Course is pretty beat up. Greens had a lot of damaged portion.
Forest Greens Golf Club
Played On 06/22/2015Beautiful course with great potential.
The course is very scenic. Lots of elevation changes to make it interesting. I love that a lot of the greens are on a lower elevation than the tee or fairway, which makes for a lovely view on approaches. The only drawback is the condition of the fairways. Lots of bare spots. I was told the Bermuda grass are having difficult time growing. If the fairways were nicer, I would pay extra $20-$30 to play this course. Staff was great and the pace was expected for a low priced course like this.
Herndon Centennial Golf Course
Played On 05/23/2014Good condition
The course was in good shape. As in most municipal course in the DC area, pace of play is rather slow as expected. I don't know if I'd pay $60 for a Friday afternoon round here but I got a great deal from golfnow.com..
Bull Run Golf Club
Played On 05/02/2014course was in descent condition
The course is usually in good condition but this time there fairways were over grown. The rough was to thick and high. There were a lot of standing water in the bunkers.
The staff were very friendly except for the starter. There wasn't anyone teeing off after me for 20 min. He wouldn't let me start 10 minutes later.
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
Played On 9/13/2013Poor condition but still fun to play.
I've always tried to play here at least once a year even though it is far from the DC area. It was a fun and challenging course to play. I was, however, a little disappointed in the condition of the course. The greens and roughs were pretty beat up. Maybe it's because we are near the end of the golfing season. The pace of play was a slow. But then there isn't a course in N. VA. that isn't slow on a Friday. Maybe that explains the course condition.
Diamond Bar Golf Course
Played On 8/9/2013Slow play and condition not well maintained
You get what you pay for for this course with its fairly low price. Most of the greens were well maintained but the fairways needed more work. The pace of play was excruciating slow. I did see a marshal but he didn't do anything. There was a group of 5 in front of us! It was a Friday and there wasn't a starter to regulate golfers at the first tee.
The only positive is that the course is wide open and easy to play.
Westfields Golf Club
Played On 7/8/2013Great course with excellent service.
The course was in great shape and the staff was the friendliest I've ran into. Plus, I got a great deal from golfnow at more than half the regular price. Their regular price is a little steep but that is a price you pay to be treated like you are at a country club.
Laurel Hill Golf Club
Played On 6/27/2013One of my favorites in northern Virginia
This course is a fun course to play. A little pricey but worth the money. Some of the holes are wide open from the tee but still very challenging from tee to green. The course condition is immaculate. Green can be fast. The only drawback is that the course sits on top of a hill and it seems to be windy most of the time. I will definitely play again.
Twin Lakes - Oaks Course
Played On 11/8/2012Slow
Course is really nice but pace of play was slow. Got no help from marshal.
Penderbrook Golf Club
Played On 8/13/2012Good price but poor condition.
Tee box, fairways, and roughs were not well kept. Had lots of clay and dirt in the rough. The fairways and tee boxes were really beat up. Greens were well maintained. For the price, you get what you pay for.
Thanks for your feedback. The fairways took longer than expected to fill in but we are in great shape now. Come back and enjoy the golf and the view.
