Legacy Pines Golf Club
Played On 06/19/2016Nice "out of the way" little track
Though a bit off the beaten path, this little course is really fun to play and offers enough challenge for every level of golfer. It is short, but that doesn't mean it is easy. It has some of the longest Par 3's around, when you add them up, and that offsets some of the Par 5's. There is only one hole on the course that I feel needs some re-working and it is the second Par 5 on the back, # 13, I think. And honestly, if you play the course 3 or 4 times, it may not be that atrocious. But to me, it needed some help. That said, I will not hesitate to play this course again and even, again and again. The sand traps probably could use some fresh sand, but other than that, they do a pretty nice job of keeping this course playable and affordable. Like, like like!
Bonnie Brae Golf Course
Played On 04/17/2016Little Hidden Gem
Bonnie Brae is a golf course with the rare feature of being moderate to even low priced that offers above average value. In fact, there are several holes on this little gem that I feel could compete with any hole in the county. And make no mistake, there are many fine courses in the area. But, BB keeps it real and affordable and the staff is humble and the cost is modest. I keep BB on my list of playable, affordable, but places to play and get over there as often as I can. There are 4 or 5 courses closer to me, but I'll drive past them to get to Bonnie Brae often times.
The Preserve at Verdae
Played On 6/16/2013Great greens, but they're going a little overboard with the whole "preserve" thing, in my opinion.
They really have done a superb job with the greens at Verdae. However, I take issue with the "preserve' thing as it seems the main thing they are preserving is gasoline in their lawn equipment. Far too many weeds make up the areas intended to be 'preserved' in their natural state. The tee boxes were inconsistently maintained. Also, the rough is way to rough in many areas, which for the casual golfer greatly slows down the pace of play. Last Sunday was over 4:30, but it was the threesome in front of our foursome that was the problem. They looked like 30 handicappers and they were playing it all the way back! It is a challenging course for sure and it's location is ideal if you're close to downtown G'ville. I feel it's a little pricey, but the natural economic laws should take care of that, eventually. But then, that's why I shop GolfNow.com!
