Greynolds Golf Course
Played On 03/01/2024Very Slow Greens
A nice nine-hole muni inside Greynolds Park. Great value at $18 after 3 pm on weekdays. Brand new carts, but really folks this course should be walked. Two drawbacks: Too many beginners hacking away and the slow uneven greens. The bunkers are also inconsistent, with some hard-packed with small rocks. Still, a great place to walk and practice your game.
Greynolds Golf Course

This is a charming nine hole muni located inside Greynolds Park. Perfect for walking. Generous landing areas off the tee, but second shots to the green are deceptively difficult. Conditions are not great, with very slow greens, but fees are very reasonable so a good place to practice and get your steps in.
Miami Springs Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/09/2023A Charming Historic Muni
A charming muni with interesting and important history. Oldest golf course in Miami. Host of Miami Open from 1925 to 1955. Site of Arnold Palmer's professional debut. First course to allow minorities to play. Best greens fees deal in Miami. Back nine has a canal running through it, which makes it more interesting and challenging than the front nine. Back nine also has a few very long holes, including the par 3 11th, at 236 yards from the white tees. If you don't mind the muni conditions (i.e., not manicured), this is a must try.
Newton Commonwealth Golf Course
Played On 07/18/2020This is a short but challenging course
This is a short and tight course that is both unique and challenging. If you play from the blue tees, two of the par three holes will play long to a small green. Play a mid-iron off the tee on most par fours. There are only three holes where a driver or fairway wood should be used. I played because I read this is a Donald Ross course. It must get a lot of play. The course was not in great shape. The one suggestion I have is to make this course walk-only. That will prevent players from damaging the course. I saw many players driving the cart everywhere on the course. I recommend this course for skilled players looking for something near Boston and a bit quirky and interesting.
The New England Country Club
Played On 08/15/2020Challenging Hale Irwin Course
I enjoyed playing this course, especially the back nine. Some very challenging and pretty holes. Drawbacks are the location of the first hole, which is very odd, until you learn the back story, the distance between a few of the holes, and the poorly-maintained tee boxes. Not an ideal place for us walkers. Nor beginners or high handicap players. Played the back nine with Chris who works there. Great guy and great company.
