£10 municipal - golf is golf!

I was 1st to tee off at 7am so pace wasn’t an issue. Lots of rain all over the country so the course was understandably wet with standing water in places. The course is fairly flat, I didn’t go in any bunkers, using winter tee mats which were pretty torn up, greens ran pretty well and I enjoyed it. Shot 81 as a 10 handicapper. The Captain was opening up as I got there, he was helpful and friendly. There is a hose to use for your trolley which was useful. There is a gym on site and a bar/restaurant although I didn’t use the facilities. It’s value for money for sure, struggle to get 2 pints of lager for £10 so 3 hours golf entertainment is good.

Covid issues

I normally play on a largely flat course so this was a real challenge as it’s up and downhill with blind shots. Quite a short course so opportunities to catch back lost shots on the par 4&5s. It’s more of a field course than a purpose built and well maintained course. The clubhouse has a bar and changing rooms with showers although due to covid, restrictions applied. No driving range or net, only a small putting green so it took me a few holes to warm up.
