Wildwood Country Club
Played On 9/2/2013No grass on greens
When I got my GolfNow confirmation it contained and alert that stated "Replacement greens in place". I called the course and asked about the condition of the greens. I was told that they had killed the grass on the greens in anticipation of regressing the greens. I was assured that the greens were "very playable and very puttable". I expected the greens to be like dormant grass, that was not the case. There was no grass whatsoever on the greens, there were bare dirt and sand. The green's fee was greatly reduced but even that is not sufficient to make for a pleasant round.
Aberdeen Country Club - Highlands/Meadows
Played On 7/5/2013Nice course, worth the drive from Myrtle.
One of several course along the SC 9 corridor north of Myrtle Beach. There was a lot of rain during our stay in Myrtle but the course held up very nicely. There was some casual water but did not adversely affect play. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Man O' War Golf Course
Played On 7/4/2013Good course, not so good staff.
We found the course to be very fair, though if you are a senior the senior tees have some some pretty stout holes (2 par 4's over 370 and 2 par 5's around 500). Pace of play was terrible. We waited on every hole on the front, We had a group cut in front of us at the turn. We tried to flag down a ranger to find out the policy on cutting in, the ranger ignored us and just kept on going. The group that we thought was slow on the front, was a hole and a half ahead of the the cut in group. No effort by the staff to increase the pace of play. When we arrived we were not permitted to put any equipment in the cart until our starting time. So instead of getting ready to play, we were standing around holding coffee cups.
The course layout is very nice a deserves a higher rating but the pace of play and lack of professionalism of the staff cause it to be down graded.
Glen Dornoch Waterway Golf Links
Played On 7/3/2013Under repair but a nice track.
The greens had been aerated and the cart pathes were being repaired. The staff told us that they tried to get GolfNow to notify me of these conditions the day before we played, but GolfNow did not respond. The result was we were charged a greatly reduced rate ( the published rate was $68, we paid $27 ). The course is routed through some wetland area with forced carries and several holes along the intercostal.
Possum Trot Golf Course
Played On 6/30/2013Nice little course for a quick round
There had been torrential rain in Myrtle Beach the day before and the day of our round. I was surprised the course was open. There was standing water in the fairways (cart path only) but the greens held up very well. No water on the greens and putted well. Because of the weather the course was empty and we played in just over 3 hours.
