The bunkers were mostly just dirt. Fairways and greens have been significantly better in the past.

Course in great condition except for the bunkers. Very good test of shot making and you MUST know where to hit it.
Monterey Pines Golf Club
Played On 01/23/2018Good January Weather
Albeit at bit chilly, the day was amenable to good scoring since the greens were rolling true and the fairways were mown tight.
Joined up with some regulars at the first tee and had a great time on a really nice course.
Monterey Pines Golf Club

Great weather nice conditions and good company. As usual the greens were rolling smoothly, the fairways were well groomed, and the rough was not too penalizing. one of m favorite courses.
Monterey Pines Golf Club
Played On 09/05/2017Great Again
I play Monterey pines fairly often because it is a great course, pace of play is fantastic, and reasonably priced and today was no exception.
The fairways and tees were well manicured, the greens were rolling smoothly. The bunkers had nice fluffy sand and the rough was high but not too penalizing.
Salinas Fairways Golf Course
Played On 05/25/2017First Try
Surprised at the quality of the course. Greens were very nice although difficult to read the speed and subtle breaks. Nicely groomed fairways were relatively wide which helped in the windy conditions.
Del Monte™ Golf Course
Played On 03/03/2016Beating the Rain
Got off a bit early to beat the rain. The course was in great condition with smooth sloping greens and challenging pins. Fun to play since rough is down, not many fairway bunkers and NO WATER hazards. Much improved since we've had some rain to green up the fairways.
The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch
Played On 10/8/2013Nice "old school" design, well maintained and fun to play.
It's not Pebble Beach but it was well designed. Salinas Valley Country Club is an "old school" course that still values shot making without a gorilla drive. The greens are small and simple to read, and very well maintained. The bunkers have good sand and the mature trees present a challenge if you put the ball in the wrong place off the tee.
It was worth the drive from Monterey to play the course. I was surprised that it wasn't busier, finishing in just under four hours.
West at Rancho Canada Golf Club
Played On 5/21/2013I'd rate the course an 7 of 10.
Since my last visit the course has improved in its overall maintenance, particularly the sand bunkers.
Course has deteriorated.
The Diablo course has really gone down hill since I last played it. Fairways patchy, greens bumpy and inconsistent speed.
Fivesomes ahead of us played at a snails pace.
This course could be so great if it receives some attention.
Pacific Grove Golf Links
Played On 12/19/2012Only play PG when I get a GolfNow discount.
The course was in very good shape considering the rain we received for several days.
A nice little course but not worth the regular price for green fees and cart. The walking rate isn't terrible but still...other more challenging courses in the Monterey Bay area have deeper discounts for locals and when offered on GolfNow.
The grill has very good food and reasonably priced.
Laguna Seca Golf Club
Played On 10/4/2012Course conditions not up to expectations.
The condition of Laguna Seca is slipping. The fairways have too many bad spots, including old divots, bare spots and patches of poor quality grass. The greens are pitted and in some cases have patches of weeds. The bunkers are pitiful, in an area with more than enough sand (Monterey Bay) this course has "dirt" traps.
The grounds crew should take more of an interest in maintaining this otherwise beautiful layout. Too much competition in the area to let this place deteriorate.
Monterey Pines Golf Club
Played On 9/27/2012Hidden Gem in Monterey
Recently rehabbed public (Navy) course is always in great shape, a course one can play in under 4 hours, and use every club in the bag, and unlike like most of the courses in the Monterey Bay you can play or under fifty bucks with a cart.
You gotta play this track.
The Bayonet at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course
Played On 8/30/2012Best course on the Peninsula for the money.
Very challenging but rewards good shots. Greens are extremely difficult. Condition of the fairways, greens, bunkers outstanding. Staff are very courteous and helpful.
