Sassamon Trace Golf Course
Played On 07/15/2019Great little track
Awesome little course right near route 9. Easy to get to.
The course was in great shape for mid-July, especially because it probably sees a lot of play. The only imperfection I saw was some bare patches on the tee-boxes. They clearly care for this course.
Fun layout with some par 4s and a par 5 that give you the chance to hit driver - not something you can do at every 9-hole course. Greens were in great shape and rolled true. Some shelves and swales offered some challenge if you didn't hit a quality shot into the green. Fun and scoreable.
Also a great place to learn. We had a golf school of kids behind us taking their time on the greens so we were able to hit a few extra balls and take our time enjoying this great course. Good spot to learn the game and hit a lot of different shots.
I will definitely be back here a few more times this summer.

Lovely little course. It was in great shape for the middle of July, especially because it likely sees a lot of play. The only imperfection I saw was some a bare patch or two some of the tee boxes. Greens rolled true and the rough was lush.
One Par 5 and some Par 4's give you the chance to hit driver, a nice change of pace for a 9 hole course.
Great spot to learn to play. There was a golf school of kids behind us and they were very polite in their pace, letting us hit an extra ball or two and learn the game. We got around in 2 hours and it could have been even shorter if we hadn't taken our time and enjoyed it. Great course - I will be back many more times.
Rockland Golf Course
Played On 07/07/2019Disappointing experience
I wanted to like this course because I generally enjoy Par 3 courses as a chance to practice mid and short iron shots. I just wasn't impressed with this course. The course had seen a lot of play and the greens were in OK shape. The tee boxes were beat. It was a HOT Sunday afternoon and I had brought a half gallon of water and I was out by the 10th hole. I definitely should have filled up at the turn because of the two water jugs I saw on the course, both were empty. I saw the drink cart when I was on the 4th hole servicing a triple tee box but I didn't see her again for the rest of the round. How is that not top priority on a 90+ degree day?
The pace of play was also a serious issue. I love to see people out learning the game and having fun at all ages, and the senior game can be played quickly. Hit it, walk up to it, hit it again. This was not the case for the senior group in front of our foursome. It becomes especially frustrating on a Par 3 course since you're waiting for them to play out the entire hole. They even forgot to replace the flag a few times so we had to drive up and put it back in.
There was a rude ranger at the turn asking why we had three carts and weren't teeing off immediately (the ladies in our group needed to use the bathroom). Other than that no one was out moving things along on the course. We played the 3100 yard course in a little over 4 hours. It felt like much longer.
For $30 the value in this experience just wasn't there. I won't be back for any price.
Acushnet River Valley Golf Course

I really enjoyed this round of golf. Fun layout, some challenging holes, and a little open links style on the back 9. Pace of play was a little on the slow side for a Friday. The foursome in front was dragging and stopped for food at the turn. They should have been moved along by a marshal, especially right next to the clubhouse.
All in all, great course and a fantastic value on the hot deal tee time. I'll be back.
