It has looked better in years past. Greens in good shape but rough around the greens burned. Bunkers need a complete overhaul- matted sand an some weeds growing on bunkers..

We had never heard of Valley Springs but decided to take an hour drive out to La Contenta. Great decision, the course conditions nearly perfect. A couple of greens needed some patch repair but they kept the pins away from those spots. Good food (ordered food by phone at the turn). We'll be back!

Many of the fairways areas have fungus problems. Bunkers need new sand., Greens are in good shape and the new card path was long overdue.

Greens were consistent and clean, no brown spots anywhere on course.

The course, the scenery the location, the setting. All of it is magical.

The only reason I'm not going with 5 stars is the terrain being basically carved from a flat field. Maintenance is excellent for this time of year (Sept), tee to green. The total number of brown spots found I can count on one hand.

It's a 40 minute drive for us but we just love the place. Brilliant expansive layout in mountain air.

As summer commences Woodcreek is just starting to shown some brown spots but overall very playable. Like the challenging doglegs and technical short shots.

Granted we are captive audiences with just a handful course open in the Sacramento area, but conditions at Cherry Island are in the 'VERY GOOD' range, and the staff was great. As expected there was chaos around getting carts turned over and reissued (one rider per), but staff did the best job they could.

Pray for rain, lots of fairway brown spots and the greens are barely OK. Drained shapes of what used to be water features loom.

On a brighter note, we had cheeseburgers and salad at the the restaurant - 5/5 stars for that.

the course conditions, layout, pace of play all exceeded expectations.

Everything's in great shape here at Empire, except for the bunkers... most of them are matted down and wet. Overall great value.

I have a private club membership 30 miles away but when our course is closed, I.V. is the easily the next best. With a brilliant design cut into the hills, every hole has a distinct layout. Drainage is excellent, course maintenance is very good.
