Corica Park - The Mif Albright Par-3 Course
Played On 09/06/2020Solid executive course
This compact little executive course is easy to get around in about an hour, with as few as three clubs. Definitely NOT pretentious, but increasingly busy.
Sharp Park Golf Course
Played On 06/24/2020Great public course, deceptively challenging
Sharp park is a great value, although lacking many of the bells and whistles of many courses. The first three holes are a nice warm up, 4-7 are a fun jaunt into the forest and up/down the mountain, and today, I watched one of my foursome get a hole-in-one on 8.
The course is right on the ocean so the wind, and weather in general, can be challenging. Greens could definitely use some care, but are definitely better than some of the other local public courses. No driving range, so warm up nearby at the San Bruno golf center, if needed.
Deep Cliff Golf Course
Played On 09/20/2020Fun course, a little rough
A fun “executive 18-hole” with a few quirks. The fairways can be a little rough and the overhead power lines infuriating, but this track can be a lifesaver when looking for tee times late in the week. Very walkable, with a good amount of shade for those hot South Bay days.
Gleneagles Golf Course at McLaren Park
Played On 08/06/2020Great layout, fairways are rough
Had a lot of fun and lost a few balls this morning but it’s ok. The layout here is great for practicing your accuracy as some of the fairways are pretty tight and going OB means losing your ball for good. Greens are in pretty rough shape, lots of impromptu sand/dirt traps, and a few sizable ruts across the greens that can give you some wild bounces. Pace of play was not a problem as there were very few other people playing.
