PGA WEST Pete Dye Dunes Course
Played On 07/05/2021Dunes Opened Early
This is s review of the course in its current condition; I've played it before and very much enjoyed myself. Dunes opened way too early and is in poor shape - greens unputtable, fairways generally a mixture of mud and gnarly grass and tee boxes pretty choppy as well. I hate to leave such a review, but I strongly recommend you wait until the greens/fairways recover from aeration...way too many netter options closely. This being said, I'll gladly come back when the course conditions are better.

Played On 03/28/2021Impressed With the Work!
Played on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, 75, no wind and not too crowded. Teed off at 1:30 (15 mins early) with a gentleman and his wife, as well as their puppy...cool by me! They played through 7, then the rest of the afternoon it was me and my "hits from the 70's). Back to the course, they've put in a ton of work and it's starting to pay off. Greens were absolutely perfect (bummer they have to aerate starting tomorrow, but makes sense), fairways were a solid 8/10, tee boxes ok, bunkers on front 9 looked good, they start work on the back 9 soon. All In all, awesome day...I'll be back soon!
Del Monte™ Golf Course
Played On 01/18/2021Nice... Nothing Special
Enjoyed playing on a beautiful, 75 degree winter day., But, as others have said, this course looks and feels old. No services because of Covid, but to not allow coolers/outside food or drink is ridiculous (even worse to announce this to every foursome seemed like overkill). Back to the course...felt like an overpriced Muni, but in Carmel and named Del Monte. Fairways in decent condition, greens slow and bumpy, off fairway conditions terrible. No, I wouldn't drive from San Jose to play here again, I'll stick to Pacific Grove.

Played On 10/06/2018Poor Conditions...5 1/2 Hours PoP
I was super excited to finally make the 70 minute drive to play Poppy Ridge, only to be less than impressed, unfortunately. The clubhouse is beautiful and all employees I interacted with were professional and courteous. However, this did not make up for the less than ideal course conditions and absurdly slow pace of play. I found the course layout to be less than inspiring...sure there are beautiful views, but the actual course itself is nothing special. The fairways were bare, at best; one the bunkers flat out ruined a club of mine (I was in two other bunkers, but learned to move the rocks before hitting...believe me there are as many rocks as there is sand) and the greens were bumpy, slow and inconsistent (like putting on shag carpet). Finally, the course was well over 50% cart path only which makes for an excruciatingly slow round. For me, this is a one-and-done as I live 15 minutes from Cinnabar Hills, which I think is 10x the course.
Thank you for visiting us at Eagle Ridge Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
