Bear Creek Golf Complex - Bear Course
Played On 05/01/2019Always Enjoy Bear Creek
We played on a Wednesday, mid day so the pace of play was great. Course was in good shape, only a few bare spots on the fairways. Greens were good and fast.
Ocotillo Golf Club - White/Gold
Played On 09/28/2018Typical Summer Arizona Golf
We played the Blue on the front and White on the back. The Blue was scalped so the greens were extremely fast and if an errant shot rolled anywhere near the water it went in due to the scalping of the course. The back nine White was in normal course conditions. We enjoy Ocotillo due to the challenge. We live in Arizona so playing on scalped fairways and fast summer greens is nothing new to us.
It's been awhile since we played and there was one surprise. Used the be the driving range was complimentary. Now you have to pay for a bucket of balls. That in our opinion was a Value Add that is now gone.
Pace of play was fine. We went out on a Friday morning as a twosome and all the foursomes were happy to let us play through. We got out in just over 3-hours.
Club West Golf Club
Played On 02/01/2018Welcome Back!
Under the new ownership the club is back to being a must play local course. The previous owner let the course just die. We are so HAPPY with the new owners and the attention they are paying to the course.
T-Boxes were in great shape, fairways were very well maintained and the greens while not perfect yet are well on their way back. Nothing against the course or the owners but to my fellow players, please replace your divots on the greens.
We will play Club West again and again. Can't thank the new owners enough for bring this jewel back.
Eagle Mountain Golf Club
Played On 06/27/2014Nice Course!
This course was our second 18 in the middle of June so we may have enjoyed ourselves a bit more, but still a nice course. We were dragging you know what by the 36th hole :)
For summer AZ golf the course was in very good shape. Greens were in fantastic shape with enough elevation changes that you really had to think through the putts.
Plenty of water to drink on the course and it was COLD a big plus in the summer. Cart person was around often and no hard up sell, all we wanted was ice and it was delivered with a smile. Each cart had a towel and at the end of the course, they gave you a frozen mango scented towel to really cool down; a nice touch.
The only downside was for the money and since this is connected to a resort they should provide a yardage book. We played Desert Canyon on our first 18 of the day and they gave each a yardage book. For many of the holes on Eagle Mountain a yardage book would have been a value add. This was the only reason I dropped our rating from Excellent to Good. So if you don't care about a yardage book, consider our rating as Excellent.,
Desert Canyon Golf Club

Those of us who live in AZ are used to summer golf conditions. Prices are low because the snowbirds are gone but golf conditions tend to wane due to the high temps. For 18 holes I had to keep reminding myself it was summer. Fairways were LUSH greens were in fantastic shape. We played in less than 3 hours only because we had the course to ourselves, we never saw another person for 18 holes.
Staff was very friendly. Starter took his time and gave us the layout and tips. Plenty of practice balls and the practice balls were included in the price.
Again, Play This Course! This is one of the places where you walk away and think from a services industry, this is how it should be done.
From the Club House people, to the starter to grounds maintenance THANK YOU. We had a blast and will be back. It's worth the drive from Phoenix to play this course
Club West Golf Club
Played On 06/08/2014Greens were like putting in a tile floor
The course was parched for water. Yes it's summer and yes it was over 105 but that is summer golf in Phoenix. I've played Club West in the summer many many times and it's not been in this bad a shape. The greens were the worst part. Hardly any grass at all and what there was, was so dry. Fairways were dried out as well.
This used to be the go to course in Ahwatukee but it feels like the current owners are just letting it run into the ground. PLEASE pick up on maintenance, bring this great course back.
