Carlton Oaks Lodge & Country Club
Played On 12/29/2014Not impressed
Myself and a few friends were excited to play Carlton Oaks based on Google and Yelp reviews, but I would rate our overall experience as mediocre at best. With the exception of the greens, the course is in pretty poor condition (fairways dead and/or weedy, bunkers hard as a rock with a half inch of soft sand on top). I also played with a few friends that shoot in the low 100s and the pin placements were really pretty ridiculous for the weekend warrior. Food options consisted of chips and candy bars after 1pm and play was extremely slow.
Needless to say, we won't be making the short trip up to Carlton Oaks from Chula Vista again.
Lake Forest Golf & Practice Center
Played On 11/11/2014OK for the price
This course is about what I'd expect for $9 for 9 holes...short, run down area (place is surrounded by an apartment complex and walking trails). Nice staff and quick round for early morning.
Oso Creek Golf Course
Played On 10/21/2014Great place for an early 9
Course was in top notch condition, especially the greens. Was well worth the greens fees.
Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course
Played On 08/27/2014OK course, play is brutally slow.
I had hoped in a quick 9 holes after 4PM on a Wednesday and knew I was in trouble when there was a 5-some in front of us. I finally gave up and drove off the course after it took 75 minutes to get through 6 holes. It was nice of the ranger to sit in the shade at hole 7 when it was pretty much too late to make the round enjoyable.
Chula Vista Golf Course
Played On 06/25/2014You get what you pay for after 5PM
The Good: Great staff at the pro shop, price, course was in very good condition.
The Bad: No ranger so it took over 2.5 hours to play the front 9 and no beverage cart.
A good morning for 9
Played the first back 9 tee time on Saturday morning. Play was fast and got a free breakfast burrito to boot at the end of the round.
Salt Creek Golf Club
Played On 8/24/2012Fun course
Always enjoy playing Salt Creek..they could spread out the start times just slightly to give each group a bit more room (not a lot of fun to wait, wait and then rush, rush).
