The Legends at Orange Lake Resort
Played On 08/24/2019Just Too Slow
The course was fine with the exception of very slow greens. The guy in the Pro Shop was far from friendly. The Cart person was friendly and efficient which was good because on a Saturday morning nothing else was open.
The major problem was that it took over 5 hours to play. No joke. At the turn I asked if their was anyone who could go out and try and speed things up. Guy in the Pro Shop said no. It's Saturday morning and no Starter, no Ranger, just the Cart person and a guy in the Pro Shop. The course was by no means packed either. No excuse for this.
Crooked Cat at Orange County National
Played On 12/31/2018Course Owners have no clue
It is really a shame that what used to be two good golf courses have now been so mismanaged that I will go other places now. They don't even have enough carts on a full day. We didn't get to hit balls because we had to wait so long for a cart and we arrived 45 minutes before our tee time. Other people were really getting upset also. The overall condition is really slipping. When they took over they invested some money at OCN but nothing sense and the shine is gone. It's obvious they are challenged as they closed two courses in the are and will likely do that here soon. Also, you can't post a score for your handicap because they refuse to get the courses rated with the USGA. Folks at the FSGA don't know why. Again, what used to be two good courses running in to the ground
Greens were good!
Ok it's not a 5 star course but for the cost, it's a decent value. They have greatly improved things from a couple of years ago.
I do really wish they would fill in the lake and make a real driving range!
ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
Played On 05/26/2018PLUGGED GREENS AND NO WARNING!!!
It's a good course normally but I fault GolfNow as well as Champions Gate as there was zero warning that they had just airified the greens. We played 5/26/18 and they were still horrible. And by horrible I mean a putt would bounce ankle high. No warning on the Golf Now website, no mention when checking in, just a very poorly managed situation all the way around. There is just no excuse for it in my mind!!
ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
Played On 04/21/2018It's a pretty good course
It was a very windy day and we got rained out on number 17. Course was in pretty good condition. There are a couple of tricked up holes near the end of the back nine. The greens are hard to hold.
Much improved
Ok, Stoneybrook West will never host a US Open, but in the past this was a course in such disarray you stayed away regardless of the price. But with a little money and some hard work, it's now one of the best values around. The greens have come back and are good. The fairways are much improved. They filled in quite few sand traps to lower maintenance cost which makes the course play somewhat easier and the ones that remain are in great shape.
This is my first time back in about a year and things are much improved. It's not an easy layout but it's much more fun with some of those bunkers now out of the way.
Now if they would do just 2 more things: First, dig a new practice bunker. I have no idea why you filled that in and 2nd, fill in the driving range pond with dirt. You have the space and no one in this day and age likes hitting floater range balls into a lake. That only makes sense when there is no room at all for a driving range.
Panther Lake at Orange County National
Played On 12/30/2017A Great Course in Orlando
I have probably played Panther Lake 50+ times since it opened and it never fails to be a challenging track. The course is in great condition considering the time of year(late December). It is a very challenging course as well. but there are quite a few tee's to chose from so bite off as much as you can chew. You would miss out if you came to Orlando and didn't play both courses at OCN.
ChampionsGate Golf Club - International
Played On 09/24/2017Still a lot of water; Golf Now didn't say the range was closed
Unfortunately as of 9/24/17 there was still a lot of water on the course. The 8th hole is still somewhat under water. And Golf Now didn't say the driving range was closed. But to say something good, the greens are great.
Grand Cypress - North/South
Played On 01/04/2015It's a great facility and the People are Top Notch!
The course and the facilities are always some of the best in the region throughout the year. One of the things that brings me back is how you are treated. Everyone you encounter is just the friendliest you will encounter anywhere. We needed a rain check for the first day and at some places that can be a haggle based on the number of holes you played etcetera. Not here, they cheerfully took care of us and made a tee time for another day. That day they remembered us and welcomed us back. Great service all the way around.
