Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
Played On 07/06/2021Consider a power cart…
The amount of hill climbing on this course is a factor in how it plays. The start was on the back nine, which begins with a drive over a huge waste area then a steep climb up the hill to the 10th green. You’ll traverse across that same valley 2 more times before getting to relatively flat land. Hole number one repeats the same descent and climb to a shared green on the opposite side of the course. You’ll descend and climb the hills three more times on the front nine as well. I’ve played this course several times and have finally learned that it just isn’t walkable without sheer exhaustion. It is an interesting design that rewards the straight ball hitter. The tee boxes are all surrounded by lovely flower beds maintained by the local school horticulture program. The views of the surrounding farmland and occasional glimpse of the mountain are wonderful. Greens are a tad bit inconsistent (or was that just me?), but the overall condition of the course was good. Beverage cart came around 4x which was really needed on this 90* day. A great value, worthy of the short drive outside of the city.

Fairways are forgiving, not too difficult to stay in play. Greens were average speed, but you need to pay attention to the breaks. #9 plays very interesting - par 4; hit first to an island, then from the island head to the green, but the water is a constant challenge. Looking forward to playing it again with better knowledge of the course. We followed a men’s club tourney, so play was a little slow. Will definitely return.
PGA WEST Pete Dye Dunes Course
Played On 02/24/2021Great Value!
This course was challenging without being soul-crushing. Lots of very interesting holes with layouts that a high handicapper can still appreciate. Staff was very attentive - even saw the beverage cart 3 times during our round. Play is a little slow - they could improve things by pairing up 2-somes, IMO. Coots have taken over the 17th green and approach. Other than that, the course was beautiful and a delight to play. Will definitely return!
Palm Royale Country Club
Played On 03/05/2020Excellent Iron Practice
Very short all par 3 with plenty of water and bunkers to give you a little challenge. Bunkers could use more sand and/or be raked by grounds crew in the mornings. Only problem was nearly getting hit 3 times today by errant shots from other holes. Twice, no warning was yelled and no acknowledgement of the near miss. Sigh...hoping it was just an off day for golf etiquette.
Red/Yellow at Charbonneau Golf Club
Played On 11/16/2019Short, but challenging
This executive course is playing well for this late in the year. Bunkers guard many of the green approaches, so your club selection is important. Pace of play was great - our foursome finished in 3 hours 15 min. There are houses lining many fairways, so it pays to play a more controlled game. Nice little snack shop for hot sandwich and beer after the round. Would definitely recommend!
Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club

Greens were a little slow due recent downpours. Layout is really interesting and fun to play. The island green looks intimidating, but plays well. Wonderful course. Will go back again!
Oasis Country Club
Played On 03/02/2018Good condition
Greens fast - course in good shape. Tons of water so bring your target game. Pace of play a little slow. Had to wait at every tee and Two groups at the tee on 3 holes. Ugh .. nice course if you’re not in a hurry

Played On 08/11/2017Challenging course
This course has many challenges - water, well placed bunkers, wild rough that penalizes the less accurate shooter. The tee placements help the higher handicap player keep up with the scratch golfer. Other than one badly burned green on 17 (that seems to be improving), the course is in great shape. Enjoy!
