First time for everything

I play this course 3 or 4 times a month. I absolutely love the layout and how this course keeps calling you back out to try to beat it. Today was a most unfortunate day and I had the most unsatisfying round here. I always play as a single and have no problems joining another group. Today I started out by myself and caught up to the twosome ahead of me. They nicely waived me through so that I could keep my own pace and rhythm. The front nine was nice and easy at a staggering fast pace. Upon getting to the 10th tee I encountered a foursome that were just getting to the green. As my play caught up to them I discovered that over the next 7 holes I had to wait nearly 10-12 minutes for every shot. These guys were lining up each other's putts and rather than putting out and one guy in particular stood over each putt for 2-3 minutes before he hit and missed badly. They knew I was behind them and never once waived me through. It was even so bad that on 18 they were lining up each other's 7 and 8 shots. Again the guy stayed over his ball for 2-3 minutes before he made his 9th or 10th shot into the hole. My game was done after 10 with having to wait so long for every shot. They even had other 4somes catch up to me who were not even in the parking lot when I teed off at 1. I want a refund or a comp round. This was more than pathetic. They need a Marshall to run the course and speed up slow players with no etiquette. I love this course and it's staff but today was a day to forget. Very very dissatisfied. Do play here. You won't be disappointed. Par 62 executive course with plenty of par 3 length from the tips and great conditions. Beautiful scenery and top notch staff.

I had the same think happen with a twosome holding up our threesome and two foursomes behimd us. They were practice putting after finishing the hole. I called the clubhouse and told them they were heading to 16. The Marshall showed up immediately and rode on the butts all the way in. Love this course and play 25% of my rounds there. I usually find a good online price. When playing as a single, I usually stay behind the group in front and meet and play with whomever catches up to me. Always seems to be nice folks either local or visitors.

Needs PLENTY of work

First time player. My take on this course. Bad shape. No getting around it. Ankle length grass and weeds on tee boxes and edges of fairways. Fairways little to no grass. All hard pan lies. Bunkers hard as a rock. Greens are in bad shape. You can try to read them but with all the gaps in between grass, or lack thereof, caused the ball to jump all over. This is a neighborhood country club, so many homes line the fairways along with pine trees. Fairways are tight and overlap each other, so a wayward shot will end up in an adjacent fairway. Bottom line is this course needs ALOT of work. A member function to cut the tee boxes would be a good option. Morning staff was very helpful. They give you a book to familiarize yourself with the course, which I thought was neat. I've played many too notch courses and have never gotten a course book. This could be a nice little course if it was maintained better. Do yourself a favor and book a hot deal on Golf Now. I paid $30 on a Monday and after 2 holes contemplated on trying to get a refund, but I pushed through. Pace was excellent but it was also on a Monday morning. Finished in 2 1/2 hours. Still shot 82 under poor course conditions.

Wide Open

This is a wide open links style course, hence the name. Pins often overlap. No course directional markers observed. Had difficulty finding 1st tee. Fairways are wide with hills and bunkers. If you like to hit it low and let it run this is the course to do it. Little to no tree lines, and holes are side by side. Some very nice water boundary wood holess and the greens were fast and moved quite a bit. Drivable par 4s from the white tees if you get a strong back wind in this wide open field. Overall decent course if you like links style. Affordable at $39. Will play again if I'm ever in the area.

Nice

Nice layout. This is an executive course with mostly par 3's but basically set up like a long 2nd shot. Mixture of walkers and rider, so pace of play will vary. Some holes are challenging and water comes into play on several holes. Perfect course for a beginner or someone who struggles on long courses. Greens were a bit sandy and the ball struggled to hold. Overall good experience but rate should be around $20-25, not over $30. Will play here again

fairly nice

Great value at $25 on a Sunday at noon. Course was in decent shape with a few holes being worked on. The last few holes could use some beautification. Nice experience overall. Felt like my own private course for a Sunday. Pace of play was swift due to lack of golfers. Will play here again. A little challenging at times. Fun course.

Good Public Course

Good public course. The course was actually pretty nice. Beautifully redone after hurricane Katrina. Great work by the grounds crew. Play early, the first tee box was jammed up around noon. Watch out for foursomes if you play alone. I caught up with one on hole 7 and they would not even offer me to play through. Took 4 hours to play 18 by myself. Overall good course for the price.
