About

I average 2 good shots on every hole and 1 or 2 bad shots. I rise to the occasional scramble but can't be depended upon for the straight forward hole. Pretty much double bogus.

Has seen better days

I write this giving full consideration there was 2" of rain 4to6 days ago. I have enjoyed this course in the past. It has been about a year since my last round. The staff is great. The layout is great. Good charge on the cart batteries. The tee boxes aren't bad. The fairways are hearty for mid December. The sand traps were mostly dirt/sand mix. The greens were diseased and a big distraction. They look like Dry Creek Ranch greens. 5 hours is way too much time to play 18. It's a 50 mile hike for me. I won't be back. Unless improvements are made.

Bring patience and you'll have fun

An excellent mix of open fairways with an opportunity for risk reward management. The good news is if you hit a trap you'll get an excellent chance for a good shot since they are well maintained. If you try to be a hero too often sooner or later you'll likely find a water hazard or fairway bunker. But it sure is fun to go for it! The greens roll well and held the ball on approach. Perfect 2 1/2 to 3" roughs won't hurt you too bad either. It's nice they give you a bucket of ice and water for the round. Not to mention the superb practice facilities included with the round. Be advised to use the bag drop before parking. Your cart is loaded, stocked and brought to the clubhouse patio by the attendants.

Good experience

The golf carts are newer. Tea box's and fairways are in great shape. I guess since it's not heavily tree populated the sun germinates seed well. The sand traps are about average. The greens are quite firm and don't hold well which is unusual in February. The course is very spread out. Sometimes a long minute driving between holes. Although it didn't feel like it our round took 5.25 hours. We had to wait a minute on about half our shots.. That's @ an hour longer than usual on Sacramento and Roseville courses. They shouldn't allow walking since there's a couple hundred yards or more between most holes. Overall a nice layout with lush fairways. Worth the 60 mile drive as far as I'm concerned.

Still the one.

Overall my favorite municipal course within a 15 mile radius. The fairways have very few thin lies or wet spots. The roughs are more than fair and the greens are well kept. Not super fast but easy to read and gauge your roll. To be fair, T-boxes and traps need more attention. I love the layout with ample trees, traps, water and dimples to challenge your strategy. The staff is friendly and accommodating. However, there's no marshal to keep things moving. So, we politely handled it ourselves. The slow group picked up the pace and we finished in just over 4 hours. Note to fellow golfers: If you tee off within 4.5 hours of sunset you can't play skins. It's not fair to the groups behind you. For a foursome 3.5 hours is enough time, 4 hours is plenty, 4.5 hours is generous. Beyond that means your game and etiquette need a lot of refining.

What's with the covid19 policy

Three booked the walking rate on golf now intending to pay an additional cart fee upon arrival. I was told the fee is $17 per player per cart. I was only given two keys. After inquiry, I was told they were short on carts. There were 9 carts in the ready position at 10:50am. I explained we were not of the same household. They "Were sorry". Further, I was told the cart rate was per person without consideration of single or partner sharing. If there's a genuine concern for physical distancing why was I asked to share a cart with a member of a different household? The salt on the wound was watching another player in our group with his own cart for the same price as me sharing a cart? After the round I asked again if that was really their policy to combine foreugn riders and charge the same price. I was explained that policy was universal throughout the valley! I play at least twice a week from Roseville to Stockton. I know better!

Follow up on their web sight shows distancing protocols according to San Joaquin County under section 3, (Equipment), article 3 " Only one person per golf cart, except for persons of the same household." Again I ask, during Covid19, why wasn't this health measure followed?

Seems I'm always trying to be a hero.

Always a challenge due to mature trees and a few strategically placed traps. We had great fairway conditions with only 1/2 inch of rain each week for the last month. Few thin lies but really decent overall rivaling Roseville's Timber Creek or other Del Web courses. Got stuck in one puddle trap but most looked ok. Greens are firm and don't stick or check up easily. Great change of conditions compared to some other courses like Wildhawk or Cherry. I play here maybe 7 or 8 times a year. I was really happy to see a little fluff under my ball with a fair rough and other hazards this time in January.

Shame Shame Shame

The US Kids had a shindig going on. They didn't adjust their tee sheet accordingly so it put everybody behind almost an hour from their scheduled tee time. If I was offered a free bucket of balls on the driving range it would have made things better. But nope, we had to buy our own to kill time. Anyway, the carts are super old. The greens are furry and so hard your ball barely makes a mark from 130 yards and it just won't check up. The tee boxes are such hard pan it's a struggle to stick a tee. The fairways are of less than average quality; not turf like with different grass mixes throughout. The traps are rundown and dirty. The pro shop, bar & grill are still musty and outdated. I wouldn't hang out here. There are too many other options within 15 miles that are better.

Friendly, respectable staff, fun challenging course

Staff greeted me with a smile and said I was welcome to start early. I asked to go out with somebody that played here before and they hooked me up right on time. The course is challenging with enough trees, goose neck fairways, undulations, and an abundance of traps but fair enough if you play smart and the correct tees to match your skill level. I'm @ 16 handicap on a 129 slope rating so I used the blue tees. The front 9 is the easiest to help build confidence. The back 9 should be played more strategically and carefully to avoid trouble. The traps we're mostly average condition with a couple needing fresh dust. The greens are fun and true, but maybe a little slow. (They may have been punched in early spring but seemed healed) There we're periodic water buckets and I saw only one outhouse on course. The carts had economy club and ball washers on them but two of the course washers we're dry. The practice facilities, (greens and range), were awesome. The pro shop, bar and restaurant were very nice and it looked like they had a wedding party using a nice reception or conference building with a covered patio. Overall, very nice facility and beautiful layout needing just a little attention for a 5 star rating.

Don't frustrate yourself

I come here @ twice a year since it's so cheap. There's a reason why it's cheap. No course management. Twice they punched the greens without notifying golf now. Once there was a tournament and I had to wait 30 min for a cart. Every time there's people jumping holes since it's so slow and nobody's Marshalling. Just don't put yourself through it

Just more of the same old same old

Our foursome had a @ noon tee time. We showed up @ 25 min early and we're surprised the management told us we would be starting on the back 9 and wait for his call up. So, we loaded up our carts and went to the putting green which had no pin cups in so we had to hand pick up our balls after making the putt. Our tee time came and went so my partner went to the pro shop to find out what's up. He "Hoped to get us out soon". So after watching two more groups make the turn we saw an opening and figured that was our slot. We drove up to #10 but didn't hear our call up. We decided to tee off since nobody else was making the turn. As we approached the green on #10 we heard our call up "2nd up on #1 tee" By now it was 30 min after our prepaid scheduled tee time! Anyway, holes 10-18 we're reasonably played in 2 hrs 15 min. Heading to #1 we saw a group of 6 finishing their tee shots. At this point we knew the fun was over. We played holes #1 and #3 twice and called it a day. This is consistent with course management and pace of play with the last 3 times playing here. It's cheap but I won't try again and neither will my compadres.

Was the first time the best?

I played here on 2 previous occasions having just started playing golf...maybe 40-50 handicap. On this recent occasion, some 300 rounds later, I now realize the gem quality. I found an outstanding practice facility with a large putting green, grass box driving range, chipping/bunker area with complimentary practice balls and well represented greens, traps and roughs with which to practice. The carts we're all obviously wiped clean looking new. The pro shop was well organized. It took me 30 seconds to check in. The restaurant wasn't just a bar & grill, you felt like you dined out. People were wearing their sweaters around their neck so you would expect a stuck up atmosphere but it never came to fruition. Everything was warm and welcoming. Oh yeah, the layout was sweet! The hazards we're fair in great condition. The fairways, sand traps and greens are primo. I was so glad I played with a knowledgeable friend. There are hidden hazards and layup holes that would kill a new guy. I remember at least one on area restroom and water spouts we're periodic. A ball brush in good condition on every hole. I'm playing again next Saturday and hopefully again and again. This well managed club is a fine tribute to the north valley area. Maybe I stayed with the game of golf because I remember the experience from the beginning! Was the first time the best?

Good for now but...

Great staff from pro shop to cart keeper to bar maid. Nice opportunities for clubs, beginner's and event tournaments. Dual options for driving/ sand/ putting practice. Mostly smooth cart paths. Two toilet options on course and periodic water spouts. A nice creek runs through the course resulting in several hazards. Sand traps are @ average; some fluffy but some in need of attention. The greens are nice and somewhat predictable so you can score here. Fairways are still good but.... low lying areas haven't been improved and I can see the usual sloppy conditions coming with the impending rain. This course is excellent late April to November but below average in the winter with a lot of cart path restrictions...that means slow frustrating golf. But, for now it's worth it since the people are so cool and easy to deal with. Golf Now "Hot Deals" will soon be the rule.

Pleasantly surprised

Haven't played here this year but many times previous years. Frankly, I quit coming as the quality and overall upkeep was diminishing. However, I saw lush fairways, clean fluffy traps, well kept greens and minimal broken branches and debris around. Although, the ponds do need to be cleaned and strained of muck to improve the look. It's the same small pro shop and ageing restaurant but I come to play golf and enjoy the course experience more than anything. This place has improved and now a favorite for value!

Ain't that bada bing

I take some of the blame knowing it's that time of year and for not checking first. But, the course should have provided an "Alert" to the Golf Now network that they just punched the greens. The rest of the course was pretty nice as usual. The good news is the course was all but deserted so we still had fun and were provided plenty of excuses for poor play. The green quality is normally excellent and the value is good so the drive from South Sacramento is worth it. There's no on area water buckets or restrooms so plan ahead. The Marshall brings water but provides only a small cup.

Consistency is the key

I keep coming here because I can count on green lush fairways and nice true greens. Although, there are a couple of traps that need cleaning out with fresh sand replacement. The afternoon play is always pretty fast and they do have a happy hour special to save you a couple of bucks. I wish they had a real driving range instead of a net but at least I get a few swings in to test my eye and tempo. This is my top course for value and play since you can score fairly easily. You don't have to hit 'em hard, just straight.

Worth the trip

The course has a great layout with plenty of challenges and scenery. I make the drive from Sacramento for the overall value and accommodating staff. They have one on area restroom that's centrally located within holes 5, 11,and 14 with water buckets @ every 3rd hole. The fairways give you a little fluff under your ball, the traps are decent, the greens show some late summer check marks but generally roll true. They are good size with undulations. You'll surely have some fun putts. The hot dogs are excellent and fairly priced. The beverage cart makes a couple rounds then hangs out in the shade near the rest room in the afternoon. This is a fun and challenging course in the wine and walnut country of the California Central Valley.

Can't judge book by its cover

On first look his place has all the hallmarks of a CC quality track. Nice clubhouse, restaurant and practice facilities. Once we got going we found way too many dead spots along the fairways with a consistent presence of thin lies. However, the greens were in overall good shape and rolled true. The traps we're about 50/50 with some ok and some either flooded or heavy with soil. The layout has many blind corners and without course knowledge it's a coin flip as to whether you should lay up or go for it. The yard marker poles aren't a guideline for "Position A" with regards to your approach shot as is the case with other tracks. Maybe March to June would be a better time here. Oh, don't forget to get your $5 cart key deposit when you're done!

Well kept course, crummy location

Everything is nice about this 9 hole par 33 course except the layout. If you can look past the power lines, towers, freeway and railways you'll love it. The fairways are nice, the traps are the best and the greens are primo. Not to mention the Emerald color ponds and tree lined fairways. They have a nice chipping area and practice trap along with both grass and mat driving range. Too bad it's laid out in a noise polluted location. Still it's a great practice track!

Hardpan hard to manage

The fairways are mostly wide open outlined with trees but challenging in length. There are a lot areas of thin grass and tough lies. The traps are decent with a fair amount of give. There's really only one hole where water comes into play. The greens are dry but roll true so you get a fair chance to score. There's wild turkey everywhere but that's all I ever see for wildlife. There's periodic water buckets and an outhouse on the back 9 only, no other restrooms on the course. On this day I got a great $12 Hot Deal so I was glad to come out but it's not one of my favorite courses. Nice people but It's tough conditions when there's hardpan soil.
