need of some care. But overall a great layout and not at all unfair.
Actually met one of the owners today and it put much into perspective for me. There are six owners, from what I remember, most of whom live in Cimarrone. So they care about improving the course, and it shows. I’m hopeful for the future of this course.
Through Golf Now, the 10:00 tee time was an excellent price. The staff were great. We did run into some slow play and no rangers to control that. We got through it though in 4:15. Had to skip two holes and come back to them, but it worked out.
I will play again and would recommend it to others for a reasonably priced, interesting course. Maybe in a couple more years we’ll have more improvements.
The Oak Bridge Club
Played On 03/10/2019Nice but.....
The price was right. The pace of play was right. The layout was right. Conditions were questionable. As I understand it, things are improving. Tee boxes were rough. Greens were rough but apparently are improving. I liked the whole experience very much. If the course conditions continue to improve, they’ll get much better reviews. I will, however, definitely go back, hoping things continue to improve.
The layout is tight. Target golf for sure. Don’t let the par 70 fool you. You need to be on top of your game to place some shots. As I said, the layout is good, very challenging. Lots of fun to try and get your ball in the right places. And the greens, while in rough shape ( but poss improving ) are not the typical Florida-flat. They’ve got some great undulations which make them interesting. Bunkers were pretty good, somewhat fluffy. Lots of crabgrass everywhere, by again, supposedly improving.
I paid $32 on Golf Now and, for now, worth it.
It’s a recommendation from me.
The Pointe Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2016Excellent condition
Very much enjoyed the course. As with all down in the Outer Banks, it was a bit expensive, but getting a GolfNow.com rate was helpful.
