We lucked out and had very little wind. This course is a bear in the wind.
This is our go to course for playing a penalizing course. Desert shrub everywhere just a few steps from the fairway. It's not an unfair setup... You just pay for any shot a bit wide. Tough green complexes and impossible sand saves.
Only big complaint are the concrete like and rock filled bunkers. Practice bunker shots off your driveway or concrete patio flooring. Was in 3 bunkers. Easily cost me 2-3 strokes with no chance of up and down (got lucky once where ball in bunker was on top of a rock and I could get a wedge under it).

Greens were quite slow... Although there were no pinch marks I believe they are recovering from a recent punch. Pretty smooth though.
Bunkers were marginally better from the concrete they seem to be most times we play here. Other than a few being filled with water, the dry ones were playable.
Portions of the tee boxes, fairways and rough were a mix between dry, wet and soaked in spots but generally good for the most part.
We seem to keep getting a cart that takes seizures as it attempts to regulate you speed. If you get motion sick... Beware.
Overall had a blast since in mid afternoon we appeared to be the first out on the course after a tournament was done. 3hr round baby!

Course was in great summer condition... What does that mean? Slowish greens, a bit patchy throughout but not in a bad way and a little wet in spots from trying to keep it from burning out. Always enjoy this course. Some of its appeal is starting to go away as they begin to pack a resort and tons of houses around it... Play it soon before it loses all it's appeal!

They are really good to junior golfers so they should be commended for that. Their staff is great too. However... Slow play is a killer. 4.25hrs to play 14 holes (and then we gave up) is unacceptable. Not a marshall to be found. Course conditions were pretty terrible too. Shag carpet greens where they hadn't lost them entirely in spots after their latest punch and sanding. Then there is the atmosphere... Right beside a major interstate and major railway. Ears are ringing still and my lungs have been scared I am sure. Just no reason to play here other than great staff and them being great to juniors.

We played this a year ago and although we enjoyed it the course conditions were a mess. Not today! Fairways have grass! Only a few need a bit of time. Greens were so much better! Fast and fairly true. Tee boxes were great. We love the layout. Strategic yet lots of opportunities to go for it. If you were disappointed before you will be surprised how much better it is now. We were amazed. Give it a try.

Unfortunately it looks like the writing is on the wall for this course. Talked to a long time player at this course (family has played there since the 50's) and it is going through a rough time and may be gone soon. Would be a shame. We enjoyed it more than our private courses conditions. Although the fairways are not perfect and there is not a lot of definition to where the rough starts it was very playable tee to green. Greens were great except for a few that had some overly wet areas along the edges. Nice and smooth otherwise. Lots of check or zip back on approach shots. Worth the green fee they ask? Barely... But still enjoyable. Would take very little to bring the fairways and rough back around. Will be a real shame if it goes away.

Much better than in recent years. Greens good, fairways great, bunkers not very playable since they are dirt bunkers and we're wet with many having standing water.
Enjoyed the round. The layout and views around the course are well worth it.

Only thing that kept it under 6 hours was people giving up.
Too bad... The course is great. Employees were great too. Everything about it is a 4 out of 5 except pace of play.

The greens were pretty good. Some were in bad shape but certainly playable and most rolled really good. Fairways were a little rough bit not that bad.
The layout is where it really excels. Some really interesting holes with major elevation changes.
Friendly guy in the shop. Great guy.
Pace of play was terrible. 3 some was holding everything up. We were a 4 some. Waited on every shot. No marshal of course.
Number of drunks at the bar/restaurant... Little early in the day for that!
Area is really mixed. Really bad in spots. On a number of tees near streets people were really showing their lack of class... Scared the crap out of my kids a few times. We won't be back just because of that.

They lost the course a few years ago to a flood and it has been rebuilt. After numerous owners it looks like they have a good one and are building up the course. It's in a very young state and need time to mature but the layout is so amazing that in it's current state it was a complete blast to play! Think desert links golf. The wind gives you the classic links challenge, high grass off fairways is replaced by waste and wash. A truely amazing challenge. You have got to try it!
Staff is the friendliest I have encountered of any public course I have ever played. Don't miss out on this gem as it gets better and better with maturity.

Need to let people know when they call that there is major reconstruction going on. Fairways are a mess. Very little sand in bunkers. Greens are shaggy. This is all fine if you let people know before they show. Yes you may lose people today... But for those that show up without being told you lose them for life over the dishonesty.
