Lots of elevation changes. Great Mtn views off the back

Played many times. Fun layout 3 par 5's on the back. Creeks ponds elevated tees and tiered greens.
Course has drainage challenges and had good rains earlier in the week, so front 9 was CPO, which caused the pace of play problem, just over 5hrs.

Rolling Hills & Great Greens

One of my favorite layouts in the SC foothills.
Lots of shots to be made.... uphill / down hill, fairways tilt left & right, and if that's not enough it will be real handy if you can move the ball both ways.
Greens (bermuda) always in good shape and plenty of movement. Bermuda fairways just starting to go dormant with the late fall.
Really nice track overall.
The only gripe I've ever had (and always will) is the 18th hole.
A par 5 with a double layup....Can't use a driver unless you're a short hitter (less than 220 off the tee) trees left, pond rt and a blocked path to the green from there, leaves 140 - 160 layup to the approach area.
It's tricked up due to the lack of length. Can be a very frustrating end to a great day on a very good course.
Would prefer they clear the trees blocking the 2nd shot to the green and play it as long 4 par, for a Par 71.
Awesome value!

9 Holer with Good Greens

Short 9 hole course. 4 par 3's, two 5's on the card but but really only one (about 480yds), the other is just 380 from the white tee. The 3 par 4's are under 300yds.
That said, really nice greens for this type of course, great for short game work. Several holes have pretty good elevation changes.
Note- My GPS was useless, this was once an 18 hole track (until the hotel put in a Resort Class Tennis and spa facility) and the current setup is a mixture from the two sides and many of the current tees don't play to their original greens.
Loop it twice, once from the whites then from the blues to give a slightly different feel.
Brand new gas carts with tinted windshields were unexpected treat.
Good value as a hot deal.

Joe Lee gem with awesome views of the savannah

Unfortunately Google sent me to the resort, a mere 30 min from the course locale. So after missing my tee time the pro shop sent me right to #1 and got me out in front of the 20 or so gamers about to start. Buzzed thru 2 groups on 1 & 2 and had the rest of the course to myself....kudos to the staff.

Really great design especially the 12th - 15th (2 par 3's a 4 & a short 5), which was built on an island in the middle of the savannah AWESOME.
A mid length track that looks tight to the eye on several holes, plays moderate from the whites forward, real nice challenge from the last 2 boxes.

Fantastic greens with moderate contouring for a fun day with the flat stick that wont drive you crazy..

Joe Lee design, challenge awaits on the greens

Fun track with good "eye appeal". Room to swing away from the tees.
Greens are good sized lush and nice & quick, BUT tiered with plenty of undulation......don't get short sided on any of them. For a S Fla course there are some built in elevations that give it great look.

Open from the tees, gr8 turf ocnditions

Greens and fairways were excelent.
Dont spray it but the tee shots are very open.
Typical Fla course, plenty of water features but mostly scenic comes into play on just a few approach's.. Greens have very good playing speed with new hybrid turf putt very true. Typical Joe lee design Fair & Fun, play it from the back tees for challenge.

Gr8 layout, foothills course with nice elevation changes.

Course bought out 4 mos. ago by pro from Kiawah Is., so they are hard working on restoring course conditions.
That said greens were the one area that prev. owners didn't slip on maintaining, they were in very good shape, great speed, challenging slopes even on the valley holes.
Tee boxes are fine, as are most fairways, a few of them on flat areas have had some issues with creek flooding/drainage from heavy rains in the summer. They are putting a lot of work and $$ into refurbing those areas.
Very nice layout with varied terrain. A mountain area foothills course, many holes with fun though not extreme elevation changes. Creeks winding through most of the course, and some great mtn views.
Pro shop is minimalist with snacks & pckg beverages so you'll have to tailgate the 19th.

Difinitely a Jekyll Island fell.

Plenty hot at the end of Aug., thankfully water coolers every 3 holes,
Course is in pretty good shape save for the few areas on a couple of greens battling some fungus. Very forgiving off the tee.
Greens are also forgiving on misplaced approach's, with mild contours.
The par 3's especially from the blues have plenty of teeth avg'ing at least 180 most with a forced carry.
Abundant wildlife, (deer, bald eagle) and a great view of the savannah off the 17th.

The Tale of the Two Nines. Loved it.

Ah the writeups ...read the reviewws and headed over.
A little disappointed at the start, just unfortunate timing, fall and the greens had been "worked" a few wks prior, decent enough but not fully recovered. Nice enough layout but nothing special. Open fairways very forgiving & good size greens easy on beginners
BUT THEN I made the turn... it's like the back 9 is on a different course. WOW what a pleasure with a lot of eye appeal. Some great angles to test your shotmaking if you want to get aggressive, and OH that signature hole.... the 18th, a shortish par 4 with a slightly hidden fairway shot, and a true island green finish

Typical Fla course but fun.

Greens were great, fairways.... well its winter had some thinner lies as it had been a little dry. "Typical" as it is bordered by its share of houses. It makes up for all this with several very entertaining holes.... a sub 300 par 4 on the back and some challenging angles for those under 250 off the tees.

Loved it. not your typical Florida course

Love courses without the houses, lived up to its name, a nature course with most holes "secluded" from one another. Fair with several open fairway shots & chances for intermediates to make par. Then the challenges, forced carries over preserve marsh areas, risk reward decisiions with water on the par 5's. Greens were in great shape not too difficult depending on where the pin was cut.

Great layout...better be able to read greens like a pro!

I play a ton and have been on many reknowned courses, and all I could think was "what a neat track". Not kind to a beginner and quite a challenge for the intermediate albeit fair. A few holes with elevation change for eyeappeal, plenty of water to keep you focused and the greens have more breaks than your favorite TV show.
Would have gotten 5 stars had it not been for our misfortune of playing just after the fairway overseeding....can't keep 'em this nice without some TLC.

Plenty of EyeAppeal and fantastic greens

Would have rated 5 stars had it not been for the misfortune of playing during fall overseeding. Fairways were still very playable but was cart path only..... cant keep 'em that nice without some TLC.
Greens were awesome had a great round.
Very conscientious staff.... they were making the first cut since overseeding..... it always gets my attention when the mowers pull off and shut down while you play your shot ,,,,KUDO"s

Mountain views with good mix of challenging & short risk reward holes

Plenty of elevation changes on the back 9 and an awesome mountain view.
Several shorter holes require some strategic shot placements make for a great risk/reward challenge.
While plenty of room to hit fairways a miss can be very penal.
Greens were fantastic with plenty of speed.

wonderful layout with lots elevation change, great mtn views, tee options allow you to make it as much of a challenge as you'd like

Recent heavy rains made it cart path only and so several fairways needing mowing
That aside greens were in excellent shape
Interesting layout with five par 5's and 6 par 3's give you lots of scoring opportunities
Friendliest staff in the area
Didnt patronize the grill this visit, but have many other times, great fresh "grilled" burgers and a few local craft beers on tap.

gr8 terrain, exclnt but very challenging greens, love the experience

WOW for being right in town min.s from airport it gives the feel of being rural. Several holes give you feel of being isolated from the rest of the course. Varied track, mix of flat straights, doglegs with significant elevation change with blind shots from the tee. Challenging Bent greens were fantastic, mega fast, undulated, generally small, many Matersesque sideways putts. Many courses letting the bunkers go due to economy, these were exclnt & fun if youre better player.
Bermuda fairways with deep rough exclnt even 4 winter cond. Missed fairways will lead to diff. to find balls & challenging approaches for even an intermidiate plyr.
Fast pace for weekday morning, was full up as we finished and would appear to be heavy play for weekends. Awesome pract green & good drv range.

great layout and scenery, but over priced compared to better conditioned courses in the area

great terrain changes from tee to green on almost every hole, a challenge for a first timer. beautiful mountain views
speedy multi tiered greens are fun if not maddening & generally in great shape
where this course has major condtion issues are the fairways and and the areas surrounding almost every green
you can tell the fairways were allowed to burn out in the summer and have many scars if you don't find the green on your approach you'll need a miracle, the 1st cut around the greens are all patchy and 50% bare dirt.
Course has been like this for over a year. Its a shame this is one of the best tracks in the area & wouldn't take much to get it in back in top shape
