The Rock Golf Club
Played On 09/20/2019Breathtaking and everything I have imagined it to be
Wow! We were able to book this round early that morning through GolfNow. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The started even got us out early. The course is simply amazing. I played from the golds but a few of the golds were moved up to the green tees. The greens were faster than we are used to but roll true. Several greens funnel off to collection areas so be careful of the pins you shoot at. It was an extremely warm mid September day and the course was very busy. Front nine we played in less that 2 hours but the back nine was very congested. That was okay as it gave us time to really take in the beauty of this layout. We will return!

Windermere Golf & Country Club
Played On 09/19/2019Beautiful course
This was our first time playing this track. It was in pristine condition. Beautifully manicured with nicely kept flower beds throughout. I played from the tips and still found the course not that long. There are a couple of reachable par fives and a couple of drivable par 4,s. love the 18 th hole...only 252 from the blues but still a nice challenge. Staff were super friendly. We would return to this course.

The Links at Georgian Sands
Played On 09/03/2019Lots of construction
A subdivision is being built inside the course. The course has suffered a bit due to lack of irrigation. Layout is basic and not much trouble as most landing areas are pretty generous. In my open ion there are better courses in the area like Narlwood or Batteaux Creek.
Batteaux Creek Golf Club
Played On 07/31/2019Great experience
This was our second trip to this course. We booked through GolfNow. From the moment we arrived until our final putt we truly enjoyed our round at Batteaux Creek. We arrived early and asked if we could get out ahead of our booked time and they were more than accommodating. I played from the blues and the course was challenging. We found it in great shape; the greens were rolling nicely and the overall shape was pristine. We joined up with 2 members for the last 3 holes and they stayed it was unusually busy. Pace of play wasn’t too bad. Each cart had a course booklet to help guide you which was a nice feature. They have a very nice putting green as well as a chipping area and driving range.. The pro shop and clubhouse are very nice and clean. Found the beers a bit pricey but all in all it was a great experience.
Batteaux Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/29/2018Great golfing experience
We booked this course last minute. It was a bit of a drive but well worth it. Every employee that we encountered was very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a great golfing experience. Course was in great shape and the layout was both challenging and fair. We will be back next time we are in the area.
Tangle Creek Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/30/2017Friendly service and course in great shape
My wife and I played this course for the first time. Rich the started was very friendly and assistful. We were paired with 2 gents that played the course before. They helped us navigated around the course, especially on those holes that had blind tee shoots. Carts had built in GPS which also helped. We enjoyed our round immensely and will likely return next time we are in the area.
Tangle Creek Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/23/2017Great track and very friendly staff
My wife and I played this course for the first time. I have to say the course was in pretty good shape. The greens rolled true and fast (I'm guessing 11 on the stimp meter). Lots of undulation. Course is laid out nicely however there are a few blind tee shots. Luckily Rich the started paired us up with a couple of guys that have played here before and they helped us tremendously. We played from the blacks (6100+ yards). I was comfortable there but could play from the golds next time. Most par 5's are reachable in 2 from the blacks with decent tee shots. Bigger than normal greens. Clubhouse/ pro shop very nice. Beverage/ food a bit pricey. Overall...a very nice and challenging course with excellent service.
Settlers' Ghost Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2016Lots of blind (tee) shots. Nice course.
A bit disappointed when we played this course. The greens were recently air-rated and topped dressed which made putting a bit of a challenge. I understand the need to do this but it still disappointing when you travel 6 hours to play a course you've looked forward to playing for awhile. The course otherwise, was in good shape. I played from the blues but should've played from the golds. The only knock I have on this course is the numerous blind shots (many from the tee). We had to constantly drive our cart halfway up the hole to insure the group ahead of us were safely out of range. Would be a tough course to walk. I'll be fair in rating this 8/10. We didn't eat there but from what I've read the food is fantastic. I would play this track again.
Heritage Hills Golf Club
Played On 09/12/2016Nice course. Friendly staff.
We booked this course through GolfNow. We've never played it before. It's not a bad course. Not overly tough. Greens are huge and have some big undulation to them. Unfortunately for us they were air-rating the greens and top dressing them so they were not rolling well. We understand the need for this process as it is necessary to keep the greens beautiful. I played from the blues at found it perfect for me. I'm a 7 handicap...scored 78 but could've been lower if the greens were normal. Very friendly staff, especially the starter who came around from time to time to ensure the pace of play was good.
Hollinger Golf Club
Played On 09/03/2016Nice track, always in great shape. Best course in the NORTH!
This course is amazing, especially for this far north (700 km's north of Toronto). It has everything a golfer looks for-scenic views, challenging holes, nice big undulating greens, tight fairways, bents grass tees, fairways and greens and generally a good pace of play. It also features a great putting green and driving range. If you are ever in the area, you have to play this track...you won't be disappointed.
Nation Golf Course
Played On 07/12/2016Short but tight...well worth the drive
We were graciously welcomed by those working at this club. It's evident they all take great pride in their work. The course was in fantastic shape! From tees, fairways, rough, bunkers and greens this course was near perfect. The staff, including the pro shop, starter, beverage cart and bartender made us feel more than welcomed. Having not played this course before, we decided to play from the white tees (5735 yards). That's not very long compared to most courses however the fairways are narrow and there are quite a few blind shots.Premium is on accuracy here...I hit more 5 irons/ 5 woods off the tees than I did driver. Greens roll okay...seemed a tad slow...maybe 10 or so on the stimpmeter. Got a great deal from Golf Now. We will return to play this course next time we visit the Ottawa Region.

Canadian Golf and Country Club - East
Played On 07/11/2016Great conditions; very friendly staff; a few quirky holes
My wife and I booked this course through Golf Now. The course is a bit out of the way from downtown Ottawa (about 30-45 minutes depending on the traffic). We were able to get out about 45 mins earlier thanks to the starter. The course was in fantastic shape...greens were best I've played...lush, receptive and rolling true. However, playing this course for the first time was tricky....3 or four "quirky holes" lots of 90 degree doglegs. My golf buddy GPS was off by 10-15 yards which resulted in a lot of mis-clubbing (mostly over clubbing). other than that no complaints...shot 83 from Orange but should have been around 76...4 three putts hurt. A few greens have some really tough undulation. I'm sure after playing here again I could shave 6-5 strokes off easily. Not a very long course...only hit driver 5 times.
Simoro Golf Links
Played On 09/26/2015Friendly staff but course is too short...even from the tips
My wife and I were in the area a decided to try an "out of the way" track. We found this on GolfNow at a reasonable rate and booked. Unfortunately, we were unaware they had 2 tournaments booked that day so needless to say we waited patiently every hole. The course is shortish...several par 4's are reachable from the blues as well as the par 5's reachable in 2. Greens were rolling nicely and had some interesting undulations. Fairways were dry and spotty (we're use to bent grass). A middle of the road course for a value round. We probably wouldn't play it again. 2 contrasting 9's with the back a bit tighter and shorter.
Thank you for your review and sharing pictures of the course! We do hope you will try another round at Simoro!
Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club - Meadow Nest
Played On 09/25/2015Very nice course-fast greens-great condition
We played the Timber Ridge course. I was in beautiful shape. The layout was very eye appealing. I played from the blues and found it challenging as well as fair.
The entire staff from pro shop, bag drop, starter and beverage cart were very friendly. The only bad thing was we were "forced" to have another 2some join us on number 2. One particular gentleman was very slow...seemed to loose a ball every hole and ended up making our round last almost 5 &1/2 hours. Never seen a marshal and I'm sure those behind us were no pleased.
Loch March Golf and Country Club
Played On 08/06/2015Nice track. Very friendly service.
We booked this time through GolfNow. We were disappointed when we arrived to find out they had aerated the greens the day before and were top dressing them that day. However, we still enjoyed the course layout and the above average service we received from everyone from the bag drop t the beverage cart. If we return to this area we would play this course again.
The Marshes Golf Club
Played On 08/04/2015nice course but not worth $120 green fee
We were told to play this course if we were in the Ottawa Area. Regular green fee is $120/ player (cart included-but we managed to strike a deal through GolfNow @ $58/ player cart included). Exceptional service from the bag drop guys to the pro shop staff, starter and beverage cart girl. Although the beer was cold it was fairly expensive....3 beers for $24 (not including tip). Other than that, the round was very enjoyable. The layout was unique...18 holes featuring 6 par 3's, 6 par 4's and 6 par 5's. I'm a 10 handicap was told to play from the white tee...6000+ yards. I found it a bit less challenging as all the par 3's were basically between 100-120 yards...wedges for the most part. I should have played from the blue tees...6400+ yards. The course was in good shape....greens were very soft but ran true with speeds similiar to my home course...about 10 on the stimp. Fairways were very forgiving with generous landing areas and greens were large and had fair amount of undulation. We had a foursome in front of us (we were only 2) but the marshal kept things going smoothly and we rarely had more than a 2-3 minute wait per hole. There were 3 bathroom spots on the course. Beverage cart was around 5 times during our round. Pro shop was well stocked and clubhouse was very comfy. I would recommend playing this course if you can get a deal...I don't feel it's worth $120 per player but if you want a nice course with good views then play the Marshes!
Hollinger Golf Club
Played On 08/10/2014Top notch course in Northern Ontario
This golf course is fantastic. Having played many courses in southern, eastern and central Ontario as well as down east, out west and abroad I can safely say that the Hollinger is in every bit as good or better shape as those. With its' beautifully manicured fairways, huge undulating greens and numerous well-positioned bunkers and water hazards this course is as appealing to the eye as any of those top courses featured in Canada's top 100. With 4 sets of tees per hole it poses a challenge for golfers of all skill levels while still allowing them to enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings.
The practice facility provides ample area to practice your driver, those long iron or short irons, bunker play or chipping and putting.
The pro shop offers a limited amount of merchandise but carries the basics such as balls, tees, gloves, caps, and shirts. Rental clubs are available in right or left hand as well as in junior and ladies. Gas carts and pull carts are available. The course is a demanding track so it is recommended you take a gas cart. A beverage cart is usually available on the course and features assorted beverages and snacks. The Clubhouse features a wide variety of food off the menu as well as beverages of all types. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly and bathroom facilities are good but no showers are available.
The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and the course superintendent and his staff always have this course looking Tournament ready. If you plan to visit the Timmins area, bring your sticks as this is a most to play!!!
Tee times are recommended but walk-ons are accepted and will be accommodated where possible.
Ladies nights are Tuesday's and Men's nights are Thursdays. There are usually tournaments every weekend but the course is usually open to public/ members on Sat/Sun mornings as most tournaments start in the afternoons.
Hello aceontwo. Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass along your feedback to the staff. Thanks for visiting us!
