City Park Golf Course
Played On 4/24/2013Needs work but is actually not bad.
I play City Park's course all the time (1-2 times per week) because I go to LSU and it is cheap. Honestly, if some of the trees were trimmed back (not to make it easier but to allow some of the drier/dead areas to get some sunlight) this course would NOT be in bad condition at all. Tee boxes are kept up with very well and the greens actually play pretty well. It is maintained in those two categories but the fairways are in pretty terrible condition on a few holes and there is no variation between fairway and rough because the rough is the fairway on the next hole due to condensed space. It is only 12 dollars to play, and 5 dollars for twilight...... Kind of hard to beat that just to get a practice round in haha. Hope this helps!
LSU Golf Course
Played On 4/22/2013Could be the best value for the money in LA
I play LSU at least once a week because I attend the university. I ride 18 holes for $16 with my ID and I believe you can ride 18 holes as a non-student for just over $20. I did not put pristine for the course condition because I feel like that is reserved for only the best courses but LSU's course, more recently, is in fantastic condition. Tee boxes and greens are both in fantastic condition and all the fairways are well-kept with the rough being distinctly differed from the fairways. It is a little compact due to lack of space but the par 5's are long enough for a low-medium difficulty course. The only way this course could really get better is if they reduced the amount of play on it to give it some more time to grow in, but that isn't really possible because of how cheap it is and student demand. Good course no matter what handicap you are, just crowded. Enjoy!
