Well located in City and fun layout

Greens were true and in great condition. Course was in very good condition and pace of play just about 4 hours.

They do have rangers to help maintain the pace. Driving range is natural grass And seems to handle 15 people comfortably.

Words of advice- don’t hook your tee shot on #1 or you will be looking at the driving range from the wrong side !

I would absolutely recommend this course as a level below playing the big boys like Troon, Boulders, PGA.

Needs a Landscaping and course maintenance budget

This is one of those rare courses that finds itself in between a potential country club and a public course. Clearly in my mind if this enterprise had a substantial course maintenance budget and could put powder white sand in all the bunkers and use a weed control agent this would be on its way to a top notch golf facility.

The course layout is great; location is close to Flint area being in Grand Blanc and the northern suburbs of Detroit -easily accessible via I-75. I really cannot comment onthe facilities as we did not eat there but they seem to do a regular business on events like weddings.

Some of the holes are tricky with semi blind tee shots and some holes have hidden doglegs.

Once you play this course, you will have a much better feel and score the next time.

The weeds on some holes really are extreme but the fairways are in good shape for the most part and the greens are some of the best I have played this summer.

Price is reasonable for this course but better maintenance could make this a premier public course.

The photos on-line made the course to appear to be in really good condition. Of course those pictures were likely taken last Fall but cannot know.

That said, the course was in pretty rough condition. Many bald spots on in play balls. I was hitting off bare ground on fairway shots down the middle. The greens were in far better shape but were really slow no doubt from recent aeration.

You can play courses in the Valley that are far superior for maybe $10 more pp.

Staff was nice. Just believed it was going to be in much better condition but the layout of the course is interesting and can be challenging.

Thank you for playing Starfire and your feedback. The pictures you do see on line are from winter months when the golf course is fully overseeded with rye grass. The first couple months of summer is a difficult transitional period for grasses in the valley and this unfortunately does cause for uneven playing conditions. The summer heat and extra attention from our superintendent are helping the summer grasses improve daily. We hope you will consider giving Starfire another try soon.
Respectfully,
Mamie Wood, Director of Golf
