Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation
Played On 03/14/2024Course to enjoy your round
Good variety of holes, greens very good for being aerated recently, still offseason conditions but very playable.
Zephyrhills City Golf Course
Played On 01/04/2022Greens have slipped?
Three years ago, they had made quite a bit of progress at growing better grass on the greens. I thought they had regressed from the condition they were in then. I said I would recommend the course. I would but would explain that I recommend it if one wants to work at approach shots in particular and is ok with the condition of the course. It is a good deal at the price but I can not call the conditions average. I will say that fairways in Florida courses I have played (about 15 courses) are mostly what I would call fair. Being from Maine, most of the courses I have played have better fairways and I have played more than 60 of them.
Scotland Yards Golf Club
Played On 12/31/2021Vastly improved!
I last played here in February 2020. It was then obvious that new ownership was working to repair the course. They have done a great job. Greens are nearly all in very good shape and consistent. They rolled true though a bit slow for my taste. That is not a criticism but rather a statement of my preference. Fairways are much improved. Lies are still tight but one can play the ball down and hit good golf shots (if one plays the game that way - I do not see many others that do these days). I hope to return to play at least once a week until I go north again in M arch.
Charles T. Myers Public Golf Course
Played On 05/24/2021Good greens, variety of shots
Greens are very good, roll true, pretty consistent pace, not slow but some pace. Fairways are typical of what I have played in south: not a plush growth but my son and I played the ball as it lie with no issues. His first round in at least two years and he shot 78 so course is definitely playable as it is. Our only complaint is they need to pair up more twosomes or use a ranger. Too many think they will h it 350 like the pros causing unnecessary waits on the tee.

After some difficulties due to a change of ownership, the course is getting back in shape. The greens, especially, are improving rapidly.
The layout has more elevation changes than many Florida courses and has a variety of holes.
Personally, I liked the layout when the nines were reversed. I like the finish of what is now the front nine much better than the current par3, short par4, par 3.
Bloomingdale Golfers Club
Played On 01/14/2019Excellent day
After several years of wanting to try this course, we finally got there yesterday. Course was a challenging layout but not impossible to play if one chooses the correct tee for your ability. Greens were smooth and true. Landing areas are sufficient for the slightly offline shot most of us hit. One can score if you hit the shots. My son shot 41 on the front and it was his 3rd round in 3 months. A little back pull made the second nine a little tougher for him but gamed himself to 49. Will definitely go back although a 24 mile drive to the course.
River Oaks Golf Club
Played On 01/05/2019Good day but to soon after lot of rain
The course is fairly challenging but played extremely long today because it was soggy everywhere. Lots of rain in this area lately and we played because in 3 trips here last year it was very old (40's). I can play in 40 degree weather most of the year in Maine so do not do that in MB or FL. Greens are a little thin because they are between grasses. Liked the layout. Course seems very playable with less wind and dryer conditions

Played On 03/16/2018Fairways suffering
Greens are true and quick. Tees are in good shape. Unfortunately, either due to the dry weather, the change of ownership or a combination of both, the fairways are extremely dry and getting worse in the last 2 months.
I like the layout of this course. It has a good variety of holes but fairways need grass to really enjoy a round.
Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club
Played On 01/24/2018Great greens!
Best putting surface I ever played on. Smooth, moderately fast, very true. Read it, stroke it and, if your stroke and read were good, very good chance you make the putt. Tees and fairways in very good shape. If you come down from the north, the bermuda rough takes a while to adjust but that is not the course's fault.

I played here last year and it was obvious that the change of ownership had some negative effect on course conditions. It was clear this year that they are trying to return the greens and tees to their prior consistency. There is a good variety of holes; not too much water (a plus in Florida); playable sand traps. We arrived a little early and were allowed to go to the first tee early. Both the starter and pro shop were quick and personable. Snack was reasonably priced.
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 12/19/2013Very playable tho looks very demanding
I looked at the course layout before going to the course and wondered how I would maneuver around all the sand. However, landing areas are generous so you can avoid most of it if you plan your play and execute the plan. It forced me to concentrate on my shots and I played my best round of the year on the toughest course I played in 2013. Conditions were excellent; staff was friendly and helpful; pace of play was better than I expected based on the amount of waste areas and reputation.
Scotland Yards Golf Club
Played On 2/13/2013Typical FL Course: firm, sparse grass on greens.
As seems to be common in FL this year, greens do not have consistent grass but still seem to putt quite truly. This is a good layout with a variety of holes: flat, uphill and downhill, varied yardages. Good Par 3's; some false fronts but with an opening to run the ball onto the green if needed. Of course, it is hard to complain about any course if you get an ace in your round. Hole # 8, blue tees, 218 yards, 3-wood.
Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club
Played On 1/24/2013Not the right time.
My review is affected by a problem (temporary, I hope) with the greens. Right now, they are not in good shape. Apparently, a reseed did not take or perhaps weather is a factor. The layout is challenging but there is always a fair way to play the holes. Choose the tee for your ability and choose the shot you see ahead of you and you can enjoy this course when it is in shape. Pace of play was good.
Quail Hollow Golf Course
Played On 1/16/2013Great fairways! Very good greens. Too much sand in traps
First round at QH in 10 years. Fairways are in excellent shape. Greens are very good (too bad more golfers do not fix ball marks; only negative about the greens).Thought the traps had too much sand to play consistently. Overall layout is good, fair and not overly long from blue (2nd tees, 6,300 yds). Generous landing areas on most holes but must positions drives to have best scoring chances. Pace of play was good at 4:15 or so.
