Jekyll Island Golf Club - Indian Mound Course

Played On 01/02/2022ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED
Absolutely DISGUSTED. Played 1/2/22. 17/18 tee boxes were absolutely destroyed. EVERY SINGLE GREEN was riddled with fungus (shoutout to the 13th tee box, they had grass). Can’t believe they have the audacity to charge $60+ for a round here. AVOID THIS COURSE at all costs. It’s apparent that the staff does not properly maintain this place. Spend your hard earned money at any other course available in Jax.
The Yards
Played On 11/22/2020A new twist (kind of)
Played this after “The Yards” opened. The front 9 hasn’t changed much since it was Oakbridge. They did improve the greens. They are now very super fast and super clean. There are differences in elevation across the greens. By far the nicest and most difficult greens I’ve played in the Jacksonville area. The fairways and tee boxes were immaculate. The 5th hole, a par 3, had “a black hole” (a black colored sand trap) in the middle of the green. Overall a very nice front 9... but the back 9? It’s not 9. It’s 6. But you don’t get to play all 6, you only play 3. Confused? Yeah we were too. Add the complete lack of direction (signs) makes it even worse. We guessed what holes went where. There was nothing on the scorecard, no numbered tee boxes. And GPS doesn’t help, because it’s “new”.
We played on a Sunday morning, early. When I booked online, it was $85 for 12 holes and a cart. IMO there’s far better golf to play (and play all 18 holes) in the Jax area. The guy in the pro shop did give us the introductory rate of $65. Wasn’t really worth it at either price, but fun to play on a beautiful new course. I hope they’re able to keep it that way!
Pine Lakes Golf Club
Played On 09/27/2020Great course, horrible staff
Richard... ohh Richard. We had (what I assume was the first tee time), and you opened the doors 7 minutes prior to our tee time. Then, you proceeded to be a complete R.i.c.h.a.r.d. In every sense of the word.
The course was great. It was in pretty good shape. No cart girl. Overall had a great time.
Folkston Golf Club
Played On 08/16/2020Great hidden gem with no frills
Great course. Had a Sunday 8am tee time for 4. One was running slightly behind, but the course was very empty, so it was easy to push our time. Very few others on the course, and the ones there seemed like regulars. Pace of play was very quick. Greens were in “ok” shape, you could tell they were working on improving them. The rough was deep, if you don’t step on your ball, you’re probably not finding it. Would play again!
Paul, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.
