Worth a visit

Played as a rwo ball at 11.00am. Very warm and helpful welcome from club steward. Wonderful setting with great scenery. Course is great fun with some challenging holes and a tricky stream coming into play. A road passes through course and is busy with mountain bikers. Course condition pretty good and would not hesitate to recommend and play again. Good value. Excellent refreshments on offer.

Long but worth a visit

Played as a two ball Saturday afternoon at 2.
36pm and got round in four hours. Paid £18.00 each. Never been to a course where there was not one set of tees under 6000 yards. The red tees are over that distance and that's a long course for most club ladies. This is a good layout in the river Tweed floodplain. There is a public footpath going through it and whilst this is not a problem the number of dog and other walkers just wandering along the golf course could be. Wide generous fairways and some long par 3's. Tees ando fairways in great condition and greens looked threadbare but played ok. Been quite dry so fairways ran a bit not sure how wet it gets in winter as right alongside river. If in the area would definitely recommend as a venue. Staff in pro shop were friendly. Can't comment on food or bar as did not have time to use them. Have to say the hotel itself could do with a spruce up. Would happily play again

A little gem worth a visit

Played as a two ball at 12.00 for £12.00 as hot deal. Nine hole course along the river flood plain. Very warm welcome from members who we spoke to. Tough par 3 to open . Flatish course with a couple of climbs up to Tees. Some great holes and views are stunning. A couple of drives are close to oncoming players and if course very busy could get hairy. A road passes right through the course. Glad it was nine holes as needed front nine to get to know it. Back nine scoring much better as a result. Fairways and greens in really good condition and a pleasure to play. There is a quirky par three being the fifth but it is fun to play. Overall really enjoyed our visit and would recomend. Not much off course facilities with coffee machine and vending machine for cold drinks and chocolate.

Well worth a visit.

Played as a two ball Sunday afternoon. Very quiet on course but Sunday lunch trade very busy and looked good value. Staff welcoming and members all spoke. Course two distinct nines. Front nine quite hilly and lots of uneven stances on fairways. Back nine plays around river flood plain and is very flat and easier scoring nine. Tees in ok condition but no divot mix boxes so lots of unrepaired divots. Green were ok but quite slow. Really liked the shaped approaches and aprons to the greens . Would definitely recommend if in the area. Stunning views all around and view from clubhouse terrace must be one of the best you can get.

Some great holes but when the wind blows............

Played as a two ball at 3.00pm. Warm welcome in lovely clubhouse. Course in the main is on the cliffs and when the wind blows as it did for our round its quite a challenge. The downside is that the fairways to holes 2,9,17 and 18 are virtually one fairway in very poor condition . Holes 3 to 8 are in a field over a road and are quite squeezed in but ok. The real test comes on holes 10 to 16. These are out on the cliffs and a real test. Hole15 a short par 3 over the beach is great. Great views to Farne Islands and Bamburgh. Greens in good condition as were the tees and fairways apart from those mentioned above.. Probably wouldn't choose to play again as other course to try locally but if in the area the would say give it a go.

Good value warm welcome

Played as atwo ball at 3.00pm after heavy days rain. Very warm welcome from pro shop and in bar afterwards. Members all spoke and were very friendly. Course was wet underfoot in places and would imagine its very wet after prolongrd rain. Course is very flat and an easy walk. There are more doglegs than many courses and some tees greens and fairways quite close together. Could be a problem when course is busy. We played on our own in three hours. Greens were in great condition. Not many undulations to them and putted true and comfortable pace. Fairways and tees also in decent condition. Overall an enjoyable round and would definitely recommend for a holday round.

On the road to recovery

Played here a few times over the years and always thought it a good layout but condition got poor a while back so haven't played for last couple of years. Saw reviews recently and gave it another go. Obviously something has changed here as the course is starting to get better. Staff were great in both pro shop and bar and sandwiches looked really good.
On the course it's clearly suffered from dry weather of past few months the tee boxes well worn and areas of fairway heavily invested with tough grasses and weeds. However they have roped off about 20 to 30 yards of fairways as they approach greens and started to get these areas to a much improved condition so no carts allowed in these areas but it's worth that sacrifice. Few weeds and well watered so more lush grass. Greens themselves had some bare patches but ran true and we're good to put on.
Excellent value around $20 as pm rate and would certainly come again. This is a good test of golf some narrow tee shots and approaches to greens. Well done on improvements so far and good luck for the future.

Good test but shame about the cut on the greens

Played here a couple of years ago and had always enjoyed the layout but dropped it from our list after a couple of poor experiences. Decide to try again. Read recent reviews and, as someone who takes a keen interest in course condition and how it has been prepared, was intrigued by the review that said how poorly the greens had been cut.
Paid 19.99+ each as an afternoon two ball. This is a great layout with a variety of holes. Tees were in average condition and fairways showed signs of recent drought conditions. The rain in the last few days is starting to help. Overall for time of year, recent weather and price paid the course was in decent condition. Now to the greens. In all the years I have played on untold number of courses I have never seen such poorly cut greens. Obviously cut by hand but totally uneven around the edges and some parts totally missed. The course superintendent needs to review who is cutting the greens because he has a performance issue to my mind. The greens putted ok overall at reasonable pace but looked pretty ragged. I can truly say this is letting this course down. If it hadn't been for previous reviewer saying the same I would have put it down to a one off or a bad day.
Yes I would readily go back and at this price excellent value. I should add that bag drop guys were fine and welcome from guy in pro shop was as good as any I have had. Well done.

A very pleasant round

Played here for first time although golfed in the area for many years. Decided to give it a try and came away very satisfied. The green fee at 22.00 was great value. The course has clearly faired better than many in the area during the dry weather. The course looked green from the outset. Tees were overall in decent condition. Fairways well maintained and obviously watered. A few problem areas of crab grass but overall had good fairway lies. Greens had just been hollow tined and a bit bumpy. Probably could have done with more sand as many holes unfilled. However they were recovering well and in another week or so will be pretty good and true.
The two par fives are really good narrow holes with the ninth being a beast playing it for the first time. Staff in pro shop were very friendly but guy in cart shed made no attempt at helping load or unload bags from golf cart.
Overall well worth the visit to a decent course and we will visit again. Great value.

Improving but some way to go!

Played here a few times over the years and watched it slow!y deteriorate. Gave up playing a couple of years ago. Read reviews suggesting things were getting better so gave it a try. First the good. Staff were all friendly. The layout itself is a good one with some great holes. Narrow driving holes feature and some tough carries to the greens. They have clearly devoted their improvement schedule to getting the greens up together and have to say they have achieved this. Good true and well maintained putting surfaces are the best thing about this course at the moment. As to the rest of the course they have some way to go. Tees are pretty rough and fairways in places just dirt. Clearly recent drought has not helped but big patches of weeds and crab grass are evident.
Paid $21 and given the quality of the greens this was ok for a fee at this time of year. P!ayed on our own and place felt like it badly needed some customer. Overall would give it another try in a week or so. Best of luck to the course it's a great track and hope it's improvement continues.

Put this course on your list

Played as a two ball at 1.30. Toss up between here and Venetian. Chose here because of better reviews.
Bag drop staff, pro shop staff all very pleasant and helpful. Had a few range balls and putts then started on the 10 th. This is a very generous course off the tee with some huge open fairways. Tee and fairway condition was good although some creeping tough grasses starting to invade some fairways . It gets tougher towards the greens with stiff bunkering on some holes and massive greens with plenty of undulation. Favorite hole is par 5 7th a good dogleg par five around water with cross fairway bunkering.
Played in under 3 and a half hours and just beat a thunderstorm in.
At $35 and given the layout and condition would definitely go back. Some house building has started but still p!eanty of open space. Great wildlife and plenty of gators on show. No clubhouse as yet but its being built. Once all the house are in this will!be a very popular course.

Good course in good condition .Excellent value

Played as a two ball for $21 each and comfortably got round under 3 hours 20 mins. Had played here before a couple of years ago but was very pleasantly surprised by the course condition. Tee boxes were in good shape overall apart from a couple of par threes which is not unusual. Fairways were excellent and the greens were in great condition ran true at a decent pace. This is a good layout with some interesting holes with hole 16 among my favouritea in this area. At $21 this is right up there with the best value golf you will find in the area. We did not use the bar facilities which do look a little tired but the staff were great and we will certainly be back.

well worth a visit

Played as a two ball after 2pm for $25. A good layout and fairly open off the tees. Greens had been hollow times probably a week or so ago but putted pretty well. Fairways very bare in patches and some teeing areas were more like the rough but cut shorter. Par three tees particularly poor. Staff were efficient if not friendly. Overall glad we played this old style layout and at $25 was excellent value. Would play again if we were in the area.

Simply a must play in the area

Have played here before but not for a few years. The staff were great from the bag drop, pro shop, starter and course ranger all very friendly and helpful. The course is in great condition throughout and recently hosted US Open qualifying. The tee boxes are well maintained, the fairways good and the greens very true and not ridiculously fast. There is a lot of water but the course is very playable if you choose the right set of tees for your ability. There are a number of great holes and my favorites are par 5 14th and par 3 15th. The signature hole 17th as seen from on high in all their adverts is great but looks a lot harder in the photos than when you play it. We paid $29 plus tax with golf now.com and have to say this was fantastic value for this quality of golf course. Highly recommended and we will be back

First class from start to finish

Booked 1.16pm tee time via golf now.com at $29 plus tax. Greeted well at bag drop and in pro shop and invited to go to starter and get going when we were ready as course was very quiet. Very pleasant starter who was helpful and friendly. We played Tributory and Sanctuary. The whole course is in excellent condition from every tee to some undulating greens. Greens running at 10.5 on stump going on glass upturned saucer speed. They were firm fast and not for the faint hearted. The Tributory nine is a bit of a building site as work on the housing continues. Have played here many times and course is in best shape I can remember. This is a definite must play in the area.

Great value and a good test of golf

Played here quite a few times over the years but first time since it works took over. I believe this is their first step into golf courses and its a good start. Staff were great both in pro shop, fully explaining GPS system, and great guy at bag drop. The course was in excellent condition although a few bare patches on greens but holes cut well away from them and greens big enough for it not to matter. There are some great holes on this course with the 9th a good par 4 but best ,and toughest? being the par 3 17th probably one of the best par3's in the area. Fairways and tees were in great shape for time of year.
Our two ball round was spoilt by us catching a 4 ball on the 10th tee and having to watch them for the next 9 holes hit numerous balls all over the place and not invite us through . There was noboby in front of them and no one behind us, in fact we may have been the only two groups on the back nine!!! Just bad manners in my book.
We paid 21.99 plus tax and at this rate will go back again without question. Really great bang for you buck!

Another good experience at this venue

Have visited this course for last few years and come to expect a easier golf course than many in the area and in decent condition. Paid $33 which is as high as I would go for this venue at this time of year. Staff all pleasant enough. Course in pretty good shape overall.Fairways had plenty of grass and well cut and maintained. The tees on par 4 & 5 's were OK and on the red tee areas. The par 3 tees were in pretty poor repair and in places beaten to pieces. The greens had plenty of grass on them and ran true but way slower than other venues, really struggled to get to the hole. Overall we would go back and would recommend to others. This is a pretty wide open course and suits higher handicappers but from the back tees presents enough of a challenge for all.
