Shadow Ridge Golf Club
Played On 12/03/2022Faldo got it right
Course was in excellent shape.....greens fairly fast and very true.
Staff is always first rate.
Gold Tees (6200 yds) very playable for older players, but tips require thought AND length.
Did not have time to check out the grill, etc.
Well worth the $120 on Golf Now, since the Desert is very crowded right now..
Shadow Hills Golf Club - North Par-3 Course
Played On 11/07/2022Challenging Par 3 Course
Played from the back tees.......more than a few holes over 200 yards
Best conditioned course in the Valley........greens fast and smooth..
We waited to hit on most holes, but only briefly.
You're missing a gem if you don't play it when you're in the Desert.
Did not use the club house, so cannot rate it.
Palm Desert Resort Country Club
Played On 11/11/2020Rounding into excellent shape
The course is obviously being upgraded..
New sand in the bunkers, new greenskeeping equipment.
Great job restoring the ponds.
Most fairways and rough fully grown in....and the greens were in great shape, true and quick.
The back nine is tighter and more challenging than the front.
All in all, a very enjoyable course, especially for couples.
Quite a hidden gem, though a bit pricy.
Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 07/01/2020Nice Layout, poor Fairways & Bunkers
All bunkers abandoned/un- maintained which ruins the look and playability of a fun, well designed layout. Fairways are spotty, with lush areas and semi-bare areas that looks like water not applied correctly - or system not properly maintained.
Greens/fringes were excellent, speedy, and true....good tee boxes....but in between, it was a mess.
I'll play again at the Golf Now special rate, but I'd be really upset if I was a member. No excuse to let the course run down like this, pandemic or not.
Hello, RidgeWatson11. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars. We are hopeful that we will be able to undergo a renovation project to recover the sand traps in the future. We work hard to keep the rest of the course excellent shape. Our maintenance crew is constantly working to improve the conditions every day. We hope you'll bear with us through this transition and give us another try in the near future. We appreciate your kind words on the greens, fringes, and tee boxes! Thanks for choosing Eagle Ridge Golf Club.
The Bayonet at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course
Played On 02/17/2020Greens are too severe for speed
Bayonet is a "championship" layout that always features pathchy, tightly mown, wet thin turf, uneven rough(gophers), and very firm, slick, but rather bald, severely contoured and sloping greens. Bring your A+ game and only hit high, soft irons, as most holes don't allow for run-ups to many pin positions.
Views of Monterey Bay are spectacular, the practice area is the best in the area, food's good, and their weekly demo -day allows you hit nearly all brands of clubs with good quality practice balls.
Excellent overall operation, but it's "work" playing both courses in the always chilly Monterey weather, with thin, tight lies, and the greens are often ridiculous considering the speed/contouring/firmness.
For the 40 years that I've played these courses, it's always been a challenge to grow good turf in this location.
Shadow Hills Golf Club - North Par-3 Course
Played On 11/14/2019GREAT Par 3 -one of the best ever.
We've played Shadow Hills North in the Spring and the Fall and you can rest assured, that if it's open for play, it's in great condition.....perfect greens rolll about 10, and VERY true.
Layout is best Par -3 I've played -never been to Kaiser's Oregon Bandon operation, but bring your 3-wood if you can't hit an iron 218 yards.....this is full of water and tucked pins and serious fun. Full 18 holes -not two 9-hole loops.
When the Golf Now $34 rate is available, play it twice/week and your iron/chipping/sand game will greatly improve.
PGA WEST Pete Dye Dunes Course
Played On 04/20/20181st Class Operation
This is a wonderful golf facility.
Plenty of staff who are knowledgable and friendly - there's an obvious pride in their operation. Excellent practice range, started on time, 3.5 hours to play our 3-some, which would be much slower if the course was full of middle-high handicappers due to forced carries over water and not much room over the greens on certain holes.
1st 3 holes were a bit odd/confusing visually - should have used the flyover on the cart's GPS..
Course was in fine condition, and the greens were as speedy as the undulations could handle without being unfair.
Clubhouse dining room overlooking the course was as good as Desert Willow's for view/service, and their staff recommended NACHOS with shredded chicken + carnitas and a base of sliced jalapenos was by far the best any of us had ever eaten.
Desert Dunes Golf Course
Played On 04/17/2018Course is excellent
RT Jone,Jr did great job and staff maintains it in excellent condition.
Very "links" in style and plays firm and fast. Greens are always fast and true....easily in top 5 in the Desert.
Bunkers are rocky....wind blows sand away....and it can really. blow!
Facilities and staff are minimal, to be kind, but you come to Desert Dunes for the great GOLF not beers and brats..
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Palm Desert Resort Country Club.
